@Sarandib22 I think the main cause of all the chakotay hate was him dating 7 in endgame, despite hating her up to that point and even advising Janeway to space 7, his "angry warrior" stories which were thinly-veiled attempts to get laid with Janeway and him just generally being an extremely annoying little fuckwit. His actual intellect doesn't really come into it aside from his insistance that he is a trained shuttle pilot.

@randomface54 OMG, u can't hate on Chak for dating 7. It's not like the character has free will. That was a total back-asswards, jump-the-shark move by B&B. If Jeri Taylor had been allowed to continue developing the characters along the histories she'd written for them, NONE of that would have happened. The reason Chak pined after Janeway for 4 years was because Taylor and B&B were fighting behind scenes. Taylor wanted post-gender-role characters, the boy's club wanted explosions and boobs.

Personally, I found his character to be annoying but I accept that it wasn't Robert Beltran himself writing the lines.
