  • The 1 dislike was by his car :P

  • la verdad que era un piloto que daba espectáculo

  • I wish we could have seen the rest of the stage. narrow but a very quick stage, it would be great to watch the whole stage.

  • Todays rally drive follow where the road go, but for colin it was the road follow'd how he drove.

  • Just watch the steering input....so EASY! Nikki Lauda once called Walter Rhorl " genius on wheels"... but just watch "GOD"!

  • Wow! alnerry is right, no one drives like that any more! Colin was an artist! He'd be lined up perfectly for the apex before he even got to the corner!! Incredible. His style was so fast and on the edge of the limit, but at the same time was so smooth and controlled.

I doubt we will ever see another with this talent. The one and only Colin McRae... RIP you'll always be missed

  • el zumbido que escuchas es el ruido de la caja de velocidades. Saludos

  • see Colin and see others from the argentinta rally it will seem to u like the others go very slow. He was driving to the limits of getting off road what a driver RIP

  • @toob20

    El diferencial

  • Sometimes I look at how he steers when approching a corner and it looks so random to me but when hes gone trough the corner it all make sense.

  • The guy is on the limit everywhere, thats why he was so loved. Most spectcular driver of all time! Colin Mcrae-"Everybody loves to see someone trying their hardest."

  • Simply brilliant!

  • perfection!!! im racing in rally ithica this weekend and if i could do 1/10 as good as this id be happy...simply the best!!

    RIP Colin

  • if I wanted to become a rally driver in the wrc or otherwise, as the rally of Brazil, how does it make? what it takes? I need a car or the car is the team ... ?

    thanks.

  • No comparison possible with any new car's onboard !

every corner is a fight !

Out of limit every where, every time, he's the master !

    Best onboards are McRae's...

...Best driver is McRae... ... for all times

  • It shows how much skill you need as a rally driver. I mean the course is hard enough as it is and ther are even harder ones out there. But look at how much Colin has to do, he has to do every turn perfectly while fighting oversteer and understeer and because rally cars didnt have flappy paddle gearboxes then it was even harder (as he had only one hand to control the car alot of the time), as well as flick and push switches and buttons while going along for the windscreen wipers etc.

  • they do have the paddle and the lever as well

  • actually you can see that stick goes right to the column so he uses that instead of the paddle but it works the same, maybe he likes the feel of the lever but its the same. Some had a big ring around the back of the steering wheel to grab instead of paddles too

  • I suppose we have all missed sideways and spectacular footages of old times. This is not just the magic of MCrae. I think the sport evolved in the wrong direction. I cant believe how we come to this boring days from such mighty times. Wrc must be the worst governed sport in the world.

  • I agree!

  • @alnerry Thats so right!

  • @alnerry FIA govern it and also F1 is in the wrong direction and so are most motorsport that comes from europe. Really a shame.

  • How can a human being go so fast!!!, Colin you was a machine, we never forget you, you STILL ARE #1, RIP

  • i remember this well, as colin dominated this rally from start to finish!!, this event was his luck returning, as he won it, then greece, then cyprus!, it was 3 in a row wins, he actually had over a 40 second lead !! in only the first few stages!!, richard burns took the fight to mcrae & finished 2nd,, also the 2001 season was one of the best ,

  • Amazing.. Simply the best!!

  • World Champion for ever!

  • cheers again WRC for posting this, R.I.P mr mcrae!!,

  • Wow @ 8:26 - 8:30

Nice skills with his right shifting hand ^_^

    RIP

  • In every single corner you thing that he is off the road, but not Colin!!!

Such a great loss for all the rally fans...

  • can this man drive.from what ive seen Argentina is quite the rally

  • Awesome driving. RIP.

  • What a risk at 8.43 O_o bad placed spectators...

    McRae ruled !

  • R.I.P.

  • My god, if I only had the chance... Or the cash. Especially one of Mad Mac's.

  • Would you buy a used car from a rally driver???

    :D

  • The wipers while steering would be quite the challenge, not to mention everything else he was capable of doing.. that just sort of struck me as something that'd be an unnatural feeling...

  • The wipers are activated by the co-driver as he knows when the water is coming via the notes. The foot rest in the cockpit has a button he activates with his foot to turn the wipers on and off. Therefore the driver can concentrate on the driving of the car. Our WRC cars are pretty high tech eh!

  • They also activate some engine protection against water...I remember Toni gardemeister having problems with it when his codriver forget to do it when they were in a Skoda

  • colin turned on the wipers himself in this video

  • Buenisimo, lindo video, lástima que se escucha muy bajo a Nicky Grist.

Colin manejando de costado, como siempre. Un placer

  • Love the Classic On Boards!

  • best rally driver ever !

  • I've already said this, but I can't help repeating it: this was such a fantastic era for rallying, so many great factors contributing to making it such a memorable, absolutely legendary time. There was a bunch of great drivers, all with their own personalities, but all of them interesting people, driving with flair; the rallies were classics, every one of them; (...)

  • (...) and then the cars -- those cars let the driver show so much skill, not like the later machines, which are faster, but that's mainly through finding every bit of straight-line traction and making the car handle in a rather dull way, on comparison. We can only be grateful that those great circumstances coincided, which made it possible for the genious of Colin and the true brilliance of such fames as Sainz, Makkinen, Auriol, Delecour, and many others, come through and shine.

  • Again, gorgeous car control presented by Colin here. And it's all too easy to forget what a superb event the Argentina is, and that it doubtlessly deserves to be called a classic. The stages have absolutely everything to test the driver.

I was struck by the low traction of that seemingly hard-packed surface.

  • You are very right. The era where we had 3 cars for most teams, Auriol, Burns, Gronholm, Makinen, Kankkunen, Sainz, Martin, Rovanpera, Panizzi and Delecour was magic!

Never forget those times. Rallying has evolved a lot since then and it may be a long time before we have the privilege to be entertained like we were through those years...

  • i agee rallyin jst useless with loeb winning da hole time

  • right ! he's great but C'MON ! We need more manufacturers, more competition !

More Colin Mcrae against Loeb ! =)

  • cant belive that sainz was the no1 driver for ford 2001-02

    RIP McRae

  • It's Awesome. Always Flat-Out, very calm, never brake before jumps, strong in many esses...

What a Driver he was. Colin, we miss you all. You already have a place in my Motorsport Hall of Fame. Rest in Peace.

  • Colin is really putting that Focus through its paces, near maniacal driving, hard not to clip the path edges too. Really fun to watch!

  • These are awesome vids. I wish Bernie would do the same with F1 and allow those videos to be played on youtube

  • Rally Legend

    R.I.P

  • Do you have any videos of Colin McRae driving in the Monte Carlo Rally? Any videos would be appreciated.

  • Insane driving

  • operating the windshield wipers, shifting and driving

  • If only rally was slightly more affordable.

  • Intense!

  • Love this onboards. Thanx a lot WRC!!!

  • can anyone explain to me the need for the other guy - can't the driver see where he's going

  • He gives the driver information about dangerous places and corners, watch the video "The worst rally corner ever" to see the results of no pacenotes.

  • he is the co driver giving him pacenotes look at other vids you can actually hear them. he tells them were to go how fast the description of the road etc.

  • if you want to go fast, around these place, with tight corners, you have to have a co-driver

  • He describes the corners, as everyone else already said, but I'll give an example. It's very hard to tell exactly how sharp a corner is going to be, if there's rocks or bumps, what the correct line is going to be etc.

So "4 left tightens 3 don't cut" would mean there is a left turn that you can take in 4th gear, but it very quickly turns into a sharper turn and you ll have to slow down and take it in 3rd gear. "Don't cut" implies that there is a rock or trees on the inside of the turn, and if

  • the driver cuts the corner too tightly he would run into said rock or bump, and could ruin the car.

When you're going 85km/h around a tight dirt track, these are all very important things to know. Just looking at the above described corner, the driver might think it was just a left 4, and would hit the apex and start accelerating(right into a tree). Since he knows it's a 4 tightens 3 however, he knows to slow down through the 4 and hit a late apex (at the 3) in order to accelerate out.

  • Sorry if that didn't make sense, my description was severely limited by the 500 characters allowed in comments. Hope it helped you understand though.

  • FANTASTIC

    RALLY ARGENTINA THE BEST!!!!!

    q Grande COLIIINNN

  • Great video .... really flatout on the final part o the video ... awesome! :)))

  • better than a roller coaster

  • He cant go Straight!!!!

  • Nooo. Why did it have to end on that?

  • thats not from 2009!! very good video

  • No shit Sherlock. How could this video come from 2009 if he died in 2007?

    Anyway, awesome stage, awesome vid.

  • i wish it was mcrae in 2009!!!!,
