Amazing scene! I adored Emily. LOVED that Rory said that Lorelai was all that she needed. And after reading some comments saying tha Rory should understand her father for not leaving Gigi because he "left her - I totally disagree. Because he is leaving and AGAIN for anoth child would make any child feel anger and jealousy. Also as he hurt her mother who seriously raised her alone- she only really sees her mother as a parent and Chris hurt her.
random but proves how much gilmore girls has seeped into my life, the last time i saw this episode when emily said "something's burning" in my kitchen my toast was burning, so now everytime that happens i hear emily gilmore telling me so!
I don't think Chris deserved what he got here. I mean, he was completely serious when he said he wanted to be a family, with Lorelai and Rory. But Sherry got pregnant - what could he do? He was doing the right thing by marrying her. He didn't want what came to him, and I think it's not right for Rory and Lorelai to blame him for that. It's really not his fault.
@payneicecold3000 Yeah, really. I mean, I'm not really a big fan of Christopher in general, but here he did nothing wrong. Sure, maybe they did need some space, which is understandable - maybe he shouldn't have barged in like that, but Rory makes it sounds like he did something horrible. What did she want him to do, leave his other child like he left Rory? She especially should understand.
@XshamosasX I mean they both have a right to be mad at Chris but thet guy was going to come out looking bad no matter what he did. How was Chris supposed to know that Sherry was pregnat, I think he made the right choice. I loved Chris because he reminded me of a real person, like his issues is something we all go through. He was a young father that wasnt there for most of his child's life. Say what you want to say about him but he loved those girls.
@payneicecold3000 Well, I liked him at times, but he became a jerk later on especially with the whole Luke thing, I started to hate him. I do agree though, he always loved them and here he made the right choice.
@XshamosasX I dont think he did anything wrong with the whole Luke thing Lorelia slept with Chris during that time. Plus I dont think that Luke and Lor are good for each other. when i see them two on screen I think BEST FRIENDS. When I see Lor and Chris I think passion heat love like their scenes together are awesome. I think Chris made mistakes like all people do he is no angel but dont like the good goody Luke he just seems like a kill joy at times.
@payneicecold3000 I'm not talking about that part specifically, but in the 5th season too when he broke them up. And that's your opinion, I love Luke and Lorelai. But I actually really like Chris and Lor as a couple too, but I dunno, there's just something about Luke and Lorelai haha. I actually see the opposite, I see Chris and Lor as the best friends who know each other so well but would never make it as a long-term couple.
@XshamosasX Yeah I can see where your coming from, I like these debates because I stand up for Chris and Lor. I just didnt like Luke he just seems like Lor's best friend, idk maybe its because of their chemistry on stage.
@XshamosasX I personally think Chris deserved what got. people seem to forget what actually happen to get them to this point. Chris shows up in town says the relationship is over but never actually states that Sherry knows its over (if it was stated please point to the line and scene) cheats on her, then makes Lorelai and Rory believe that they will be a family, getting both of the hopes up.
@XshamosasX Okay sorry ran out of room so part 2. Since it was never stated whether both parties knew about the brake up or not, Sherry's news would have been happy news ,since given the impression I got, she didn't know that he got back with Lorelai. Chris deciding to go back to Sherry basically then crashing their hopes with that.
@Darkwiccawillow No I'm pretty sure Sherry knew. He wasn't cheating on Sherry with Lorelai; he never actually states that explicitly, but he says that they're taking a break. It's implied that they broke up and both of them knew it. And he does want a family with Lorelai and Rory, but then Sherry gets pregnant, and, well. He meant what he said when he told Lorelai he wanted to try to be with her but he couldn't exactly help it with the pregnancy. He did the right thing.
I love how Emily is saying "I didnt do this" , then she takes Lorelai's side but she is so worried about the maid that day can even have the moment lol.
Emily Loves Lorelai it just hurts when your daughter runs away from you, thats a pain not that many parents understands. Emily has a hard time dealing with it and how much Lorelai has changed but she respects Lorelai and will always love her. I was on Chris side on this one but I was like FINALY you stick up for her.
@payneicecold3000 God Chris is a total and absolute ass, loveable occasionally and capable of inspiring awe moments. but he is a loser. He bailed on Rory when she was little barely there when she was growing up and then decides to get it together (and not very well I might add) and force himself back into Rorys life. And Lorelai out of the goodness of her heart and let him back in when she could have been totally justified in telling him to get lost.
@MultiKswift The fact that she even when out of her way to try and make sure there relationship was good when he was consistantly bailing on Rory shows what a good person she is, and the fact that otherwise Rory wouldnt have a relationship with him. Lorelai does everything for Rory she humiliated herself in front of his parents and made herself look stupid when his parents were attacking Rorys existence while he stood there and did nothing.
@MultiKswift Hes lucky Rory forgave him at all he truly and totally crushed her at that point. I totally get where shes coming from, and he is totally out of line barging into their lives like that when he broke their hearts. What idiot wouldnt give them time to process. I really feel for Lorelai (And REALLY REALLY HATE CHRIS) in this one, I mean partically at the end.
@MultiKswift Eugh, this makes me really made. I cant belive anyone would be on Chris's side for this. (Sorry for Tirade...I blame the very emotional episode.)
@MultiKswift Sorry for the whole message, not very sure if you saw it but not all of the words would fit in a single message box. Its actually kinda embarrasing not that I look at the boxes. But I still stand by the point that in this episode Chris it a total jackass.
@MultiKswift Chris made mistakes ae all do if I was in his shoes at his age I would make the same choices. No matter what he would have done at that point he would have hurt someone. If he would have choice Lorelai then Sherry would have been hurt with Gi Gi not having a father around. Its like you guys feel like he shouldnt do anything wrong. Lorelai isnt a Angel either by the way she slept with Chris while he was with Sherry. I just think he is not all that bad thats all. What do you think?
@new0extra This is Haunted Leg, and the reason they're fighting is because Christopher found out his ex girlfriend Sherry was pregnant right after he and Lorelai were going to give it a second shot, so he left Lorelai and Rory so he could be with Sherry.
What Rory said was stupid 'I always understand but I don't want to understand!' doesn't make any sense. Also, it would've been better if Loelai had actually thanked Emily for defending her (though Emily could've been a bit more agressive to Chris). Too bad there was never any really happy/intimate scenes with Emily and Lorelai.
@nomsicle Rory made sense. Rory say's she understands, but she's done alway's turning a blind eye on her father and slapping on a smile on her face to pretend everything's okay.
I swear, Lauren Graham should have won an Emmy just for this scene alone. She is so amazing and convincing, I can't even imagine being able to act half as good as she does. love herrrrr.
The way she says "then honey, we are where we are - accept that" gets me every time. It's heartbreaking. Lauren Graham knows how to pack an emotional punch.
@daisybabe277 its the one time that you can believe that emily cares about lorelai. emily was always bullying her about the fact that rory needed both perents and then shes defending lorelai. its just perfect
@KazWhittle that's rubbish, of course emily cared about lorelai she's her daughter... they were just never on the same page about anything. lorelai has her faults along with emily, they are both very similar. you sound as if you've barely watched gilmore girls haha
@KazWhittle actually Emily cares alot about Lorelai, you dont get to see it often, theres many signs of that. the main reason she tends to be negative around her is because she is clearly hurt when Lorelai ranaway and it seems Emily would rather antagonize her daughter than admit she hurt her, but in those rare moments you do see Emily really does love her. but I do think this was the first time we got to see Emily stick up for Lorelai I could be wrong I havent seen the early seasons in a while
I know that this is wicked cheesy but the major theme that comes up in Christopher's character and his storyline is that Blood is Thicker than Water. Like in the episode I'd Rather Be In Philadelphia Lorelai and Emily are talking about cliches and are like blood is thicker than water. And in this episode Emily is normally on Chris's side but Lorelai says to him that he's hurting her, Emily's all Get The Hell Out Of My House.
I adoooore this scene and I have loved the whole ChrisLorelai fiasco from day one. Their kisses are the best kisses, their fights are the best fights... I adored this scene!
I wish I could like Christopher more. He seems like a fun guy, and you can tell he and Lorelei were good together once. But he is so selfish. He improves a little with Gigi, but you can see in this scene how he isn't thinking of Lorelai or Rory, or even Sherry and the baby, but just how he feels about it and how he wants things to be. I like him as background character, but Luke was so much better for Lorelai.
Chris was UNHEALTHY for Lorelai. I did enjoy their scenes together, though. Good chemistry. I just think her love for Luke was healthier and on a deeper level. Luke was the better man for Lorelai. Glad they ended up together in the end! After seeing L&L I can't believe they expected me to believe Chris/Lorelai in S7. They were too tumultuous as a couple.
shame on you christopher!! I really like that scene although it's pretty sad..you can really see that Lorelai is hurt and she wanted to be with Christopher again.
Whew. Ok. Rant done now. :D

That man has always annoyed me! I mean he always breaks Lorelai's heart he's selfish he's childish and he's christopher!

Really? I know it was all anger in the moment, but I think she handled herself very well in that argument. Much much better than I would have.
