Don't get me wrong, fat old blokes digging in the mire is good to see, saves the NHS paying for them to have obesity treatment. But getting their daughter to dig underneath a cliff of crap is just weird; just loved the way the camera man zoomed in on the tide of muck hanging above her head as she dug (just after a mini landslide!!!). Are any of these people alive today???
I never knew people did this bottle digging until now. it looks like fun, i remember as a kid, living in Halsall, West Lancs, i always found bottles like this down Halsall Moss, in the fields, and ditchies.
the cods got sick on:o) acid from the earth, you cant ever get rid of that, used to love digging for bottles as a teenager, dug many a tip in the 1990s in greater manchester
Thats a briiliant lot of codds & gingers, fellas & young lady. Wish we could dig a quarter of that here in Australia.Keep it up & dont forget the forkn spade...
Thats what i call a brilliant dig fellas (and young lady). We wish we could produce a quarter of the codds & ginger beers you fellas dug there.Best wishs from the Aussie bottle diggers...
Good dig guys. Keep up the good work. I've noticed already that you've drawn the attention of the stereotypical tree-hugging neo-conservationist, and the loud mouth "expert" diggers (Is there such a thing?) who like to bitch and moan regarding your methods. Everyone knows you can't do very much on Youtube without attracting this kind of attention, so it was expected.
¿Pero no veis que el agujero estaba lleno de fragmentos de cerámica? Fijaos cuando remueve la tierra en el 0:42 y en el 8:03. Un día que me vaya de viaje me pasaré por ahí.....
Whereabouts is this.....my friends used to dig on Carrington moss and have wonderful collection of Matchstrikers, ashtrays and bottles...they say you should look out for elderberry trees a they are a good sign of victorian tip.
I have an old pop bottle from Hulme and a test tube, also a light bulb from 1930s.
this should be flagged as a how not to do things video, most of the stuff probably only got broken with your careless destruction of the place, you my freind are an idiot of the highest order if you think your doing the right thing!
Only 24 years old...I was digging before you were even a glimmer in your dads eye..How many years digging have you under your belt ?...1 MAYBE 2 !....Don't try a tell me how to suck eggs boy.
WOW i am in awe of you because of your age, you obviously know everything.
many other people have mentioned on this how destructive your methods are and if i was to show this to other digger friends who have as much, if not more experience than you, they'd say the same as me, your an idiot old man, time to give up and let the young boy's like myself do it properly.
Only dug the site in one area....The loose 'dirt' is mainly soft coal ash and goes down approx 6 feet from the top of the dump then it becomes harder more compact layers of ash.
people didnt dispose of trash as we do today..most of it was bottles and broken pottery. nothing was disposable then. the stuff is still circulating today.
Certainly! When I'm down in the dumps, I dig very slowly and look closely at everything. You can find (and I have found) coins, jewelry, tokens, keys and locks, guns, toys, watches and fobs, buckles, buttons--all kinds of neat old things in old dumps and privies! Not just bottles in there! I was getting freaked out watching the quick careless digging in this video. :-/
Nice video lads but bloody hard work, there usd to be a huge tip in Coventry that I worked in the 70s, tons and tons of great stuff was taken out of that but there are no such places now I bet?
anyone no how much a Keystones "long Tom" mutant extra long codd is going for????.....i just got a warners strap sided compound given to me!!!!.....jammy eh!!!!
Its superb, you found more on this dig than I have in a year of digging. I didn't think there were any tips as good as this left, luck you from a sad chap in the South. Thanx for posting it.

Should NOT be digging in there without propping the sides of that hole up, would NEVER put my children in that situation.

This video makes me nervous, that's quite the overhanging ridge you got there. You really got some fine goodies though.

@rachaelwebster2009 It could be described as proof of Darwinian theory if she manages to undermine that 30 foot cliff face.
