  • i like brown rice and fruit. i'm not fat

  • Good for you! Keep it up and consider yourself fortunate.

  • well, now there are people trying to say that Low Carb is bad for the brain. there´s even a joke video I saw on youtube ( Low Carb Zombies ) but the brain works pretty well on ketonic bodies with a small glucose provided both from diet and gluconeogenesis. I used to have a lot of fear about this, because many say "glucose is mandatory for brain" but no, its not.

  • I saw that "zombies" video--IDIOTS! If they knew the value of ketones on the brain as Dr. Larry McCleary shared in his book THE BRAIN TRUST PROGRAM, then they'd see the folly in their ignorance. Slowly but surely we'll get everyone educated on this stuff. :)

  • Sorry Jimi, I got it backwards.

Was it your LDL cholesterol that was elevated at at that time?

  • It still is...but the latest research shows LDL is not as important as the HDL/triglyceride ratio. Mine is FABULOUS and my LDL are the large fluffy kind that are protective. Low-carb is a VERY good thing regardless of what doctors wanna say about LDL or total cholesterol.

  • Hey Jimmy, I remember about a year ago or something. I read in one of your blogs that your HDL cholesterol was slightly high and I was wondering if you ever found out what was causing that. I'm guessing that you did get them down to a lower level.

  • Actually, high HDL is a VERY good thing x00p3. That's your good cholesterol, the kind that you WANT to be up. My last reading for HDL was 71 and my triglycerides were 43. That's an AWESOME ratio that I challenge any doctor in America to tell me that's unhealthy. Anyone? :)

  • She should probably increase her intake of good quality fats so that she doesn't crave carbohydrates. In my case, raw unpasteurized fats from dairy such as cream and butter, cheese has helped tremendously. I eat those liberally. Organ meats are also excellent, as are egg yolks. Since I've adopted this habit, my cravings from sugar, even fruits, have vanished. Vegetables aren't even appealing anymore, but a nice bowl of raw cream is!

  • Thanks fredoreo! She's doing a lot of that now. :)

  • Great post Jimmy. Good luck Christene on the lower-carb version and thank you for the lessons you learned that you share with the rest of us ! JayCee

  • We're excited to see what will happen, JC! :)

  • enjoyed the information. I always enjoy your video's.

  • THANKS Teresa!!! :)

  • I just want to thank you for your informative videos. I did Atkin's years ago with great success, but now three years later, I have found myself needing to lose 30-40 pounds. I will be watching your videos to keep me inspired and motivated. Thank you! :)

  • THANKS for your comments! I KNOW you can lose those pounds, so be encouraged that it WILL happen. Believe it!!! :) THANK YOU for watching.

  • good luck on the exercise Christine! I know you will be like oh I dont want to, but when you do it and get it over with for the day you will be so happy that you did it!

  • THANKS Tony! She's doing AWESOME so far and had taken well to my training her too. I'm shocked, but so very proud of her.

  • What plan is Christine gonna be following?

As I posted before I eat about 80 carbs daily but they come from veggies, small amount of oats and dairy.

It is that balance that Christine needs to get. If she maintains on 150 carbs I would say she could do about 100 to get the triglycerides down. 100 carbs with plenty of fat and protein and calories should allow her to heal without losing weight.

  • Right now we've got her on pretty strict low-carb to kickstart her triglycerides moving downward. We're consulting with various low-carb doctors and researchers to find the right carbs to add back into her diet to make this the right one for her. THANKS Lynn!

  • Thanks for this segment! I am new to Atkins and my neighbor and I are eating low carbs, but my friend cheats a lot saying her weight is OK so it is OK.... I will have to get her to view this one.

  • THANKS Amanda! Most people look at their weight as the indicator of their health. It's such a shame. Welcome to livin' la vida low-carb! :D

  • Very Informative!...i guess its easy to forget that even while lowcarbing u should never assume your healthy...I hope christine gets her levels down soon! :)

  • Oh she will, SexyEyez89! I cringed every time I saw Christine eating fries or breaded chicken on a bun because I knew it wasn't healthy. But her weight was in order and that's all that mattered. I think she now realizes that was shortsighted to assume her health was too.

  • great webisode again, good luck christine

  • THANKS simplystrick! We appreciate you watching!

  • You can do it Christine!

  • Yes she can...I'll make sure of that! :P

  • Awesome on the exercise, Christine! I know it will make you feel so much better. Sorry to hear about your HDL/LDL levels. I think you'll be fine from here on out, just trust God and do the best you can.

  • Actually, her HDL and LDL were GREAT! It's her triglycerides that were elevated and we've got a great plan of action to get 'er done. She surprised me when she did so well with the exercise. WOO HOO!

  • oh, my bad. :)

  • It's all good! Her HDL went up (which is good) by about 5 points and her LDL went WAY down by about 50 points. This was the good news that got offset by the big 297 for her triglycerides. EEEK!

  • Christine's gone off and donated her body to science, LOL. I'm glad though, girl--I know this vid will help others. I think Dr. Atkins suggests omega-3's and l-carnitine-- maybe that'll help you too gal! Good Luck, sweetie.

  • THANKS Spikyhairedgirl! We've got her eating lots of healthy omega-3's and even got her lifting weights. Coolio! :D

  • Good luck Christine. Exercise will do wonders.

  • She did GREAT with it on her first try. Here's hoping it sticks! :D

  • Thanks peeps :o)

  • You're welcome! THANKS for watching!

  • Good luck Christine! With spring coming you should be able to get out and do some fun stuff like swimming, riding bike, etc. I'm sure you and Jimmy will enjoy the walks as well. My guy and I have some of our best chats on our walks together. :)

  • We did enjoy our first walk. I even got Christine to do a weight lifting workout before our walk which was cool to train her. Light weights, heavy reps. SHE DID AWESOME!!!

  • I enjoyed this segment so much because I'm experiencing similar problems with test results -elevated cholesterol and blood sugar. I've just gone back to the Dr. for another blood test and have follow up appt. next week.....I will be watching what ya'll do very closely! Thanks for doing your you tube series. It's great!Jeri

  • Hang in there jkaey5011! We'll pray goo things for you, too. :)

  • This is so true, weight lose doesn't mean healthy. I too am trying to lower those pesky tri's. Let's kick the butt of diabetes!

  • You're gonna do it! Just keep lowering those carbs and eating that fat for GREAT results on your triglycerides and HDL. :)
