The word is actually Haints, not Haunts. We purposely used the word "haints" because it is an old term used to refer to a ghost haunting a certain place. It's actually a old Irish word. Barry Fitzgerald from Ghost Hunters International has said it on T.V. So there is your new word for 2012. Thanks Eddie
Actually MarlonDeanMcQueen, yes we are very aware of Charles Baldwin as the person who really died. Most people know the story as Joe Baldwin and that is why we chose to just say Joe is who we captured on the picture. Either way something is hanging out around there to this day. Thank you for your letters. Sincerely Eddie
If you want to see where the old trestle was, the best way (without anyone seeing you) is by kayak. Put in at the bridge over Hood Creek. You won't be able to paddle far until you have to portage. Then you can paddle right up near where the trestle used to be, and walk around. You can "climb" up the bank on both the western and eastern sides of the creek, and walk along the old right-of-way. It's really scary late at night. Had some hair-raising experiences. Never got "caught," either.
The tracks were still there in 1978-1979, as I drove across them and witnessed what I saw, once at 16, the other time at 17, born in 62. Remains of station still present when I was 16. It was a frequent visit by all teens in my area back then and many of my friends saw the Maco light(s). Sorry that it's gone, or at least grown over.
Course, when I went to Maco Station, there were houses everywhere, along with what one could call the old station. Alot of CSX's property crosses probably alot of land owner's property, especially thru the swamp area. Though the landowners probably don't legally "own" the old trackbed, you are still entering at one's own risk. Best to ask permission! They are probably tired of years of teens visiting the area, leaving beer cans, etc.
Actually...as mentioned before, was there as a teen, seen stuff twice. The land around the tracks(on either side of railway) are still the property of the CSX/Seaboard, even if the tracks are taken up. Unless the property owner buys back this right-of-way back from CSX, it's legally still theirs. My small town of Littleton used to have a flea market right next to the tracks in town, and CSX told them to purchase, or move their fleamarket. Town moved fleamarket.
There are a few property owners to get permission from. The lady that owns the fence that has been damaged now has a Rott that she lets run. A deputy was up there a few weeks ago and from what I hear, the dog bit someone but they got away from it. Lucky for the trespasser that the dog is still a puppy(6 months).
I have a Book on Ghost Lights and other stuff. The Maco Light story is in this Book. It says the Light vanished after the Railroad Tracks were torn up in the late 70s. Has anyone seen the Light since??? We have a similar light down here in Jacksonboro, SC

Yes, you need permission to go. Where the tracks were is located on private land. You would have to go to the area and look up the older gentleman that owns it. People that go out there on their own, get the police called on them. Eddie
Thank you.

Great video, I have always been interested in the Maco Light. I would love to see it myself. But without the right equipment I doubt that will happen
