this is cirrus cloud with a faint circumhorizontal arc. saw one from my home just the other day, pretty amazing sight to behold, especially when youre only 0.32 degrees south of where they become impossible to form! a circumhorizontal arc occurs when the sun is high and slightly hazed by a veil of cloud and its rays pass through high-altitude cirrus clouds which contain ice crystals. these crystals then perform as prisms, making an aerial spectrum, much like a non-grounded rainbow

Rainbows are just the moisture in the air refracting the light into the different frequencies of the light spectrum like a prism does. The rainbow would go all the way across the sky but there isn't enough moisture in that part of the sky away froim the wispy cirrostratus clouds which are high up in the jet stream and my be full of ice crystals.

I recently saw a LOT of info on these rainbow+clouds formations online. Check out kinds of rainbows. It is rare, but not creepy nor something from HAARP or some government thing. A circumhorizontal arc is an optical phenomenon, an ice-halo formed by plate shaped ice crystals in high level cirrus clouds.

A good majority of atmospheric phenomenon actually occur in cirrus clouds.

These are sundogs. Though not rainbows, they are created virtually the same way. The sun has to hit the ice crystals at precisely 55 degrees, and these are fairly common amongst high-level clouds. Believe it or not, rainbows themselves are fairly rare, but sundogs are not. Sorry to brake it to you...nice footage, though! And I have never seen any sundog this beautiful! It may be a circumhorizon or curcumzenithal arc, which are very rare.

It's not hard to believe. Water droplets in clouds can reflect sunlight and if viewed at the appropriate angle, it will create a prismatic effect. It's a beautiful thing to see, but is in no way strange.

Wow, that was weird. Having some strange things happen in our neighborhood. First time I saw a "cloud" like that, was last August (over London) - perfectly clear blue sky - 'cept for this small rainbow cloud. I took several photos of it - as it moved across the sky southward - but unlike real clouds - it's shape never changed at all.

ALVIN,TX 30 miles near HOUSTON, TX prior to this strange cloud, on the same spot the night before I saw a triangular shaped object with multiple lights that did not flash or strobe. Just steady lights all around the object. The lights made it very visible. It was traveling towards HOUSTON,TX. It made no noise and it was flying at the same height a helicopter would. I called CH 11 NEWS and The HOUSTON CHRONICLE just in case someone else might have seen it.
