  • Comment removed

  • @totaLybeetLeJuice They look pretty much the same you have to agree that.

  • @TheValkyrieful man rember its a game from the 2000s so it old game

  • great game ....not lol

  • Hey, you were playing on the Nintendo 64 console or an emulator?, it sounds like shit ugly, I have it in real N64 cartridge and the sound is not heard of ugly, sounds very good and the music is perfect

  • Developers make games like this, and then wonder why they fail.

  • this game is very impressive and interesting, do not understand why everyone despises him and tell him jonhromero so many things about this game, I've never understood, lol, excellent game, ami personally, I like the N64, is best greetings

  • moving and rotating in the same time on n64? how?

  • @Sirkamilo C buttons

  • Cutting-edge gameplay and technology!

  • diakatana is a awsome game, a few bugs on release (needs patched)

the development process was messy and full of set backs as well

but what killed it was romero's legacy with wolfenstein quake and doom.

the expectations for this game was ridiculous. its not in doom or quakes league, but its still good.

really even if romero had released the best game man had ever played at the time, it would still have got slated, cause expectation was ridiculously high

its a solid game, but not a legendary one

  • you would think with like John Romero the game would be 500% better

    if you wonder why...DOOM

  • lol everyone says this game is bad but it doesnt look bad why ?

  • @sonicadx Bad gameplay bad controls enemies stupid unresponsive and on the N64 important people in the PC version where left out yet left them in the cutscenes it is very confusing to play on the N64

  • I don't care what anybody says, I have the N64 version and personally I think King Garoth is much more menacing looking than in the pc version I enjoyed Daikatana on the N64 just fine, thank you very much

  • Can't believe the crap was released

  • how the hell did the guys who made such great, ground breaking games like quake and doom makie this steaming pile of pixles?

  • One-inch-punch. lol

  • I like how nothing moves when you walk, even the original Doom had you sway when you walk

  • John Romero is gonna make himself your bitch.

  • Looks like shit compared to half life (that includes the PC version too.)

  • @manladyyasser No, it doesn't!! Come on, look at Half-life today, those low-res textures didn't age very well, you know? Daikatana looks waaaay better than Half-life, I know, what I'm talking about.

Gameplay, however, is something completely different..

  • @Dznxyv ?

  • Wasn't this game really awful? It even had an Afro-American in it called "Superfly Johnson".

  • @SomeBlokeLol

    You gotta be kidding lol.

  • LOL 2/10

  • (Looks at screen)

    *Vomits

  • John Romero is a bitch.

  • @Joe402 John's a cool fucker, what makes him a bitch?

  • @Joe402 wtf? he did quake and doom, hes awesome! but yep, he fucked up a game...HE ABSOLUTELY DESERVES A FUCKING 2ND CHANCE! just take a look on american mcgee...he havent done anything just bullshit since alice! still they say hes a god! damn it! bad day la and the other pile of craps? daikatana on pc isnt THAT bad, but it was way too overhyped!

  • Looks like shit, but the weapon change mechanic is actually pretty awesome.

  • This looks annoying to control

  • Fuck you Romero.

  • "John Romero is gonna make you his bitch!"

  • suck it down

  • @Moonfane14 John Romero, you ARE a bitch!

  • @Poever *gasp*

  • When you see this, it makes you wonder what Romero and his team did for 4 years of development, huh?

  • I'm gonna guess a lot of beer and crying was involved.

  • looks like doom imo

  • Even Turok 3 is much better:P

  • SUCK IT DOWN!!!

  • Anyone saying this game was terrible is defending this game a bit 2 much...look i own both the PC and n64 versions and the n64 is HORRIBLE is so bland....theres just...nothing good about it. Nothing.

The pc version sucked as well but was more enjoyable than the n64. The problem was that the guns are HORRIBLE in daikatana...probably the worst guns of any fps ever. The ai bots that were supposed to "help you" wind up getting killed all the time meaning you start over....peoples this game blows

  • Wow! That is some 1½ seconds of water effect they have there, and the blurry textures..

  • I misspelled my comment. What I meant to say was: It was a very fun game!

  • the way the person is playing the game is pissing me off

  • i saw i had it on the 64 and im gonna try it now and also when i saw the cover i rofled and lmgo (lmgo might be new but its "laught my guts out" lol

  • Looks like a ripoff of the first Turok on the 64, im gonna try it anyway even if u guys say its so bad

  • This game isn't that bad as what most people says. I've played Goldeneye and Perfect Dark though.

  • i knew the game had issues on the n64,but i played anyway.the ion cannon was awsome to shoot and watch the ion stream.but in the end,the frustrating level design brought my time with the campaign to a screeching halt.i made it to the middle ages and kept getting schooled by some wizard boss named wyndrax. that bastard wyndrax, that bastard.

  • Goldeneye looks 100 times worse than this, but plays 100 times better.

  • This game doesnt look that bad.

  • Ehh it does

  • jajajajajaja

  • Its just...I dunno. This game sucks so bad, and yet, I play it anyway...

  • oh shit... the room you enter at around :30 reminds me so much of that one n64 indiana jones game. I forget the name of it, but it was about the tower of babel, and the room was in an underground nazi archeological dig. I had to return it to blockbuster before I could figure out how to beat it. :(

  • Was it good?

I'd like to get that game. Looks interesting.

  • Was it a good game??

  • Comment removed

  • No, it was horrible. In fact, I'd love to see the AVGN bash it!

  • Daikatana isn't really a bad game, in fact, I keep reinstalling it because of all the kickass monsters. This could just be me, but when a curtain event is triggered, I get booted off of the game, and return to my desktop. Is it the actual game, or is it my computer?

I even tried to install the gametap version, and the same thing happens. BTW, the N64 version DOES sound like shit.

  • What OS are you using? If it's XP or 2000 maybe you could try a compatibility mode.

  • Yup, even then it still doesn't work. Though I did get past the part where it glitches on me, so now I'm just worried about the levels I'm on, there down right impossable to pass.

  • You really just need to find another game. Trust me I tried SO hard to like it. But in reality its a piece of shit, nomatter how you look at it.

Btw daikatana must have the WORST guns EVER in a FPS

  • I disagree.

I thought the Shot Cycler was fuckin' awesome.

  • me too man.. :)

  • One of the worst games that i have ever played, nice video though

  • Reminds me of Oblivion really

  • Punch that skeleton in the nuts, yeah, right in the fuckin nuts.

  • Lol AVGN.

  • This could've been a awesome game if Romero hadn't tried to make it look and play like a Quake game.

I didn't think there was a Nintendo 64 version of this game. I've never seen it at any used store. Romero must have buried the remaining games somewhere like E.T. for the Atari years ago. Man that game sucked.

  • This was for the N64, seriously? I mean, Escape 3D had better audio than this.

  • one of the worst games i ever play

the gbc version is a LOT better that this

  • lol horrible AI no music and like no guys to kill, so sad :O

  • Worst game I've ever seen.. epic fail.

Horrible A.I look, the enemies are trying to attack you when being a mile away with there swords!

  • thats cause they have the same programming as the guys with guns. they have no idea they arent firing bullets

  • LooOol...!!

That's so funny dude, I've never actualy played this game, hell I've never even heard of it until yesterday when it was on my msn news of the "10 worse games of all time".

  • The N64 version of Daikatana is indeed horrible, but when I play the PC version (which I own) I can't help but enjoy the game :S

  • That's good. I do see a lot of Doom features in the game, from what I see.

  • 456195641

    14784 puto

  • this is depressing...

  • The sad part is Daikatana would actually not have been such a bad game were it not for Romero's constant shooting himself in the foot; the Time ad comes to mind, and the insane amount of work lost due to the engine switch and a lot of rushing for other ports played a part too. Add to that the constant date changes and an outdated game engine because of these factors, and Daikatana didn't stand a chance.

This might have been Romero's masterpiece, but in the end it's his fault it wasn't.

  • Romero got so obsessed with keeping up with Carmack's hourly changing engines that he killed his entire company in the process. Carmack may have had superior engines but it didn't make his post Quake series games any better, just more mechanical.

A dated engine could still produce kickass gameplay if the game itself is good and engaging to start with. Romero lost sight of this and it cost him BIG TIME.

The 'Bitch' ad didn't help either...

  • Exactly. Hell, look at Final Fantasy 7 and Goldeneye; their engines have been dated for years and they're as fun to play now as then.

Romero was probably a victim of the idea that you have to be on the cutting edge all the time and have a big budget, as is more common in movies; sucks that so many people hold that idea, really.

  • The problem is Romero and Carmack both had egos that had applied for Statehood at that point and one was either trying to outdo or burn the other. Carmack knew John was relying on his engines and kept writing new ones on the fly. John was too stupid or too arrogant to see what was in front of him and wouldn't take no for an answer and look what happened.

Dude had a very cool concept in place for Daikatana but I wish he had created smoother versions like Derek Smart did for BC3000.

  • is this game REALLY that awful?

  • ya this game was terrible

  • ya this game was terrible

  • The PC version is terrible, but I've never played the N64 version. What interests me is that the game runs so smoothly (high FPS). Someone needed to tell Rareware this before they released goldeneye and perfect dark (both great games). The high FPS, from the looks of it, seems to be the only redeeming quality.

  • I refuse to believe that John Romero thought he could compete with the Dreamcast version of Quake 3 by releasing such a poor version of Daikatana for Nintendo 64!

  • The AI looks awful, and using Japan weapons on the Greece Chapter?? They can't have done a good job at all.

  • i have this game to n64 and its not good or funny to play

  • great AI

  • Please tell me thats a joke.

  • The AI is actually worse on the N64. It's such a sloppy port.
