  • Just to mention... We are NOT people without COUNTRY! We are a people without STATE - what makes a decisive difference. Our Country is Лемковына and nothing changed recently (Just been there)

And a little question - what the hell is the meaning of those funny ukrainian galligaskins and women costumes on the stage??? NO-f**king-ONE used to dress like this in the Lemko-land for God Almighty's sake!

  • @scumimpaler You really need to read the other statements that have been made about the meaning of the title before you comment rashly. I'm not being insulting, and I have no interest in starting a youtube comment war as everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but the reality is the Lemkos are a forgotten people, no one knows who they are outside of a few communities in central Europe, and the Polish government would rather sweep their history under a rug then talk about it. So whatever.

  • @BohemianIndustries I assume that you know the matter well, so you probably know how grave is problem of Lemko identity nowadays - especially regarding actions and attitude of Ukraine. Lemkos are "forgotten" you say. OK. So the movie will remind some people about Lemkos. OK. Many of people will learn from that movie, what to think. When I see cossack uniforms (WTF!?) related to Lemko culture shown in this catchy way I cannot leave that without reaction. Just my sacred duty. Nothing personal.

  • @scumimpaler Totally fine to react in such a way. It's a subject and topic that many people feel very passionate about. Yes, there are Cossack uniforms in the trailers, but it was at a Lemko festival where that shot was filmed... which underlines part of the problem with the perceived identity of what is a Lemko. The film itself aims for neutrality on the topic, and serves more as an introduction to Lemkos for non-Lemkos.

  • @BohemianIndustries Sounds soundly, therefore I hope there are more events than that pro-ukrainian festival to be seen in the movie. Just to preserve neutrality.

  • @BohemianIndustries that person youre responding 2 is obviously very ignorant. As a child i was very confused because being born in Poland and being lemko was confusing in itself. ive been living in the US for about 27 yrs now and people here know even less than anywhere else. Its so hard explaning 2 people that dont understand so i take the easy way out and say im Ukrainian. im so looking forward 2 the film, when and where will it be avaiable?

  • Ooooh... What a Hollywood-like monumentalism... Being a Lemko I now feel almost like some forgotten pirate from the "Black Pearl", or maybe a minor warrior from the William Wallace's army! :D

  • I've had quite a few emails from people inquiring when and where they can purchase a copy of the film. Currently, we are improving the film (fresher edit, enhanced effects, new original music and improved sound quality). Due to this, the film that premiered in January of 2010 is actually going through a bit of an overhaul to improve the film as I see fit, and to also make for a film that all of you can be more pleased with.

I thank you all for your patience, and your patience will be rewarded.

  • I want to see it as long as it is not another propaganda film. Historically speaking Ukraine is a country of many nation. I hope it does not divide Ukraine into pro Russian or pro Ukrainian parts again. I am sure Lemkos a big part of Ukrainian history and they have been leaving in that regions for centuries. It is one of most unfamiliar part of my history as I was born in Ukraine.

  • The film will be available for purchase if not by Christmas of this year, then by the Spring of next year.

I do apologize for the long delay in making this film available, as it has been seen at some film festivals so far. I am doing everything I can to make sure this film can be had soon.

  • @BohemianIndustries Thank you I would Love to buy a Copy!!! I am Rusyn as Well.

  • Until Slavs have their own country, we are all from nowhere.

  • @slavensko The film takes its title from the famous Andy Warhol quote, "I am from nowhere." He said this in reply to where he was from, which was from a Slovakian Rusyn/Lemko family.

Until the Rusyns/Lemkos have their own country, or until they are officially recognized as their own distinct ethnicity, they are in reality, a people without a country. Which is a theme of this film based off of the interviews with historians and educators as well as the people themselves.

  • @BohemianIndustries I was in Moscow in 2000 and watched a Russian documentary on Warhol where they stated that Warhol was Russian...What a slap in the face and what rubbish....Russians are most missinformed people in the world perhaps, their media continues to lie….

  • I cant wait for this film, im Lemko born in Poland living in the USA and tell people im Ukrainian, crazy and confusing but its exactly because people dont know we exist.

  • Too dramatic of a song for this documentary - people are laughing and not always serious. The song seems bit too serious for the laughing

  • Ugh! I don't want to wait anymore! LOL

Can't we order an 'advance' copy? hehe

  • where in Canada?

  • "Lemky" was never beeing independent. It is prahistorycal ethnographical part of Ukrainiane nation. "Lemkyvschyna" has been found by Kievan Rus' , direct heir of Ukraine. It is a reason why lemkos calls also "rusyn". Today the most territory of Lemkyvschyna is consist of Poland (67%) and Slovakia (21%). Other 12 % belong to Ukraine.

  • Where can i get this movie ????

  • The film isn't for sale yet. It premiered in January, but now I'm working out a release plan. You'll probably be able to buy the film by next summer though. I know its not that soon... but time gets going.

  • @BohemianIndustries Ugh! I don't want to wait anymore! LOL Can't we order an 'advance' copy? hehe

  • Looks good.... I hate it when the Lemko people get refered to as Ukrainian... WE are not ukrainians , Because of the Ukrainian UPA and Bandera , akcja Visla occured. Our Lemko people got butchered because of these ukrainians.

  • @ivanko2007 ????

  • Do Ukrainian Greek Catholics fit into this group? "I Am From Nowhere" seems to be what I found out in my father's family history. They were Ukrainians, but none of them came from Ukraine. They were from Hungary, Slovakia and Poland. Help?

  • what country is this in?

  • It was filmed on location in Poland, Slovakia, Canada, and the United States. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it out to Ukraine... but when I do the follow up film, I'll be there and a whole lot more.

Btw, for all those interested, the film is currently in consideration to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January. Fingers crossed.

  • i dont get it what are you trying to say is that Polish people are from nowhere? and have no history or culture? i am lost i dont understand what its about

  • This is the story about a people who are called Lemkos. They are also known as Rusyns, or Rusnacks, and what have you.

They are an ethnic group from the lower Carpathian region of Poland, Ukraine, and Slovakia.

Their story is one that has been tragically ignored, as they have had ethnic cleansing committed against them and are only now starting to reignite their culture and history. Yet, no one knows about this, so the film is telling their story and their history as best it can.

  • ahh ok makes sense i was a little lost in the begging i am Polish too thats why i was curiouse and confused

  • No worries man, but thanks for asking as well. Its why I made the film, to help show the world that there are people and cultures like this out there who have been completely ignored by the larger populace (and even smaller one). So hopefully the film does a good job of telling their story. I think it does, but hey, I made it! Ha.

  • @BohemianIndustries ,

In fact, there are Rusyns in souther slavic countries too (Croatia, Serbia). Though they are mostly melted into dominant Croats and Serbs, still they exist as separate national minority.

  • Ruteni, Rusini, Rusiči, Rusnaci, Rušnjaci, Lemko, Bojko, Huculi, Hornjaki, Cotaki, Hutoraki...

  • rusin......

  • lemkos are the best

  • When the film is formally finished, it will be taken around the film festival circuit in 2010, and will be made available for sale beginning in the summer of 2010.

But I greatly appreciate your interest in the film, and I will make sure to find many ways to promote it and have it seen around the world as best I can.

  • Cool trailer. I'm from western PA and my grandmother told me that my relatives came from that area and that they were called Rusyn. I never really knew much about them but it has been interesting to learn and I'm looking forward to your film this summer. I'll check it out when I get back from overseas for sure.

  • Ko smo mi uopste?

  • This is EPIC!

  • thank you so much for this!

  • hey isnt that the music from the star trek trailer? wait...

  • Noob! =)

  • "Lemko", eh. We'll just see about that!

  • Absolutely brilliant. Can't wait to watch this. All the best!

  • Thank you very much for the video, hope to see full film

as to music, it's Two steps From Hell Freedom Fighters

  • I'm really interested and seeing this and I know my mom would be especially interested. I'll have to make a mental note to look for it in 2010.

  • Wow!!! I am pretty blown away. Its great that you are doing/did this. I have been doing research and writing on this matter for a while now...It will be interesting to see the point of view taken. How do we go about seeing this? How do we get a copy?

  • Thanks for the interest.

I'm going for a film festival release, starting in January of 2010. While the film will be done before then, I have certain rules to follow to get into the festivals I want.

After that run though, and I plan on doing as many festivals as possible I'll put out a DVD on the film sometime in 2010. There is also going to be a coffee table like companion book to the film from the stills my friend took while out there.

As for the POV... it's mainly an intro about Lemkos.

  • And by intro I mean this: Who they are (I'm not bothering with the different perspectives on "what" a Lemko is... it's an intro for the uninitiated). Where they come from. What has happened to them (the genocide through assimilation, etc.). Who, where, and what they are today. In a nutshell.

  • The music is off the soundtrack Batman: The Dark Knight it's composed by Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard

  • When does this documentary come out??? I'm Lemko decent! thank you for doing this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The documentary is currently in the final stages of editing, and is shooting to be released at the 2010 Sundance Film Film. If it doesn't get into that... well, then the plan is to go to as many smaller film festivals as possible.

Stay tuned for there will probably one more trailer, as well as a formal announcement of when the film will be released.

    Thanks for the love.

  • Well, the music is really intense. Ha! I knew it would be though. Personally, I think I get barely away with it because there is a mystery to it all.

But hey, I completely understand where you're coming from.

  • Good job man. The song felt a bit too intense for the footage that was shown, but otherwise a really good job.

  • Excellent! Can't wait to see the while feature
