Seals rest and sleep on land since they cant do it in water. Sun wont kill them either. The seal just chose the wrong spot to rest and its clear they dont fear humans.
As I have said many times. I have seen many seals in my travels. 1st time I had ever seen one at Hampton Beach on the sand 200' from the water. Normally they are on Docks and Rocks. I really thought he was in trouble... He didnt even seem to care that people were within 10 to 20 feet of him. I think it was just bad timing on his part the water went away real fast... and then he had to spend a lot of energy to get back to the water for his next meal...
just to say, why are you talking about dragging it back out to sea and plonking it back in the water? seals like to bask on the beach, and this baby seal is probably at the safest place while it's mother is out feeding. Leave it be.
Nobody has yet. Most people thought it was pretty neat. Not something you see every day in NH. This guy was pretty relaxed until he had to get back to the water.. Dont think he was too happy about the distance to get back.. He took a lot of breaks.
not cool., as far as you really know it was running from a shark? it has a right to be on the beach, don't like it turn around leave the beach =) your comments were barbaric. you guys sound semi decent though.. stupid surfboard and drag it out LOL> god man lol.
Whatever the case was it had a happy ending and I got to get really close to a live seal.. It only took 50 years but I hope it happens again..

The western North Atlantic stock is equivalent to the
eastern Canada population, and ranges from New England to Labrador (Mansfield 1966; Looks like they are common to cape cod so thats not the case
