This is so awesome. My ruffler foot pleats perfectly but when it's set to gather (1 on the dial) it appears to work, but the stitches all come loose when I pull the fabric out of the machine. I can't figure out why it won't sew the gathers down on this setting. Any advice you have would be so very appreciated!!!

The bobbin thread keeps balling up. If typing with the original foot that came with the machine it sews just fine. I changed the tension and everything else and nothing seems to work. I have a Brother LS-2000 sewing machine and have only had it for a couple of months so I'm brand new to sewing. thank you

Well you inspired me to buy a ruffler foot for my Janome 3160, it is amazingly easy to use. I was struggling with the ruffler on my vintage machines. I like having speed control, rather than using my foot control. It is so quiet and not the least intimidating, I have to figure out it if the Janome has box feeding, I can't remember so I guess I will ask the dealer.If it does maybe I can use this ruffler on my Juki..
I think this is the most informative and well presented sewing video I have seen. I am a professional dressmaker and it's great to see a film that actually gives me the full information and all aspects on a subject. Great presenter. Thank you.

@hmongyanggirl As another viewer mentioned, the ruffler is not for the serger. You can do gathers on the serger, though: Increase your differential to 2 and increase your stitch length for the maximum amount of gathers. This gives you gathers... If you want pleats, you need to use the ruffler on your sewing machine as demoed. Happy serger shopping! If you're in Burlington, ON check us out!

@dececcokm Are the needle and bobbin thread under and to the back of the foot, also you hold the needle and bobbin thread during the first few stitches. You should go at a slower but steady speed. If you have a way of setting the speed on your machine I would use that function.
I have had my ruffler foot for years. It came in a small box with NO insrtuctions. This is a great vidieo. Can you post something about estimating the amount of fabric needed to create diffrent ruffle fullnesses? Again, thanks so much for this GREAT video.

@hmongyanggirl my serger has a serger gathering foot. You can also use the differential feed to do some gathering, you may have to adjust tensions.
