those lyrics are origin from the song of Shalom Shabazi, was one of the greatest Jewish poets who lived in 17th century in Yemen and now considered the 'Poet of Yemen'.
That "Sly" sample was great. I heard Ice Cube's "The Product" in there too.... "Because I Got It Like That".....really.....why am I not surprised you know anything about that song. You're great... I love the JB's. "Straight Out The Jungle" is an effin underrated classic.

First I'll say I'm a huge fan of these vids. As you can see I've made it to the fifteenth one haha. BUT, I wish he had included the names of the producers who did the sampling. Also, I'll admit it was sometimes funny but for the most part his haughty attitude was annoying. Obviously not everyone is gonna know everything you do guy, we don't all DJ. Lastly who the fuck knows how to read Roman Numerals anymore. Use numbers. But again, love the series. I'll prolly finish them tonight. Peace niggas!
Haughty seems to imply that I am better than others but I think that comes from trying to impress the most educated crate-digger while keeping it simple for the new guy all at the same time. Boasting is hip-hop 101 but disdain for others is not my game. Disdain for the state of hip-hop currently? Yes. Glad you like the series.
i always enjoy your videos but can i put in a little request since your name is dj FUNKtuall can we get some more funk from you possibly the rare funk if you have any which im almost sure you do
A big +1 here man. Def. This one girl called me "old" because I pointed out the daft punk sample that Kanye' paid so much money for. Just...kids are brainwashed these days. Its as though nothing existed before the age of 15 for them. I was listening to "The Chronic" on cassette tap when I was 12.
@funktuall YOU ARE BETTER THAN THE OTHERS. your recall for music just blow me away. You rarely see guys who dj have this much passion and knowledge for hip hop. NAME ANOTHER GUY ON HERE THAT CAN COME CLOSE TO WHAT YOU DO...I DARE ANYBODY.
You Can Make It If You Try was sampled wholesale by Bomb The Bass for Megablast. Love to know what he sampled for the bassline of Bug Powder Dust...it's MEGA!!!
Good looking out funktuall . Shit you taking me back to school homie . I wish I can learn this in music class . Keep doing your thing familia. Just spreading love cause it's the brooklyn way!!!!! Jamming my soul out at this moment. Bless
i have a question? how long have you been DJing for and how was it like growing up in a time when a new form a music was being created did it make you want to start djing or is it stright hobby or a little of both!!??!!
@funktuall That is so similar to my story. I spun my first dance when I was in the 7th grade. Continued through high school. Then put it down when I went to college in 96. I picked it up again when Serato came out in 2005.
iirc lots of people sampled from creative source, like ll cool j - but can't remeber the album name but i have it at home and it was one of my first 2nd-hand lps ;) anyhow.... great show. love it ;)
Dj funktuall da song "U can make it if u try" by Sly n the Family Stone is a "Two 4 oner". Da yeah....yeah,yeah,yeah......yeah,yeah is from Ice Cubes' da product from Kill at Will ep.
Lovin' the series mate. Know quite a few but there's been some gems. When you dropped Edwin Birdsong I was thinking "what are you doing, everyone knows that's daft punk". Fuck pride I'm glad I know.
p.s. IMO hip-hop doesn't get much better than the coldcut remix of paid in full. Quality break, masterful rapping, comedy samples from Jon and Matt and some Israeli vocals.
Could you try to find out the tracks that are sampled in Ice Cube's tracks Dead Homiez, please?
If any of the folk who watch your videos knows the answer, I'd appreciate it if they could fill me in with the details.
The music is incredibly funky on Dead Homiez, which I believe is produced by the under rated Sir Jinx, and I'd love to know what tracks were sampled in the making of it.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEESS FINALLY I WATCHED ALL Movies AND NOW A DJ PREMIER PRODUCTION HELL YEEEE =D Dj Premier top number 1 Producer =D. was waiting like hell and now the first come. GANG STARR!!!
Been a fan from the beginning. Just wanted to give you props for the musical well-roundedness with your Stealie shirt. Interestingly enough, can you name a non-Hip Hop song that sampled a Dead song?
Damn that ending sample before the Ofra Haza track came on ive used before for a drum n bass song but didnt know where it came from. I got it through a loop pack from someone. Thats crazy!!!!
You should really consider getting a tv show. You got the whole package, Great music, very educational, and your very entertaining to watch. I would tune in every week. Thanks for doing these vids
Once again Just Blaze killed another sample with that "What We Do" Freeway,Jay, and Beans killed that good job man Just Blaze has a good ear too but, whats the name and title of the song and artist???
Ummm, no. Boney M is the group I describe in detail during the video and the performer of the song playing. It's a cover of Bob Marley and was sampled by Naughty By Nature. I never said it was THE original version. In fact I say in the video that it is a Bob Marley cover.
Props from the Ohio, you know your music, which is excellent. Back in the 80's, me and my boys from the old-school went through crate after crate from sun-up to sun-down just to know the music of our past. And tell ya girl in the video to keep vibin' with her man, cause to a DJ that means a lot for your girl to understand, appreciate and share the same love for music that you do. Even though I know every song that you post, keep educating these younsters. DJ Melody (turntablist)
Oddly, I have to take this as a compliment because all my energy is natural-born. It simply makes no sense for someone as hyper as me do coke. Now, smoking herbs to try and calm down...that seems plausible.
P.S. I actually don't even smoke weed anymore either. A few pints of Bass Ale is all I need these days. 100% honest. Peace!
Uptown Top Ranking - Althea & Donna is the only sample that I've heard before the actual song that sampled it. :O

Of course. Why?
funktuall 3 years ago
Because your listing says some dude named Boney M originally did it...?
girlsixdiva 3 years ago
Ummm, no. Boney M is the group I describe in detail during the video and the performer of the song playing. It's a cover of Bob Marley and was sampled by Naughty By Nature. I never said it was THE original version. In fact I say in the video that it is a Bob Marley cover.

Well it still seems a bit confusing but thanks for taking the time to upload it.

Here I am talkin' about educating someone, and I proof-read my own text and spelled "youngsters" wrong. Caught myself before the Net blasted me.

I've never done a single line of cocaine in my life, but thanks for your concern. As far as herbs go.....no comment. :P
funktuall 3 years ago
there is no fucking way u havent done coke......no way u probally dont want to admit it to peeps u dont know...i can understand that ......but c'mon
swordswingin 3 years ago
Oddly, I have to take this as a compliment because all my energy is natural-born. It simply makes no sense for someone as hyper as me do coke. Now, smoking herbs to try and calm down...that seems plausible.
P.S. I actually don't even smoke weed anymore either. A few pints of Bass Ale is all I need these days. 100% honest. Peace!
