Really, it doesn't matter anymore. What's done is done and Tarja is no longer with Nightwish. I don't think losing her as a vocalist hurt the band at all, but chosing someone so dramatically different than her did. Quite frankly, I'm not a fan of Tarja OR Anette, but of the music, and I hate how the style changed with the singer because her voice couldn't handle it.

Toumas is god, but.... this song is NOT THE SAME without Tarja's voice. I mean, best wishes to Annette and Nightwish (right now), but when I hear Annette's voice in Ever Dream, it really doesn't evoke the same emotions.

Tarja is an operatic goddess, a master of classical vocals.

She was the one who gave the breathtaking, haunting vocals to Toumas' compositions and lyrical genius. In reality, they really completed each other, but alas, it was not meant to last.

@NorthernVictory Yea, but we all know that Tuomas was infatuated with Tarja when she got married it was only a matter of time before nightwish broke up. He made it perfectly clear that songs like these were directed toward her in interviews and other songs ("Did you ever read what I wrote you"..etc) he simply couldn't write anymore songs for her knowing that it was over and the fact that she was only going to do one more album with them. Alas all good things come to an end.

Tumoas is writing about his deep love for Tarja, ´cause there were alot more to it than friendship on his part.

The main part is love, the close second is the pain related to it. And I personally believe that the pain in Tuomas soul is partly not getting his feelings answered, but mainly watching Marcelo (Tarjas husband) transforming the innocent, down to earth girl, into a diva of awareness, thus ruing the dynamic of the band. Love and music was falling apart for Tumoas...
