  • What's he doing in front of a cross ?

I thought he was Jewish ?

    I love the song though!

  • Inutial feeling: "Every artist is a cannibal, every poet is thief" that guy that calls himself "Bono" Whatever, this song is interesting, but stiil feel that Paul is undeserving of the the mainstage... or is he? Whatever...

  • Interesting that the video was censored. For example, where a lone child sits in front of a white wall onto which 'violencia racial' is inscribed...

  • great

  • the drumming is so amazing :D

  • That's a cool marching band!

  • 7 People denied the obvious child....

  • Paul Wise of music

  • 7 people are obvious.

  • @iw32 Obvius.... but deaf.... not child!

  • Saw Paul Simon in 1992 in Sacramento, CA. Totally remember half, literally HALF, of my HS class going to his concert. We were surround by oldies, kept yelling @ us to sit down. Did that keep us from standing up and dancing? NOPE! The oldies were pissed as if we were their kids. I'm 38 years old now and still remember that! What did Paul Simon do? He looked up, straight at us "belligerent kids," turned his body (guitar and all) & sang! Even the oldies stood up and danced!

  • The Afro Brazilian group Olodum is the first to show the world the energy and the power of the drums !!!!!!!! Such a great energy... thanks OLODUM...I LOVE IT !!!!!!!!

  • Such a great song, albeit sad song of a son lost to mental illness.

  • @cherie7739 no its not.

  • I love the song but just one question. Doesn't the drum part at 3:18 sound a bit like the opening to "Rock & Roll" by Led Zeppelin? I know it is completely coincidental. I guess the song remains the same after all.

  • Paul Simon is a genius. He has created one of my favorite songs of all time (it comes second, under the Final Countdown and above Poison),in which he builds up tention with a short story about him and his wife who have a child called Sonny, and then the big, amazing and magnificent drum solo. I have never seen better drummers in my life! 10/10, no question.

  • I <33 the drummss

  • im a huge metal fan, but i still turn on the ole paul simon cd's from time to time haha

  • The tall guy to seriously talented Paul Simon's left looks like he's got the magic.

  • Its just so inspired.

  • Yes it is in brazil, If you see The Amazing Race 14 it was a place where the frat boys had to go all the way to the top on their knees

  • amazing drums!crank that!

  • one of my all-time favorite songs. it looks like this was filmed outside the st. francis cathedral by the "pella" of salvador, brazil. can anyone verify this?

  • It was filmed in a church of Pelourinho.

    Salvador city, Bahia/Brazil.

In 1998, Michael Jackson played the song "They don't care about us" in the same place with the same group, Olodum. But Paul Simon was magic!

  • Wonderful song! You younger people don't know how happy it makes me to read your favorable comments about Paul Simon. I'm glad to know some of the kids have good taste in music. Paul Simon is an American Treasure.

  • I never had seen something so fantastic...great!!!

    Bach , jequié

  • Honestly, one of best songs i've heard..period

  • man he is one of the best of all time

  • hey you from Russia, we don't speak spanish in Brazil

  • i like it...amazing

  • I love the part the way he sings in 0:50

  • WOW!!! AMAZING!

  • if i remember correctley did they have the male dancers at the end of this video?? that was a very good part to that.. any hooo Paul Simon can save the world with his songs.. BRILLIANT xxx

  • Paul Simon man... no matter how much I'm down, I can throw on this song or any other Simon for that matter, and instantly feel better!

"Im accustomed to a smooth ride

Or maybe Im a dog whos lost its bite

I dont expect to be treated like a fool no more"

  • Axé babá, meu pai

  • Sem comentários...louco, louco, louco e mais um pouco.

    Abraços aos irmãos da Bahia

    firmeza total !!!!!!!

  • I think the Caribbean drum troops are the epitome of island culture. I was recently in Orlando and saw a great show that involved drums, tin drums, and dancers. Damn near spiritual. I hated coming back to Colorado.

  • What hell are you talking about?????????????????????????????????

This is Olodum. They are from Brazil. This is COMPLETELY NON-CARIBBEAN!! Geez man.

  • Of course, Olodum, of course. Who wouldn't know that! Ha-ha. Doesn't change how cool it is - sorry about my inability to differentiate. Like I said - I live in Colorado.

  • ...BESIDES, for someome who was so persistent in his reply, you seemed to overlook the fact that this is not Olodum, but Paul Simon. Next time, before criticizing so harshly, make sure you know what YOU are talking about. GEEZ MAN!

  • ER...Paul Simon WITH Olodum.

  • I hate to break it to you but Disney/Orlando is not in the same universe compared to actually visiting either the islands or Brazil. Don't go to church at wal-mart.. Know what I mean?? Also rombizo fails to mention Afro-Cuban or Afro Brazilian

music which is both latin and afro/caribbean based music... Geeez man yourself.

  • I had to go back and check, and it is confirmed: No where in my post does it suggest that a trip to Florida is the same as a trip to the actual locations depicted. When you take a "family" trip to Orlando, Florida, it's strictly to "get away" and give the kids a chance to sample "examples" of what is out there in the world so that they can become interested, and possibly explore those areas themselves one day. Relax, brother. (But I liked the "church at Wal-Mart" crack-back - made me laugh.)

  • Just messing with you man, glad you enjoyed it. There is so much good music out there to explore it's a great feeling when you find something new.

  • see you got your own little thing going here. i like paul.

  • why did vampire weekend make such an old looking video?

  • haha

  • I think you are a little confused.

  • Bello, bello.

  • Love it :)

  • I remember this song being played a lot when I was little. My parents played this song a lot.

  • my mum loves this song she always plays it sooo loud in her car lolz

  • bloody marvellous!

  • This is my funeral music!!

  • Pimba!!!

  • those guys never miss a step....

  • i dont expect to be treated like a fool no more

  • deh do u really fink so!deehhhhh. but wiv out ver beatles music dee, u a bit thick or what?

  • Learn to speak english you fool.

  • i was being sarcastic to whoever ok get the jist please deeerrr

  • i think they should make a movie with only paul simon music, like Across the Universe but without the beatles music

  • well, there's 'One Trick Pony' from 1980 stars Paul Simon and he plays music..

Late in the Evening is an groovy song on that film.

  • Does this song not make you want to get up and girate or something. So much energy!!

  • Yep!

  • I absolutely adore Paul Simon. <3

  • great song! legendary musician!

i have the full version of the video on The Essential Paul Simon CD/DVD. :)

  • This song we most to do in the schoolband.

    I love this song!.

  • Ooops! I am the fan Paul Simon took in as a guest in the set while he was turning this video in Salvador-Bahia. I forgot to say that I actually happen to be from Salvador-Bahia. Paul Simon in the streets of my hometown, Salvador: it was like a dream come true.

  • I was there, when he was turning this video... I was 17 years old and the greatest Paul Simon fan in the world (I still am).I got to approach him, and he took me into the set as a guest. One of the happiest and the most unforgettable moments of my life.

  • im jealous! just kidding. lol! did you have a great time?

  • he has such an addicting voice! it's so ordinary but i can't stop listening to him. question, what style would you say his music is? i can't really pinpoint what it would be

  • Ive loved Paul Simon from when he was part of Simon and Garfunkle, over 25 years ago still a rocking talent, still relevent music even in todays genre, phenominal musician.

  • beautiful voice...the song mitica

  • Fecking awesome

  • I adore this man....I adore this song from Rhythm of the Saints.

  • WOO HOO! TURN IT UP! ROCK ON, PAULY BABY! :)

    Thanks for adding this! Peace

  • That's the rythm, man!

I coud play it over and over and over agin.

    Great music!

  • A Bahia é o lugar mais lindo do mundo, e acompanhado pelo olodum melhor ainda....

    I love to bahia!!!!!

  • LOVE IT!

  • NOTABLE!!!!...

me acuerdo mis tiempos de colegial.. snif..

y mi gira de estudios en bahia...GRANDE BRASIL!!!

  • Good song! Salve a Bahia, que o coração do BRASIL!

  • Paul's a bad singer? I guess that's why he's sold a kazillion records and won dozens of Grammy Awards. I guess that's why he was the Libraryof Cogress' first Gershwin award recipient. "Bad singer" my ass. Sheesh.

  • bad singer, paul simon is awesome... who is this person??

  • Wow.

Not to be mean or anything, but Paul Simon has great voice whether you like it or not. It may not be to your liking but, dang, surely its liked by a lot of people. You can't deny that.

  • I don't entirely disagree. I wouldn't call him 'bad', even if it's no secret that Simon isn't a strong vocalist (or he would have never needed Garfunkel). He's a terrific songwriter and guitarist, though, and that makes up for his voice. Hell, David Gilmour, Phil Collins, Mark Knopfler, and Bob Dylan aren't the best singers either, though they've certainly done well!

  • People used to give Paul crap for ripping off the cultural music of Africa, but it seems to me he did a lot to expose it to the world. This one track is truly amazing.... Thanks for posting!!

  • I agree. And musicians should always experiment. But this is Brazilian music not African.

    Salve o Olodum!!!

  • Oh, sorry, I should have clarified. Graceland was the African music. This was most certainly Brizilian. If not for the staff at the Olive Garden I worked at converting my Spanish to 'Portugese' I never would have known... "Muito Bom!!!"

  • @AeroDany The name is African Brazilian....the city of Salvador in Brazil holds the most Africans from Brazil...people happy and proud....they keep strong roots to their African culture!

  • Comment removed

  • @AeroDany Brasilian music is African jsut like America Blues and Jazz

  • @USExceptionalism Right you are.

  • So good classic !!!!!!!

  • haha like it

  • Classic!
