  • Whenever i try to watch this video i get an error :(

  • this fight is probably the stupidest shit i ever seen in the history of youtube fights...

  • Exiting!

  • This is one impressive playing of the song. I play the Er Hu as well, and I can easily vouch for the difficulty of this piece. I'm almost sure one can see that it isn't one easy piece to play. This performer did a fantastic job.

  • very nice. if only the recording was louder!

  • She is adorable - what is she like 12?

  • In my opnion, the horse neighing in the sai ma piece determines your skill. No horse neighing, is like no lum pah.

  • She's good~

  • it could be faster, but she's good for her age! the erhu is a difficult instrument to master...

  • that girl is amAZING. I can only imagine what she'll sound like when she's 20 and still playing. nice work

  • i have a really good recording out a group of erhu players playing this. it's for chinese orchestra the one i have. not MIDI lol

  • i can play that (no really i can!) it my favorite song to play

  • On this instrument?

  • yep! (but to tell you the truth i play in a group so umm fast? well we play a tad bit slower (oh and ares note are a tad bit different

  • this song is so easy. i just performed 桃花過渡 recently as well as 奔驰在千里草原 in vancouver at Michael J. Fox Theatre.

  • cute!

  • 棒得很! 我热爱 :)

  • Wow, she's good.

  • this is a really famous solo song called racing horses on the traditional chinese instrument called the erhu. this song, is a piece about racing horses in mongolia in open fields. this big tradition has been done for thousands of years. the song is to immitate the horses. this is a tradition way older than what you were looking for.

  • ignorance... hope you fall off one of those "horses"

  • whatever, you really hope I fall because I didnt understand your horse racing song? Sorry man..

  • nah not really but next time just STFU before you open your mouth about something you admit that you dont understand.

  • there you go the little fucker is a racist. Should have guessed. Go fuck yourself troll.

  • ok, from what I hear, both of you are in the wrong. You should both respect each other and should have enough descency to privately send messages to each other if you HAVE to fight, and spare us the misfortune of having to hear you two argue.

  • ok, nevermind lol. It seems I got the names mixed up lol. Ok, Zhaopeiyu didn't do anything wrong, but Karos9 did. Sorry Zhaopeiyu, I misunderstood the sentence and at first thought YOU were saying the Erhu is just a bunch of "sticks".

  • Karos9:I am a white from the state of Georgia; albeit that I've graduated highschool and in and out of college, if you don't get it, you simply DON'TGETIT! Now, I'm going to give you a thumbs UP to keep your little comment from collapse. But you must understand, Chinese music is about the FEELING, not lyrics or any bullshit like that. If you can't close your eyes and hear the horses galloping hooves in this song and get a better picture: then you are simply a DUMBASS:&IBEGTHENEXT2THUMBSDOWNHIM!

  • HAH! Well I'm glad that you got that "plug" pulled. It's all cool and good of the expensive stuff that you own.. And also of how well you "know horse racing". I, for one, know nothing about horse racing except it's a buncha crap that lasts two minutes. OK: so from your angle, you're worried about horses and racing.. but from most others' perspectives it is about the music.

And by-the-way 32 of those "little stick toy(s)" would probably cost twice as much as your "powerful" 2 minute horses.

  • Karos9:

You are one of those people who "knows the price of everything, but the value of nothing."

  • This coming from someone who uses the word "deap."

  • OK.. Man this has been months ago, and months ago Karos9 has said his piece and ALSO has made his peace. Karos, I appreciate your offer to inform me on horse racing should I attend one. I will make sure to message you if I go to one. I can tell you that I haven't thumbdowned any one of your comments and as far as I am concerned, you're cool. I understood from this past comment that you meant no harm.

May all your endeavors in life be successful.

    -Tenshi

  • THANK YOU TENSHI ANYTIME YOUR GOING TO ANY TRACK IN U.S LET ME KNOW. Message me and I'll give you what ever info I have at that track hopefully one of my horses is running that day. Thanks again for being cool.

    Karo

  • wow, your very rude

  • playing music with sticks?

  • lol... you fail the internet. Just kill yourself.

  • wow... you are odd.. Dude... its Alfred Hitchcock. Learn how to spell before you type another word here.

  • Agreed. Also, ALFRED HITCHCOCK IS AWESOME!

  • the title of the song in chinese is sai ma.. which means horse racing... bodoh...by the way, that means stupid in malay.

  • you don't know? try to listen it better!

  • 应该还可以拉得更快些。加油,小妹妹!!!

  • amazing @_@

  • This girl has a very graceful stage presence. Wonderful!

  • its hard to hear because of the synth music in the back round.

  • I am so going to learn how to play that shit.

  • Wow...so young

  • what you say is truly ridiculous... its a beautiful instrument.

  • lemme pause the video for a sec I have to pick my jaw up off the floor *****

  • oh this girl plays the erhu so good, it's so impressive

  • HOLY SH*T D: she's amazing

  • wow !

  • *Taiwanese

    I fail at typing

  • 謝謝

    二胡好!!!

  • 2 strings violin and that kind of music?

    thats just awasome! cool!

  • that is INCREDIBLE.

how does she even get that kind of tone out of it??? i am in awe.

  • very well

  • duo xie

  • good stuff

  • very good for her age...rising talent...

  • That's better than the Rolling Stone or U2

  • China was world's undisputed cultural marvel (and also the world's most powerful empire) in the pre-renaissance era. The erhu is a proof. Thank you for posting this. And thank you to Katy Pu for continuing to uphold a beautiful instrument like the erhu. Thank you very much.

  • amazing

  • Oh this song I played it before on my erhu...it was hecka fast but i still had to keep balance

  • G R E A T little !!

  • yeah!

  • Mao prefered piece,

  • I heard this from my schoolmate before =) He got first for solo Erhu in Singapore (16 years)

There was a part where he could produce the sound of the horse neighing by stroking the strings with the bow... That part was absolutely majestic!

Maybe this little girl can do it next time =)

  • Very well done! Do you ever visit Idaho? :o)

  • nope

  • it would have sounded nicer with a yang qin accompaniment as compared to a recorded music. but good speed i must say. =)

  • pitching please???

  • horse racing is famous for decribing the active and crowded atmosphere

  • OMG

this is like....a first grader girl....0.0

  • actually...5th grade

  • it is Good.. i bearly hear any picthing, but at the end of the "sai ma" she din make dat horse's sound perfectly.. but is not bad for the age like this. Keep up the good job girl..

  • the two strings never touch the board. they're tautly suspended a few centimeters in front of the wood, and you just press down on the string with your finger to shorten the length of string that vibrates. you'd snap the erhu if you pressed the strings all the way back to the wood.

  • i thought this was very good.... your so young...

  • the 'mi' tone in the beginning is distinctly off

  • I can explain, you see the Er Hu uses the same do re mi thing except it is just memorized position because the sound could vary on different songs

  • An erhu has a long roundish neck and one single string that is pressed with the fingers of the left hand. Kind of like a one stringed chinese cello. haha, that girl is GOOD

  • Erhus have two strings and a bow that goes between them, fiddlefiend.

  • you mean 2 strings...

  • while most have two strings, there are one string versions available occasionally

  • Or do the strings only needed to be touched with the fingers?

  • I'm still wondering how it works, it doesn't have a fretboard. Can somebody explain?

  • it is just like a violin and you have to memorize the positions in order to get notes that are on the european scale {or notes that exsist}

  • So you pin the strings between your fingers and something of hardwood to shorten or lengthen the string? Whatever note you want...

Cause it doesn't look like it has a hardwoodboard xD

But thank you very much for your reply, it was very helpful.

  • no problem but ya... it is just pinched against the wood cause the lengthe to become shorter making a higher pitch

  • cool

  • Great stuff

  • It's amazing how proficient they are at such a young age.

  • She is so good! The outfit is very nice too!

  • oh my god.. she is sooooo cute..

  • She is so good. x]

  • NICEY!!!! Are you applying to Beijing Conservatory!?

  • anyone know where i can buy one of these 'erhu'?? she convinced me to play now ^^

  • Yah, but she's a kid. Think about it that way.

  • George Gao is better :-)

  • i luv to play tis song with er hu. she's gd man.

  • haha i play as well. nice

  • ur soo good at it! great job! cute outfit too! lol

  • Wow! Very good, well done! Pretty outfit too!

  • The 12 Girls Band also have this song on one of their CDs.

  • That's fantastic!

Is that a western bow she's using? If it isn't it looks very similar.

I may consider buying an Erhu.

  • The erhu bow is similar in design to a western violin bow.

  • like double bass bow?

  • AWESOME!!! It sounds just like the Barrage version! That little girl is amazing!!

  • amazing! I'm learning erhu too!!!

  • she's good

  • Wow I wish I could play the Erhu. Childhood favourite for its depressing sound

  • that's an awesome instrument! she's real good... with the cute dress and everything

  • WOW she is realy good! I was listening, and thinking wait! i herd this song before!!! its I herd it on Karen Hua Qi Han's web site! you can hear it hear, it plays automaticaly.

    http://www.karenhan.com/

hmm... maybe a futer Karen Han

  • haha..erhu rulz!i m oso a erhu player.

  • I want to learn how to play that instrument. It would have been perfect if she played louder. That's just me, but she's amazing. I give her a 10 out of 10.
