  • SCREW THE ADAPTER 1:44

  • Very good, first bit of useful information on the web, bravo. Liked and subscribed.

  • @karaokehaskan Thanks so much for watching! Glad it was helpful!

  • Excellent, I've been shooting on a flip cam for my new online marketing series, and have been wondering if I'd be able to hack it to add a different lens. Hoping I can use an slr lens so I can get some depth of field going on with the video.

  • What rings are those and where did you buy them? also what wide angle lens is it? and could get different lenses to fit the ring?

  • @rmdembroski Wait can u still take off the thing where the battery goes

  • hi it would be really important that you respond to this , i just wanted to know how did you take off the black line on the side of the objectif because i would like to keep them ?

  • @QCfocher Not sure what you mean. Do you mean the vignetting?

  • @rmdembroski ya that's it ! :)

  • @QCfocher Black line only appears not the 2x the wide didn't vignette. So I didn't do anything in particular to remove them, they just didn't exist on the wide angle.

  • @rmdembroski thanks it really help me !

  • where did you get it from? can you send me the link? please :)

  • @BrandonSkate513 Best Buy

  • quick question. I didn't have enough time to go to canadiantire so I just went to Dollarama but is the name brand Krazy glue better then no-name? I'm just asking because I put some on and let it dry for 1/2 like it said but about 2 hours later I was holding it and noticed it was starting to come off so i took it off and used a new step-up ring and put more glue and now letting it dry for 12 hours without touching?

Again should i just get name brand Krazy glue,

    Thanks

  • @ZerkPureFTW I tried using Plumbers goop and it worked wonders, it takes 24h to fully dry but i recommend "PLUMBERS GOOP" its like 5$ for a full tube, i had it left over when my dad fixed the sink and i used barely any, the tube comes with 110ml

  • Awesome video. That was cool

  • The telephoto one is only $3.95 + $5.45 shipping at Amazon right now! I would do this instead of buying a more expensive magnetic lens but I don't like how the corners of the shot are black. :(

  • will this still work if the origonal lense cover on the flip is missing?

  • Comment removed

  • do you know what is the size of the step up ring that you used? 28mm to 35mm?

  • I'm sory this guy sounds so like John Malkovich.

  • Ummm... ahhh... a umm.... yeah... ummm.. show you that real.. um.. quick, screw the umm, lens...

Dude, get a grasp on the English language, please.

  • opteka sells wide angle and fisheyes for flips now

  • What is the lens for?

    -Carols

  • Where did you get all the lenses and how much was it could you send me the imformation in a message

  • snag the whole set for $10.

  • i have to same question as the guy about the mount for the car becuase im making a car video also so i was wondering what mount you used? thanks

  • how much is thw len?

  • not realy a hack more a mod good tho :)

  • Buy it now why you can, Cisco just announced they're shutting down Flip :\

  • No worries on warranties anymore: Cisco is dumping FLIP.

  • @TheLightScriber Ya that sucks...I don't know what Cisco was thinking acquiring consumer product line.

  • @sidehop Diversity for money- IMO they fell short in features. Would have liked better optical zoom (vs. digital) and being able to change settings like white balance, etc. Plus they may not have marketed it very well.

  • Hey I am making a video about a car. I would like to know how you mount the Flip on the outside of the car? Like what mount do you use? Thank you

  • @victorh1414 Sending you a message

  • @rmdembroski well maybe other people on youtube want to know like me..

  • @rmdembroski I got a questions What lens will fit on a Webbie cm1? im buying one but i need a fishe eye, telescope and wide lens for it cant find info anywhere!

  • Damn your camera does the same thing that my camera does when I attach the lens...you see the 4 round corners.

  • is there anyway to take the zoom off this camera . even when its not on zoom it seems really zoomed

  • lots of screwing going on ;)

  • Should have used 2 part epoxy. when krazy glue dries it tends to fog plastic up,

  • watch?v=70er6moDacI

watch this vid for my testing dawgssss haha thanks rmdembroski. peace

  • Hey, I just bought the lens from best buy and super glue from home depot and im here at the computer lab in my school and performed operation. Haha I'm satisfied. The gluing part was scary though >.<

  • your video is awesome because it got them to make the lens!

  • @teknomadics I don't know if that's actually the case... but that would be cool!

  • i jsut checked on best buys website, and they accutally have it for the flip now!!!

  • Comment removed

  • It looks mad cool on the flip that way

  • @Recklesswhitekid Agreed

  • urm just saying here but you can buy lenses like these which are megnetic therefore you dont need to glue them

  • @ells551 Lenses like that weren't available when I made this video - but it is definitely a viable alternative now!

  • @rmdembroski Now that they have the magnetic lenses which do you prefer? the "hack" or the magnetic lense?

also, is there a fisheye lense that can be used with the hack?

  • haha u were going to utah, haha?

    SLC?

  • hi

  • hi

  • Could you send me a link where you bought your lenses? Thanks and very nice video!

  • @thisismycool Best Buy

  • I just did this hack based on your video and it worked beautifully! Thanks for the tip!

  • Not a bad option but im not sure why you would want to risk damaging your camera. I bought a magnetic .45x wide for my flip that works great. The lower the number the wide the angle. I have been very happy with it so far. I bought it for like 40 bucks from the igadgetnow web site. I think the part number is VLMWF. Hope that helps. I could not even find the sunpak lens on any sites. It is a discounted item.

  • Awesome video, tons of help. Saw a bunch of similar videos but they all basically said "get an adapter ring, and a lens, glue and thread and you're done." which seems ok, but while looking, and not willing to waste my money, I was too scared to buy the wrong sizes of anything. And you actually said to use the 30.5m-37m adapter which was what I wanted. Ordered a wide-angle macro and the adapter. Wish me luck with the application! thanks a bunch for the helpful video!

  • @CameronIsGodless Good Luck!

  • nice nails man... :S

  • Thanks

  • QUESTION: BECAUSE OF THE WEIGHT OF THE LENDS ITS HAS CAUSED THE RING TO COME OFF THE CAMERA.... CAN YOU HELP ME SOLVE THIS PROBLEM?

I LOVE THE FLIP BUT IF I CAN'T HACK IT, ITS USELESS FOR ME... THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO AND FOR YOUR HELP

  • @newCRE1 All you need to do is glue it back on. I'd make sure you're using strong glue. And enough glue. Make sure to let the glue dry/cure before using the camera.

  • @newCRE1 ... and pray your lens doesn't hit concrete. Puredigital uses cheesy sticky stuff to 'fasten' the lens cap. Add all the fine glue you want just remember, joints are as strong as the weakest layer. My Bower magnetc keeps falling off because of that design flaw. Shame on Puredigital.

  • Ummmmmmmm

  • It's the sunpak converter lens kit, right?

  • Love this! Thanks so much for the hack tutorial!

  • Flip is not made by pure digital it's made by cisco

  • @Wethawell Wrong. Pure Digital was the maker of Flip originally and still during the time that this video was created. Cisco bought out Pure Digital and made it just Cisco. Get your facts straight.

  • @NewProductions soz mister expert on camera's amercan freek

  • They do have a lens you can get, but it's only wide angle.

  • Look on eBay, "37mm step up rings" are under $2, get "0.45x 37mm wide angle lens" for $14.95 and if you want a solid suction cup to mount, get Delkin's Gecko for $30 on Amazon. I also bought multi-coated circular polarizer as the wide angle tends to flare a lot. The only thing using Flip with the suction cup in the car is either you'll need to mount the Flip upside down (will record right way, just flip the video in a software) or mount it on either side of the window.

  • Great idea - now hack the hack so you can add some UV filters ;-)

  • whats the little package called so i can find and buy

  • you just made me like my flip alot more =P

  • how much are the step up rings? will they be in the same section as these lenses at best buy??

  • @zenkicookies They come in the same package.

  • @rmdembroski : perfect. thanx bro.

  • could u do this hack to the under water case insted

  • @OhHiItsSam Yup! That's a great idea!

  • you've got a dark rim on the extreme corners of the picture now.

  • hack? riight.

  • So its really easy do...DYI.

  • LOL. Turn on the subtitles and go to 0:40.

    "Allah out on a car!"

  • you wanna find the biggest ring 'see this ones too small' <--- thats what she said!!

  • Can the same ring attach to wide angles and/or fisheyes?

  • uhm this is a great idea but i have a question, can you put a fisheye lens on it too?

  • which camera is better quailty sound and picture/video the ultra hd or the mino hd?

  • @larsentunes4 the sound is about the same but the picture is little bit better then the minoHD

  • so you can buy all these lenses from best buy?

  • This is a GREAT video, but, if you don't want to risk it, just go buy the actual Flip wide-lens accessory from TheFlip.com

  • @ThrashEagle Agreed - it's a brand new option that Flip just started offering. It's not permanent - I do wonder how strong the magnets are. Glad they finally saw how much the community wanted to have a wide-angle option.

  • this video makes me want to buy a flip ultra hd now.

  • or just buy the attachment at TheFlip.cpm

  • How solid of a bond is crazy glue. Would you trust it on the outside of a car?

  • You can also glue toilet seats so people stick too them and fix your cut all with the same tube of magical wonderful superglue. (not a hack though so call it gluing stuff to other stuff and type (hilarious) and see how many hits you get.

  • Should work just fine. For skateboarding I'd imagine that the wider the lens is the better.

  • @rmdembroski alright, and I heard that you can flip around the ring and the lens on the Sunpak lens to make an even wider angle, have you heard of that mod? and does it work?

  • @TheUrbanSkateboarder yeah search through the comments here - someone's had good success with it.

  • @rmdembroski Alright cool, because I didn't want to put my lens at risk for something that wouldn't work. Thank you, your video and comments were a lot of help.

  • @TheUrbanSkateboarder No problem! Thanks for watching!

  • It will work with a .45 lens right? Also would a .45 not look good if using for the purpose of skateboarding or better?

  • I have a quick question. It may be stupid but im new to all cameras! i have a flip mino and when i vlog and hold it its very zoomed in on my face even when i have it far away. Would a lens make it look farther away from my face so i dont have to get an extender to hold it away from my face? do you understand what im saying?

  • @SomeoneNamedAlly Yes - a lens would make you look like you are farther away from the camera. It will also make your face look a little wider, but most of the time people don't notice. Search Wikipedia for "Focal Length" and then go to the section of the article called "In Photography" for the science.

  • @rmdembroski Thanks very much!

  • well time to get a flip ultra hd and a bunch of lenses good thing tomorrow is black friday!!!!!!!

  • Nice video, umm, but umm, you umm should umm work umm on umm your speaking.

  • if u guys want a fisheye effect, with this lense, take the lil black ring off(it unscrews) and flip the lense! then screw it back on! i did it and it looks awesome

  • would this work with a zeikos set?

  • Hey , When i connectmy Flip Ultra Hd to the computer all it shows me is a ''Connected'' and a picture of USB, but it doesnt tell me anything about the battery life , where can i see how much battery it has ?

  • Can u do this on evry cam ?

  • what happened to your thumb mate?

  • @YoutanPoluo Traffic Accident.

    Just kidding. Maybe.

  • my auntie works for flip in the UK + she has the 3rd gen flip ultra! it has focus + a ring for lens's, coming soon after christmas! :)

  • i dunno if its me but the picture looks alot sharper with this lens on.

  • were do u get the lens

  • You have to be very careful with crazy glue and your lenses. The fumes alone can permanently fog up the clear lenses. This happens a lot to people that build plastic model kits of jet fighters. They would glue on the clear canopy and the trapped gasses do a chemical reaction to the clear plastic and fog it up.

  • If you wana know where to buy a cheap flip ultra HD, or mino even, check out my latest video. Its cheaper than anything you would find on Amazon or ebay

  • um is there anything where u can make the flip ultra hd ? if there is and u know plz tell me itd help a lot ty

  • could this turn a flip ultra into a flip ultra HD?

  • @SoftyChicken No - it just makes the image wider - it doesn't add any lines of resolution to go from SD to HD.

  • they came out with a lens like this so u dont have to glue it on its made my flip go check it out on there website

  • dude this is a sick video thanks for the idea bro :]

  • did the battery cover get stuck?

  • @thefreak809 No i didn't glue it to that, it cleared it just fine.

  • Pffft... I grinded down my flip HD lens with a 4" Dewalt grinder and liqiud nailded a random 35mm fish eye lens I got at a garage sale and it works pretty flippin sweet.

  • @newbutthunt Well Done!

  • @rmdembroski Can you use Hot glue? Im getting a flip camera tommorrow and i would like to do this!

  • wouldn't you have to rip off the lense every time you changed the batteries?

  • @masonshumaker No it doesn't effect the battery door.

  • This is brilliant. I would probably to do it a Flip or Aiptek I got on Ebay used because ya, doing it to a new camera just somehow seems scary. It's simple, works and you could probably use that 37mm adapter to add filters too. A polarizer or ND filter can do wonders for these little cameras outside.

Maybe try a model glue that takes a bit longer to dry if you're looking for better hold.

  • thats hella coo.lol

  • Cool, one quick question though. By gluing the 30.5 - 37 mm ring on the Flip, would you be limited only to the wide angle lens or could you still have the freedom of using other lenses?

  • @PaulinoAuyon Any lens that fits that ring - for instance I have a wide and a telephoto lens.

  • @rmdembroski

Oh really? Ah that great! I thought I'd be limited to only that one, seeing you had so many other rings of different sizes. I think I might try this hack out then. Just hope I'm good with glue haha.

  • will duct tape work

  • does the lense cover the mic?

  • fisheye would be even sicker

  • dam thats siiick where did u buy those lens got a website????

  • Comment removed

  • are there any stores that sell that lense? or do I havce to buy it online?

  • are there any stores that sell that lense? or do I havce to buy it online?

  • lol well once you do this, you cant put it in your pocket anymore xD

  • This is absolutely great! I'll be getting my Flip Ultra HD tomorrow (thanks to a blog contest a couple months back) and I was thinking of what I could do to get a bit of optical zoom. I'll look for those lens packs here in my area. Otherwise I might end up buying it online. I don't like the idea of glue though, so I'm going to experiment with rubber bands and thread seal tape. :-)

  • @rcdiugun Awesome! Good luck! And be sure to share your results with us!

  • Does anyone know where they sell the one with the step up rings and not the magnet?

  • i cant find the lenses anywhere, or combopacks anywhere

  • @McCreathBen I got mine at Fry's Electronics today, try there?

  • i did the hack and shaked and then the lens and step up ring ripped off any tips? have you had any problems too?

  • @MmmmmmmmmmmmmmmTASTY Use more glue?

  • I just made a little hack wide angle for my camera, I agree that nowadays, many cameras aren't equipped with threads to put lenses on. So I give ya 5 stars.

I may try the adaptor + super glue idea with mine.

    Thanks!

  • 3min2 - 3min9secs - pure man moment, no multitasking skills whatsoever lol.

  • @skandalukuk Hah! Ouch!

  • @rmdembroski its in our genes dude lool

  • Thats cool

  • @Fathead885 Yes, it works with the Mino.

  • mod the lens pot be a fisheye :P

  • HOLY MOLY man , this is a no brainer for pure digital. And basically i think you might have just invented the poor mans Panavision lol

  • @Recycledhero Hah! Thanks! To be fair I didn't invent it - there were others that did it before me.

  • its so beast

  • can you find fisheyes for that

  • @Dyl1228 You totally can put a fish eye on it!

  • Thanks! Very nice video. I'd run a little bead of hot glue aroundthe outside of the joint to stabilize it...

  • @46ace Not a bad idea! Thanks!

  • its easier if u use a magnetic fisheye

  • AWESOME!
