It's a littlebit outdated video now, so when I made this, it was on 2.2 I think (now I'm using only 2.3 roms because of the bluetooth headsets won't work properly with 2.2 custom roms [they are skipping the sound sometimes what is irritated me a bit]). Since the bootloader unlocked and other things, you don't have to do this procedure if you flash custom kernels.

There are two things cause this:

1: You have to enter "su" (without quotes) in the terminal before you try to insmod

2: You're on stock 2.1 ROM (install any 2.2/ 2.3 custom rom). BTW there is a workaround somewhere in XDA if you want to use this module with stock.

There are two things cause this:

Oh, okay I read your previous post, so now I know you're on custom ROM. Try to reflash from stock, or unlock bootloader (IMPORTANT!!! If you have got a line written under the battery like 11w28 or above [11w29, 11w30...etc] forget unlocking bootloader because you will permabrick your phone: sony made a new bootloader protection for these x8s that can not be unlocked)

You have to disassemble the whole phone starting from the back. You can easily find dissassemble guide if you search some in google.

Note that you won't change the chip! You change the digitizer, e.g. the screen of the phone. They say it's a littlebit hard to pull of the screen from the frame, so you have to be careful at that step. Good luck!

Yes it's posible. Some people changed it at XDA forums, and they said the "operation was succesfull". BTW you can buy Cypress digitizer on e-bay or other bid-page. Just ask the seller that which digitizer has he got.

Now this video is not too relevant. I mean almost all Custom ROMs includes the module, and is enabled by default. I personally don't know what is the prob., but take a tour to xda-developers x8 forum, and I'm sure you'll get help there (don't forget to use the SEARCH button before you ask there anything).

It's a littlebit old ROM now. Have you tried FroyoBread (the original by doixanh) out? I think it's the best 2.2 ROM, and the module has been built in, so you don't need to insmod anything.

Else I don't know why it is doing it to you. It should have been working. Maybe some bug in the ROM, I'm not sure.

That's strange, it should work this way. What ROM do you have? Because some roms are writing back the original hw_config file at reboot.

I don't know what problem you mean. If it bricks you phone (you can't turn it on), the you just have to use SEUS (official SonyEricsson update software) and install the original ROM with about 3 clicks. So no, you can't destroy your phone with this.

BTW your warrantee will be void with this, but as I wrote you can restore the phones original soft and then you'll get back the warrantee. :)

You can't really brick your phone until you unlock the bootloader, but backup will be good, if you can't boot it, and don't want to lose all contacts/sms/etc.

So, just get in Xrecovery/CWM and do a backup first.

If your phone has Cypress chip, the yes, it will work. Or if not ,then read XDA forums a little (there are known problems with stock 2.1 ROM)

Bad news: no you can't. X10s are delivered with synaptics chip like some x8s.

If Fake Dual Touch is working for you, the this module won't. Sorry, but you have Synaptics chip, not Cypress.

We can't know for sure. Pure luck. But the Black X8s are more often have Cypress chip (maybe like 7 out of 10, Whites like 1 or 2 out of 20)

Then the su command haven't worked for you. BTW you have to write everithing with small letters, so its su, not SU or Su or sU. :D

In theoretically yes, you can, if your phone is rooted. For some people it doesn't work with the stock 2.1 ROM, and I don't know why. Check XDA-developers' forums to solve the problem, and use the search button! :)

All bugs will disappear. There is only one thing you have to care: insert the "insmod... etc" command to an empty line in hw_config.sh. If you don't, the module will not work. There's no other consequencies, so try it out! :)

I use FroyoBread v012 from doixanh. I'm not using the v016 because I think (seriously, I don't know for sure) it uses more memory for the system and leave less to applications.

I don't want to make multitouch running on startup (haven't changed my hw_config.sh) because the screen shuts down after a while as if I weren't touching it at all!

Can I create a *.sh file with these commands (su and insmod...) so that I can run it everytime I need to enable multitouch instead of writing them in the terminal?

I created and executed (with root explorer) a *.sh file with these exact lines but it didn't work. What did I do wrong? Should I write it differently in the *.sh file?

That is why I wrote in the description:

If you don't write the insmod command in hw_config.sh, then you can't load it at boot, and the bugs are remains (the "Unresponsive Touch Screen at calls" and the "Screen Turning Off" problem! If the module loads when the phone is booting up, then there aren't any bug, and yes the "screen off" problem will disappear too in that case... So just try it. If it won't work for you, then simply delete the line that you write in your hw_config.sh :)
