  • Dentist fees are very expensive and inflated. Just compare Dentists fees with that of MDs for comparison since Dentists say they have to charge these fees because they had to study 8 years. And yet, Dentists demand the same respect. That is stupid.

  • I'm becoming a dentist for both helping peoples smile and for the money.

  • a dentist that makes a billion dollars? Does he own Oral-b?

  • start out at 100K and be 200K in the hole...tragic..agreed?

  • im thinking of becoming a dentist, not just for the money, but i love interacting with people, and socializing with them.

  • as lil as 120k?

    lol

  • We have free education here, except books... I live in Denmark, and I'm telling you, dentist earn approximately 80.000 dollars a year, but we pay 50 % taxes, + everything you earn above 60000 dollars, you pay 70 % taxes...

But the US gives higher income and lower taxes, I'm definitely going to be driving my Mustang GT on sunset boulevard there, but here I'm lucky to afford a Prius because of the insane value added taxes they have here...

  • @91stgeneration Hi there! My name is Boris and I am really interested in the working conditions, salary etc etc. for dentists in Denmark.

Do you know what is the average a dentist would get in Denmark after paying all the taxes. I am asking because I have read all those forums and most of them do not show a pretty picture- I mean, one earns a lot, but pays half of it to the country.

Looking forward to your reply :)

  • @baginatora A dentist earns around 40.000 danish krones each month, as a new educated. This means you will earn something around 120.000 us dollars each month, but taxes will take something around 60 % of this. This means you will have maybe 55.000 US dollars paid, when working and living i Denmark. BUT, everything around here is also much more expensive... cars cost twice to four times what they cost in US. And I mean EVERYTHING is much more expensive. Ask if U wanna know something specific.

  • @baginatora

I'm sure the working conditions for a professional health care in Denmark would be very enjoybable, similar to that of the United States. However, without strong, capitalistic ideology in Europe, it's more difficult to be successful there. The progressive/secular focus is that Doctors earn too much, and should pay much more back into the system. However, after taking out a few hundred thousand for 8 years of school, your net income isn't much more than any other career.

  • @baginatora

So, if you think you're willing to enter the professional out of enjoyment, then I believe you'll be satisfied. However, with intentions of having an exclusive income (75th+ %ile), the likelihood is quickly diminishing by the decade. Even with the stress and pressure of 8 years of school, the government is quick to justify and assume that you don't deserve every cent you make. This is clearly evident in the United States, where government is removing subsidized loan options.

  • This is my type of video, who did your video for you?

  • I'm becoming a dentist not for helping people, but for the money

  • @ManuMontoya99 thats the way to go , lol

  • @ManuMontoya99

    Same here man haha

  • @ManuMontoya99 lol u say that. evryone does. wait till a place wants a doctorate degree. most dentist require it. pratically a lifestyle. thats like the highest degree u can get. u know how hard that is?

  • @ManuMontoya99 hahaha

  • @ManuMontoya99 me lol

  • I'm planning on being a dentist

  • oo never mine its not a dss its a dec

  • do u need to do a dss to be a dentist?

  • @R3dTigerM40A3 you need a DDS degree or a DMD degree in order to be a Dentist. These are 4 year doctoral degrees. You can however become a dental hygienist an work without a Doctoral degree....you'll make around $50,000-$70,000 doing that :)

  • I'd take the 50K and run lol

  • @WarrenAch Again I have no problem with people doing legitimate work for fair money. Dentist are not doing this and many are doing treatments on people that are completely un-needed. That reporter went to 50 offices and many of them were prepared to root canals on completely healthy teeth in addition to other major procedures. You are supporting a system that breeds this high level of dishonesty and fraud. Because someone does not support fraud does not make them cheap, it means they are honest

  • You're so desperate that you have resorted to taunting?

I don't respect Dentist and that is true. As for other doctors. I have respect for them as fraud is not so rampant in these professions and unlike dentists, most doctors support nationalized health care. Most US doctors prefer nationalization and want it as it is better for patients. Dentist do not

Wont change?. things are changing and public health care is playing a greater role in the US and private industry is becoming more regulated

  • ..... We enjoy a higher standard of living with longer life span. And yes thanks to nationalization, we enjoy superior health care that is delivered at far less cost than the inferior US system. The government can deliver a superior dental system at lower cost to the patient, ensuring people who need treatment are treated..... not who can only afford it. Also ensuring a respectable wage is earned by the Doctors.

  • @xianapple Looks like you never entered a Medical/Dental School don't you?

Stop pulling out that stupid passion and care to another non-sense,the people who get into Med/Pharm/Dent/Opto/MedVet/Law are strictly doing it for the money.

Dental Medicine has been scientifically proven to be effective and a person should go see a Dentist regularly.

You're fighting scam professions?Go see Ostheopaths, they are the real scum of the healthcare system.

  • @WarrenAch Your using others people greed and obsession for the $ for justification of yours. Can we say deflecting? If all these people in other medical fields are only in it for the money, then why do few people move to the US to become Dr.'s? Seriously the US has one of the lowest dr per 1000 rates in the OECD. You figure Dr's from Countries like here in Canada, Norway, France would jump at the chance to make more in the USA, but they are not. Clearly money is not the motivation for most.

  • As for treatment, I am not disputing that treatments for diagnosed issues are effective. My issue is that treatments are being done for issues that are not as bad as what dentist claim or for issues that don’t exist!!! I went into a dentist and it was determined I needed 9 fillings, one of which may require a root canal. I got scared and put it off for a year when I moved back to Vancouver. Magically with my new dentist, 5 fillings were required, all of which were described as minor.

  • A report done by the CBC found these issues to be rampant in dentistry. A person with confirmed healthy teeth went to several dentists. Treatments plans ranged from a few hundred $ to $20K on healthy teeth Many dentists were willing to root canal perfectly healthy teeth. Even the dental school professor who confirmed the reporters teeth as being healthy was disturbed by the level of dishonesty they discovered.

  • @xianapple Oh and also,Physician/Dentist salaries are similar in both U.S. and Canada, remember that a Specialized Physician/Dentist HAS to find a job in the preferred location BEFORE moving there and he has to pass the boards exams, which are definitely tough. Not everyone wants to move to another country since they can make similar salaries here.

The only ones with real freedom are Family Physicians and GP Dentists, the others SUFFER finding spots over seas.

  • @WarrenAch Actually there is more than a 30% difference btw, but granted Universal health care is much more effecient than private care and overhead is lower here. As for Doctors, actually it is harder for a American Dr to move to Canada then vice versa. Canadian doctors do not have to upgrade to go to the US, whereas US doctors have to take an additional year of training to meet Canadian standards - Despite this more US doctors elect to move to Canada than Canadian doctors move to the US

  • @xianapple The Canadian candidate still has to do 2 to 3 years in Canada before leaving for U.S.,he also got to re-do his board exams in the U.S.

Remember,Specialist spots(Surgery,Internal Med,Lab spots) are limited and definitely hard to come by anywhere in a good city.A Hospital only needs 1-2 specialists in a specific fields.GPs have more spots though.

Still,Public Health is full of mediocrity, because the doc knows he's getting paid.

    In Private care,there's quality,nuff'said.

  • @WarrenAch Really tell the cihi that who notes that it is easier for a cdn dr. to move to the US then vice versa. Also search US department of education > search PISA > then results. A report found in the US dep of edu notes Canadians have a superior education system. Not my words

As for quality - so this is why the US with all its private care leads the OECD in medical errors and medical error related deaths, because it is quality?

Cdn doctors are fee per service and not flat rate

  • @WarrenAch US doctors are the highest paid in the world and if there are no positions and other countries standards are not up to par, then why are they recruitin overseas? Finland has the highest rated education system in the world and their doctors less than 1/2 what a US doctor makes as is true with various other highly educated US countries and yet they turn down opportunities to make more money in the US

  • Seems like you as well as other Dentists argue that denstistry is absolutlley necessary for peoples health. If dentistry is so essential then it should be nationalized immediatley so that all can take advantage of this essential service, rather than private which only results in rationing by patients means of ability to pay, not who needs treatment. Of course you are in it for the money as you participate in a system that rations dental care based on income....that is sick

  • before this video my motivation to continue in this field was I'd say a 7 out of 10, now I'd say it's an 11 or 12, haha but this is really satisfying to hear; so many options, work for someone, work for yourself, or go into the military...(i'm starting my dentist assistant certification so i can work and pay off dental school at UMDNJ...expensive)

  • @keysofebony Dental field is amazing.

You can make the same salary as the Physician while working a lot less.

If you have the motivation, you can become a Specialist, which pays a lot more at the cost of more studies.

Some Dentists make more than 1 m/year by doing Cosmetic procedures!

  • ...... even though it has been proven public health care serves the patients interest better while maintaining a fair and equatable work situation for the Dr..

Sorry I have little respect for the dental profession and private medicine. Really don't trust a profession that has more to gain from you being sick then you being healthy.

  • @keysofebony Your motivation is money and to actually help people?

  • @xianapple honestly I don't care about the money, I enjoy helping people and have always wanted to start my own business...or in this case practice. From what I'm unfortunately seeing all over this video's comment space, you and WarrenAch seem to have quite the opinionated argument and I choose not to be a part of it.

  • 1 Trillion Dollars!!!

  • Million...That's all ?

    Hahahahaha

  • Do you have a big house? lol I really want to be a dentist not about money but about helping people

  • i agree with the location,,,my dad is an well established dentist and his practice grosses roughly over 110k a month...that is 8 hygenist and he is the only dentist...I dont know how much he makes because it depends but im sure its a little over 500k before taxes. He is just a GP.

  • the salary !! thats a lot of money!! God ! i wanna be a dentist!

  • Remember the word "average"...that means thats taking into account the massive salaries as well as the small ones.

So the reality is, the average salary is lower than $130,000

  • @headphones222

Hahahaha, are you averaging the average salary? LOOOOOL

  • No just taking into account thhe results well out of the range.

  • @headphones222

Dude, learn what the word average means and then come back. If the average is 130k, it doesnt mean that most of the salaries are lower, because it's the average of both high salaries and low salaries. Too bad my english isn't that good i'd have explained it to you correctly.

  • I know what an average means...basically..its the mean average we are talking about here, hence the average of, 3, 7, and 8 = 6

If I suddenly add 15 and we take the average, we get that the average of, 3, 7, 8 and 15 = 11...so we have a much greater range. And the average has been affected by the larger vaule more so than the lesser ones...hence those massive salaries are not really for everyone, only a small amount of dentists earn those huge amounts.

  • @headphones222 Come on, this is basic maths. Just because the video says that the AVERAGE salary is 130K does NOT mean you can assume that most dentists earn less than this while very few earn much more... since you're talking about calculating averages here I'll let you work out how that's possible.

  • Erm yes it does?

It means that a mean avergae of the salarys is offset by dentists earning like half a million or something!!..

    Obviously it offsets it.....
