Trent are you using image stabilization during the recording? It may be only my imagination but it seems that this particular feature is making the video a little bit blurred. I own N95 and E90 and on both phones when I use that feature the movie gets blurred - on the other hand if I don't use it I'll get "jumpy movie" it's so annoying...

I´m just worried about the bugs that the device presents in some functions, but Nokia as soon as possible will release a new firmware version an then all of this will be solved!!

Hey kids! Ofcourse they made the "mistake" of not make e71 a complete device, it's already a grait competitor not to e90, but to n97, and that's a device the enters in the business class, not only " moron with money " class. So for me, that will replace my 2 years old e61-1.

I have an n80 that I use only for mp3 for quick pictures and as a gps mounted on my bike. And I have it as a result of a small scam, so I didn't bought it, this would be the only way I own a old n series.

You can notice a big change in light input into the camera. When he is outside filming the tree blowing in the tornado the white car nearest the camera is a lot lighter on the E90. I think it's a great shame Nokia screwed up here, the could have put in a % meg Camera at 30 Fps and made much bigger sales.

The quality of the picture is not great on both. the E71 seems to have better contrast, but colours are not good, while the E90 takes in too much light, and hence loses contrast. maybe there's a setting to minimize exposure, which will fix the problem. i don't have the phone, so I can't say. BTW, Trent, how do you manage to buy all these phones? My phone's speaker just died (SE P1i), so if you've got extra phones lying around, throw me one, he he...!! BJK§

Nokia official websites indicate that E71 has VGA recording capabilities (but with only 22 fps). Are you sure E71 can only record in low resolution with 15 fps? Check the nokia official web sites (at least in the Europe and USA Nokia sites the e71 specs say 640x480 at 22 fps video recording...)

E71 camera over all is a bummer, but it seems that E71 will be most sold E series device ever at least looking at how fast net stores here in germany are selling them immedialtly when they arrive.

Hopefully that sends a message to N series team to start using more metal on their phones and overall better build quality. Because there really isn't many reasons to get example E66 over N78 for non business users, but i know i would take E66 or E71 over it.

Is it a fair comparison in terms of choosing for a specific purpose? I mean, the E90 (at least here in Holland) will set you back for a whole lot more than the E71 will. Sure, for business users (phone paid by the employer) it wouldné make any difference. But the average videoblogger doesn't have a employee-phone from a employer (let alone the choice for a decent phone, whereas most people only get a simple phone (like a 6300) from their boss).

While video recording on the E71 I have not been able to find a way to turn off the light. As with any other regular digital camera for stills, the flash can be either set to Auto, ON or OFF.

I noticed that the audio on the e71 seems really tinny, but overall despite the differing specs in terms of the image and sound there didn't seem to be the massive difference I was expecting. Is that by any chance due to youtube compressing the video?

To give you an idea about file size, I shot video footage with both the E71 and E90 for a length of 1:02. The E71 file was at 3.3MB while the E90 was 18.1MB.
