  • who turned out the lights?

  • i c my band directe. tuba at 1:23

  • the haters are hating because there band is no where near and never will be as good as the SONIC BOOM

  • lmao!!

  • I'll admit, the playing isn't top-notch; but this band is sexy! XD

  • Mississippi baby! :)

  • I do not care about any negative comments placed here. I am 61 years old and was in a marching band in high school and enjoyed the competitions. What many do not realize is that playing at this level or high school level is a constructive endeavor. I wish that there were more programs available to inspire kids. I still play jazz and dance music today.

  • I'm soooo jelous. ! My marching bandddd shoulddd do this! : O

  • Horrible straight legs....

  • @secondthridticket Hater.

  • @nigelholland3 I said it as a joke...Cause obviously they aren't aiming for straight legs

  • Blacks, whites, racists, haters: You know, "the man" has all of you by the balls. (Divide and conquer...Get it?) They're robbing us blind, taking our houses and property and ability to make a living, and ya'll are arguing about a stupid marching band?!? Kinda ironic and appropos, I suppose, since most of you are marching to the beat of their political, social, and economic drums.

  • Huh... -_-?

  • I doubt that someone will ask "Why there are no black people in the team?" If all of the members are White. But why if all of the member are Black, someone ask about why White people not being in the team.

  • @rimoonable I agree. I see those statements a lot when African people are doing anything together. It's similar to the way slave masters use to prevent African people from meeting. Or how the white group use to interrupt civil right meetings or burn black churches. Don't forget Rosewood. There is a fear and ignorance about Black unity, even if we are just socializing.

  • wtf. 1:46 two white guys on sousaphone

  • White folks don't understand this. They used to marching to that boring ass shit. This is entertainment. I see OSU trying to mimick the HBCU band styles. This is not traditional marching band shit. Nobody don't want to hear that dull as shit. IT's funny, they talk about it, why the fuck you on the page. It's obvious, u trying to cop our style. Y'all white folks always been curious bout us. Y'all just mad cause y'all cant hang.

  • I especially enjoyed the huge gapping crater of a dent in the "Clear" bass drum head. How ghetto!

  • You know its not a good idea to advertise a band with a video where you have a botched trumpet scream in the first five seconds.

  • Groids at their finest!

  • funny cause there all black:D

  • @reptifreak99 lol im not racist im just saying therse like nnnoooooooooo white person on your team...thats kind of rasist to me.

  • TUNING, there was none.

  • im scared...

  • um...wow..and not necessarily in a good way.

  • too much KFC

  • @kimoncrack cos it's JACKSON state duh!

  • Why is everyone black?

  • @KimOnCrack

JSU is a historically black college. That may sum it up for you.

  • reminds me of Drumline wit nick cannon love this

  • now this is officially the besstt:}

which is why ill always be in marching band

  • learn to spell CYMBALS

  • that thing they did with the crash simbles....my sister tryed to do and she failed....so bad

  • I understand how some people may not enjoy this style, but the racist comments I've found here are just uncalled for and ABSOLUTELY disgust me.

Please, learn how to critique musicians properly before you spout arrogant, insolent fluff that does nothing more than highlight your bigotry.

  • only jackson state can make there marching band look awsome

  • I am lead trumpet at my high school and we could kick this bands a$& any day of the week.. there is not musicality in this, i counted more fracks over all that actual music and there bass line is all over blown.. watched this with my friend who is lead snare and he was playing this music as it went and said it was the easiest thing he has ever seen.. this is pitiful.

  • those trumpets sound terrible.

  • who the fuck is Jackson State?

  • People!!! These performances are NOT competitions. This is why it's called a Half-time S-H-O-W!!! It's SUPPOSED to be for the ENTERTAINMENT of the FANS!

  • YOU ALL SUcK!!!! my high school marching band is 4 weeks old and we are already better. i could personally march better than all of them combined...while playing!!!

    yours truly,

    pat o'brien (513-889-9278)

and i personally invite you to call me and let me know how you feel. PUSSIES!!!!!

  • @xgibsonrockx123 you're an idiot bro.

  • @Mrlagalot1

Then why are you watching something you don't like? Pointless....

    Pointless seeing raw talent.

  • Has anybody not seen Drumline?

  • You have to be from the south to truly appreciate this type of band. Love it!!

  • @bignbootyful im from the south.

    and i dont like it.

  • @bignbootyful from one of the top marching bands on the east coast in NC and this is crap, where is the musicality? skill? all this is, is a ghetto beat mixed with half done visuals.. give a boom boom cack to a bass and snare line and its instantly the next best thing.. sad show of "talent" if any..

  • @MRrandomstuff09 This is a dance routine. Its not suppose to be "hard" or "musical". Its just when the band breaks down and does a little something extra for the crowd. As you can see the crowd respects the gesture and joins in.

  • This is the most ghetto band i have seen i my life.

  • Million viewsss Go head JSU

  • and we wonder why kids dont want to play the classic wind band stuff anymore ^^^^

  • black folks know how to live haha

  • Lool it's funny how there are no white people in the whole marching band

  • I don't think that there was a single white person in this video.....

  • Okay I so want to go to this school now if this marching band is like this.

  • a bunch of nonesense fer sure

  • Comment removed

  • Is the director of this band Ralph Chapman?

  • @eatsleepmarchingband Yes it is.

  • WHAT IT IS HOE, WUZZUP, WHAT IT IS HOE WUZZUP

  • needs more trumpets

  • nobody does it like hbcu's bb

  • I did my first two years at ASU and AGREE alabama is hood ,but this is the worst example of ghetto MESS. Got this dude dancing harder then cheetah dancers at :11 seconds then whoop that trick. And percussion was doing great until they showed thed Countryness with"What it is HOW,Whats up"

  • I marched in a parade with this band once. Sure its entertaining, but its always bottom heavy with the tubas over blowing.

  • SAXAPHONE!!!! I love marching band! Here in Chico High, you can't smile or laugh, or move, when where at parade rest, and attention!

  • @bbsome ikr!

  • this is entertainment..thats what it is

  • not a white guy in sight!

  • @Drummaboyy13 'cos white people don't have rhythm.

  • Comment removed

  • My high school in NC does this! I was a part of it, and they still are at it.

  • Is this a marching band or a dance troupe?

  • @lwheatcraft seems like it.. lol...

  • @lwheatcraft why are you hating?

  • é a melhor banda do mundo aqui do brazil nunca existiu nada igual

  • ignorance, anyone can see that....then on national tv smh....."honey look these niggas here" fight for a ddrum battle?

  • for the record i would just like to thank all of the non ignorant DCI members giving this band props. yes their style may not be as difficult as DCI style is but it still takes a lot of hard work and endurance. High step marching style is not easy folks it takes a lot out of you especailly if you are not physically fit. and the dance moves are not easy either. if a lot of us can respect why not all of us can. you dont have to like it to respect it. like & respect are 2 different things folks.

  • totally crazy!

  • Holy shit, these guys are awesome!

  • 2:46 black eye like nigga got dam!

  • puta q'stá REGÜEEEEENO !!!! GOZADOR COMO NINGUNO YEA !

    [iminent=JLY8N7YVffOB]

  • WOW cooool !!

  • Million + views .... nice job promoting marching band, creative coreography too

  • ist not my drum core style but great

  • who did they face against in this battle

  • @MrFalconsboi Texas Southern University

  • I personally am a fan of DCI and any marching band. I don't really dislike this video because of it's style, (like show band vs. regular) but because there were some intonation issues. I respect them for what they do though.

  • NIGGA ARMY CALLK THE AIRFORCE TO BLOW THE FUCK OUT OF THEM

  • @ShelbiRific Technically, you're right. But you're also wrong. Look up "DCI Athletes" on YouTube. On the video, An Athletic Trainer from Indiana State University ran a test on one of the performers on the field. His heart rate, breathing, and endurance levels were that of a Marathon Runner running the FULL marathon. I don't know if you've ever marched a show, but here in Texas, Marching Band and Drum Corps are respected for their work, commitment, and overall athletic ability. Have a nice day.

  • trumpets go hard

  • I LOVE IT WHEN IT GETS TO 0:13

  • ME PUEDES CONSEGUIR LAS NOTAS MUSICAL

    ES UTILISADAS HAY POR FAVOR

  • ME PUEDES CONSEGUIR LAS NOTAS MUSICALES UTILISADAS HAY POR FAVOR

  • they wouldnt stand a chance in ISSMA

  • @mxcnbigboyz619 is that a fo9otball confrence or something?

  • This sounds really bad.

  • this isnt marching band...... real marching band's dont do this sort of stuff. i mean yea, we can have fun and do goofy stuff, but not like this. im not saying its bad, but its not good either. even so, i like the tubas, seeings how im a tuba player.

  • @bloodvein3 sttfu

  • @xJTeXclan i see someone doesnt like MY OPINION. its your opinion that you clearly like this. i can respect that. now why cant you respect my opinion of disliking this? ignorant hypocrite.

  • @bloodvein3 dude this if the HBCU style of marching band. and it is good. HBCU bands only care about the audience. they like to entertain. so therefore they do things they know the audience would like. and this isnt goofy stuff. this particular vid was just an advertisement to get people to go to a football game. look at this band's actual halftime shows. in fact i have this bands halftime shows in favorites on my channel. just look for jackson state. this style came first by the way

  • @bloodvein3 this is marching, however thes movements are either made to impress the crouds or taunt the other theam and their band

  • @darkson95 oh ok. nice profile pic btw, that band kicks ass.

  • @darkson95 actually some hbcu's have used formations to pick at the other schools. either with music or formations. for example look at FAMU's florida classic show. the entire show was pretty much picking at BCU

  • whats the second song called? at 0:10

  • You can't make a crappy show and simply claim it's a "Different" style!... Dirt is dirt, and I have yet to see a "Southern" group play anything clean.... or with any form of rhythm... This is simply HORRIBLE. It's really sad that instructors and teachers are okay with anyone performing at such a low level.... DCI and WGI=clean talent.... what ever this is= child play dirt!

  • @TheRyan909 these are the african american style bands and they use more informal marching style tactics the main spetelces comes when the drum line battles happen

then you see te true colors or the southern bands

  • All the white people got shot before they could make it to the stadium

  • This video was shot years ago. Jackson State has an excellent band. But there is a clear difference between corp style and show style. you tube Jackson state 2010 and see for yourself

  • I like this :D

  • This is what you get at halftime!!! If we are lucky we might get some crappy kids taking penalties!

  • DOESNT GET MORE HOOD THAN THIS.

  • @goldcrayon2 Thats not a good thing lol

  • performin infront of an empty ass stadiumn sit.

  • anyone notice how like 3/4 of the stadium is empty?

  • @Jakeofalltrades1 the part of the stadium thats empty is the visiting side.this was filmed in jackson mississippi over five years ago. this was the jakson state vs texas southern game. texas southern is from houston texas so al of their fans werent going to be at that game.

  • @TheDragonmaster18 Thanks for the reply Dragon....currently JSU is #1 in Home Field Attendance in the SWAC and #3 in the nation among D1-AA schools.

  • @FrostyNacho no problem. i love the boom as well as all the other hbcu bands. and i'll defend every single one of them. from the wrost of the wrost to the best of the best. and you know i thought FAMU was #1 for homefeild advantage. espicially for the florida classic and atlanta classic

  • @TheDragonmaster18 Naw, we're ranked #3 at 24,140 with 5 home games. FAMU is ranked the next HBCU at #12 with 15,913 with 4 home games. Only reason why the stadium never looks "as full" is bcuz of the capacity of Memorial. I would post the source of this info, but YouTube is not letting me post links.

  • @FrostyNacho cant you send it to me through a message

  • @TheDragonmaster18 sent it to you

  • This is the blackest thing I have ever seen.

  • Gotta love show bands :) though the horns may need a bit of help on some of the harmonics and drums on the drum break could be a bit "cleaner" overall awsome perfomances though!!!

  • Sound a mess

  • 1:23 white boy playing tuba!

  • The horn section is pretty horrible. Percussion's pretty good though.

  • why are the drum majors basically dancers? arent they supposed to be conducting? just asking im not sure

  • @Superunknownful in HBCU bands dancing is a form of conducting. you learn all of this when you attened the band camp. and also the crowd likes it when the drum majors dance. but these drum majors do your stanndard conducting style in the stands. and in hbcu bands they really dont need drum majors to conduct them. the drumline is pretty much who controls the feild. the snares would do 4 taps on the drum and they start their show. and this is just for advertisment. look at their actually show

  • u can agree or disagree. just somethin to consider.

  • wow yall are gettn vicious. but dang, these "show bands" have gotten quite, well, distasteful. seems like everything to them is sex appeal and being a good band with great sound, and precision just does not matter. i march with a high class band thats talented both on the field and in the concert hall. weve earned our place in london this new years. not by running around halfnaked and screaming at ppl. there are better, easier ways to get to the top guys, just saying.

  • @bdorsettable show style bands arenot all like this. and remember this is from the 29005 season and they only act like this at rival games. in HBCU's its all about the bands so therefore they give their audience what they want. but neither of these bands use to act like this 20 years ago. its just the mentality of the people of today. look at schools like FAMU & BCU they pretty much are the only two bands who really keep the way they once were.

  • @bdorsettable you cant really judge all show bands based on just this one vid. check out the 2010 edition of the jackson state marching band. and just because they're dancing like doesnt mean its a sex appeal. they do what ever the audience likes for them to do and if that means the audience wants to see do what they were doing in this vid then they are going to do so. hbcu bands only goal is to give what the audience want. but not all are like this. check out famu and bcu

  • i don't understand the show? sorry guys...i don't like ur concept, but..not so bad...

  • i don't understand the show? sorry guys...i don't like ur concept, but..not so bad...

  • @astawamacorps10 the reason why you dont understand the show is because CBS didnt show the whole thing. they only showed the entertaining parts of the performances to attract people to come to the games. HBCU's are made to entertain crowds with music the crowd knows and loves and that's it. there's a documentary on youtube about HBCU bands. it explains their concept and a typical hbcu feild show. not all HBCU bands are like this. check out FAMU, BCU and any band in the MEAC

  • @TheDragonmaster18 , ok thanks for ur explanation, the show is cool. but the music, maybe need improve and harmonic. anyway good job.

  • @TheDragonmaster18 ok thanks for ur explanation, the show is cool. but the music, maybe need improve and harmonic. anyway good job.

  • @astawamacorps10 well their sound is not going to change do to the fact they have sounded like that since they started their program. when they first started out decades ago they were a 17 piece jazz ensemble. so therefore they had that big band sound like most HBCU bands in the south have. so when they became a marching band they wanted to keep that sound and that's why they are called the SONIC BOOM OF THE SOUTH!!!

  • really...? Cool show, I guess. Terrible playing.

  • @adequinzio1 this is from 2005 check out the 2010 season. this was just to get people to go to a footbball game.

  • WHAT IT IS HOE!!! WHAT'S UP!!!!!!!

  • whose the other drumline

  • i would totally be one of the people in the crowd.

  • 1:44 the director said "CMON LES GO NIGGA"

  • @Markisflippinsweet in hbcu's rival games get out of control at times espcially between the bands. in fact at black college games people only go for the bands. hlftime is the real game time. i garuntee you that if the bands dont show up the audience wont

  • SPHS, your problem is that you see someone criticizing the terribad band in this video and you take it as a criticism of the entire genre.

  • @Papermate123123 thats because they normally say somthing like "this is why DCI is better" or "show bands are a disgrace to marching bands, learn some DCI" which doesnt even make sense seeing as how DCI doesnt even have marching bands..... to those DCI fans out there who arnt ignorant, i thank you.

  • SUCK MY DII---- unfortunate cutoff

  • SPHSdrumline still mad because the band in this video is utter garbage and he can't convince anyone otherwise. lol.

  • @Papermate123123 lol i dont rlly care actually, ive never even heard of this band before this vid. im just mad that DCI ppl are bashing ALL showbands, or traditional bands, based on this one terrible vid. i would suggest FAMU or BCU. DCI people are still mad because the movie drumline was based off of marching bands.

  • yall went to fast

  • @iGoByTima agreed

  • EWWW. GO DCI!

  • @jakubrox19 dude this style has been longer than DCI so yeah. and DCI likes to watch these types of band. they may not march in one but they love watching what they do and they appreaciate what they do. real DCI people actually give props to these guys. sure its a little dirty but this for the crowd only not judges. you must be in high school in order to be thinking like that. in fact one of the blue devils former snare player marches for an HBCU band his name is ralph nader. look him up

  • @TheDragonmaster18 thats great man. i was expressing my opinion about my views on show bands like this. im just saying i like DCI better than show bands

  • @althappy13, don't be stupid, learn to take joke.

  • Marching Band & DCI are both hard and unique in their own way. I'd consider it a sport any day.

  • @fartguy1172 CORRECTION. Show band is a sport. Not pep band like this.

  • @Ghettodued this band in the video is not a pep band this is a show band

  • @TheDragonmaster18 Competitive show bands perform only one show that is continually refined throughout a season, while pep focus on entertainment rather than competition usually perform a unique (and less technically challenging) show for each game.

  • DOES ANYONE KNOW THE NAME OF THE FIRST SONG?

    0:10-0:21

  • Last thing...in Houston they have selectively crippled music education when it come to black people...but they really didn't mess over the hispanic programs and now most of them march this style... my thing is if doing this gets ANY child into ANY college, why bad mouth it? It is a tradition that IS OLDER THAN CORPS STYLE ITSELF....Deal with it....there are alot of corps bands that sound like crap too...even in DCI...

  • VIDEO EDITING...Most of the time editors only show the 'exciting' parts so to you people saying they don't march let me break it down: a showstyle band performance is broken down int parts. 1st: the entrance 2nd: down field drill 3rd: second drill 4th: (some) drumline break and/or dance line 5th: Ballad. Usually some old school RnB sometimes new 6th: band dance (this is the 'exciting' part...they never show 1 thru 5) 7th: exit better yet look up TxSU,(the band in the maroon) PVAMU, NSU.,
  • This is just ignorant.....First of all NOBODY I knew except a few kids when I went to school in the suburbs could even afford DCI...not too many corps in the south...But there is a culture of RACISM that is being taught in some of these colleges about this style...Example: The Big 10 schools do not have to put up with alot of these comments that are on here because basically...they are white

  • its funny how ignorant people are on youtube...

  • @Sumosak you got a problem with black people?if so we can meet some time?me and you.ill blow ur shit loose.

  • @jairusherring1 hahah kid i as talking about the ignorant people that leave stupid ass racist comment on youtube about black people. Its just wrong and those people are just trolls trying to start comment wars. and dont try to talk shit on youtube, its weak.

  • @Sumosak my bad.

  • This is shit what the hell this isn't marching band.

  • @jdglaze2014 oh yeah. you're right. they meant to put jackson state volleyball.

  • The ghetto march...brought to you by Jackson State.

  • @withoutlimits16 r u serious..that ignorant ass comment...

  • It's just a culture thing....I respect both. One is for "Vibe" and another is for precision. No biggie.

  • love it!

  • where are the white people?

  • @Bassbox93 this is an HBCU band so of course their going to be hardly any white people. most white musicians think they're to good for this style to even try to audition for this kind of band

  • @Bassbox93 excuse yu?
