Thanks it worked perfectly, those of you who can't get it into DFU mode must be doing something wrong in your technique, its simple, hold power for 3 seconds, then whilst still holding the power hold the home button for 10 seconds, then release the power button but keep holding the home button.
@darkshad109 Look man, we aren't idiots. We can follow directions just like the rest of you dipshits. Maybe there was something in a update that we did that is keeping the phone from going into DFU mode. I have the same exact problem, and tried it maybe 50 times using different techniques myself.
@jaslap My friend was jailbreaking his iPod yesterday, he was there for about 10 minutes trying to get the DFU mode going, i came into the room and done it first try, and he's a pretty smart guy just wasn't doing it right, it's a simple mistake. Sorry if you feel i insulted your intelligence.
@darkshad109 Nah, You didn't insult me but you certainly didn't help me either. I think one thing you might not know is that I have had many jbs using DFU mode already on this 3G iPhone. Once I updated the software to 4.1 on particular phone I could no longer get it into DFU mode to do the latest jb. Also I used jailbreak with DFU on my new iPhone4. Any other help besides you got you're friends phone to do it?

@arjunvai Jailbreaking just allows more freedom with software on the phone, if you want to use any sim card you will have to unlock the phone, last time i checked there were no unlocking methods for firmware 4.1, but i havn't checked in a while so you should google around for a bit and see what you can find.

please help! i bought an unlocked 3G iphone (not the most tech savvy here) and i didn't know that i should NOT update (until after watching your videos) - so i plugged it in and hit the update button...now the phone shows the iTunes logo with the power cord and the "slide for emergency" call. i tried the trick with hitting the 4 # signs and then call/lock but that does not work. what do i do now??? i live in costa rica so i do not have access to an AT&T sim card. am i totally messed up now?

You mean that if I rely on unlocking for iphone 3g (for other networks) I should stay away from just the 4.1 update on iTunes, or also your custom firmware 4.1?

emac you have a custom firmware with 4.1 and an unlockable baseband? what baseband is in your custom firmware? i have windows 7 and an iphone 3g, im inching to upgrade to 4.1 i like the multitasking and just the new os. 3.1.3 isnt so great now

@SuperGustav007 Redsn0w for Windows is still being tested. It might take some time. Before that gets released, "greenpois0n" will be out that will support Jailbreak on all devices.
well basically it was at 4.1 i restored the whole thing to a 3.1.3 and i already got cydia on it its jailbroken i downloaded fuzzyboard it said it wont work (05.09) all i gotta do is unlock idk wat to do
@picijoker1 If u are on 3.1.3 then use redsnow 0.9.5 to jailbreak your iPhone first. Once u have cydia on it then unlock by installing "Ultrasn0w" from cydia. That's all u have to do. Details are on my 3.1.3 jailbreak video. But as mentioned if you upgraded once to 4.1 then downgraded to 3.1.3 then u cannot unlock till a new unlock is discovered.

@picijoker1 Sorry friend. It only takes once to upgrade. If done accidently you cannot unlock. You can only jailbreak now and wait for a new unlock to arrive.

So the custom firmware you made is unlockable!? But I can't restore even contacts n messages? Haha that's awesome it's unlockable, I depend on that and untethered
@lokster0986 Custom firmware is only for windows users not for Mac. That custom firmware has cydia already in it. After uploading it u need to download and install ultrasnow from cydia. And it will unlock your iPhone on 4.1. Pls note that after using custom firmware u will not be able to restore your backup like contacts, photos, mail. Details are mentioned in the written description. Also Custom firmware is useless if u are already on 4.1 firmware. You can't use it.

@lokster0986 Don't do it. Reason being for 5.08 bootloader iphone holders, Fuzzyband has NOT been updated and is not compatible with 4.1 firmware. So after updating to 4.1 firmware you will NOT be able to downgrade your baseband using fuzzyband yet. But the developer of Fuzzyband is working on it. Hopefully if will be compatible soon.

@MrShricky1071 You cannot keep all settings as it is if you wan to update. Whenever any device is updated then if you wish to update you will have to re-jailbreak again. But you can backup your apps that you downloaded from Cydia . Download "pkagebackup" that will backup your apps in Cydia . After updating to 4.1 you will jailbreak and then install "packagebackup" again . It will bring back all apps that you had in Cydia before.

@NetBaseB2B YOu cannot access email or Safari Browser if you don't have an internet Data Plan or Wifi. Obviously on WiFi there will be no charges, but if you have a data plan then you will be charged according to your data network programmed prices.

@lad2y If you are already on 4.1 firmware then you have to downgrade back to 4.0.2 and then use snowbreeze. If u re already on 4.1 then snowBreeze cannot help.

oh my God. I stupidly wanted to restore it's previous version. it restored the whole thing. i lost my everything. it is not only the simcard which is locked but also all my data is lost now. Someone Please help!!!

I mistakenly upgraded to 4.1 and now it is locked saying INVALID SIM.
I had no idea that it would happen otherwise I would have never done it.
so, since I did it already, is there any way to unlock it or downgrade it back to whatever you recommend. PLEASE HELP!!!

BIG TROUBLE EMAC!!! I updated my iphone 3G to iOS 4.1 through itunes, I then followed all instructions throughout this video. Everything went smooth, but then I installed ultra snow, rebooted and attempted putting in my SIM card and the phone gets extremely slow and consistently says searching even after multiple reboots!!! I tried uninstalling ultrasnow and putting in the SIM and it did the same thing!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!! I AM USING A T-MOBILE SIM

emac you have a custom firmware with 4.1 and an unlockable baseband? what baseband is in your custom firmware? i have windows 7 and an iphone 3g, im inching to upgrade to 4.1 i like the multitasking and just the new os. 3.1.3 isnt so great now

i had a problem with my iphone, i was puting music on it and my computer shut down for some weird reason, and what happened was that it messed up the signal thing, i couldnt get any signal, so i had to get it restored and when i did that it automaticaly updated to 4.1, and now its locked, what can i do

well basically it was at 4.1 i restored the whole thing to a 3.1.3 and i already got cydia on it its jailbroken i downloaded fuzzyboard it said it wont work (05.09) all i gotta do is unlock idk wat to do

@picijoker1 If u are on 3.1.3 then use redsnow 0.9.5 to jailbreak your iPhone first. Once u have cydia on it then unlock by installing "Ultrasn0w" from cydia. That's all u have to do. Details are on my 3.1.3 jailbreak video. But as mentioned if you upgraded once to 4.1 then downgraded to 3.1.3 then u cannot unlock till a new unlock is discovered.

@picijoker1 Sorry friend. It only takes once to upgrade. If done accidently you cannot unlock. You can only jailbreak now and wait for a new unlock to arrive.

@lokster0986 Custom firmware is only for windows users not for Mac. That custom firmware has cydia already in it. After uploading it u need to download and install ultrasnow from cydia. And it will unlock your iPhone on 4.1. Pls note that after using custom firmware u will not be able to restore your backup like contacts, photos, mail. Details are mentioned in the written description. Also Custom firmware is useless if u are already on 4.1 firmware. You can't use it.

can i update to 4.1 and jailbreak and use fuzzyband to downgrade the baseband and use ultrasnow to unlock??? can you try and confirm? lol i only have one phone to lose :(

@lokster0986 Don't do it. Reason being for 5.08 bootloader iphone holders, Fuzzyband has NOT been updated and is not compatible with 4.1 firmware. So after updating to 4.1 firmware you will NOT be able to downgrade your baseband using fuzzyband yet. But the developer of Fuzzyband is working on it. Hopefully if will be compatible soon.

Q: i currently am running on the firmware 3.1.2 and i jailbroke with blackra1n. If i update my firmware to 4.1 will it break the jailbreak ? If so what can i do to update to 4.1 and keep all my current jailbreak settings on my ipod ?

@MrShricky1071 You cannot keep all settings as it is if you wan to update. Whenever any device is updated then if you wish to update you will have to re-jailbreak again. But you can backup your apps that you downloaded from Cydia . Download "pkagebackup" that will backup your apps in Cydia . After updating to 4.1 you will jailbreak and then install "packagebackup" again . It will bring back all apps that you had in Cydia before.

@NetBaseB2B YOu cannot access email or Safari Browser if you don't have an internet Data Plan or Wifi. Obviously on WiFi there will be no charges, but if you have a data plan then you will be charged according to your data network programmed prices.

I don't have access to previous SHSH Blobs to downgrade FW.

@lad2y If you are already on 4.1 firmware then you have to downgrade back to 4.0.2 and then use snowbreeze. If u re already on 4.1 then snowBreeze cannot help.
