However, you also have to think that these predators need to kill in order to eat and feed their own families. If they don't, they starve. They don't have the saying "Nature is cruel" without reason. Also, without predators the herbivores would slowly expand their population past the carrying capacity for the environment. Once they do, starvation and disease would run rampant.
