im in 8th grade and im taking a 10th grade ELA and Alegebra 1 and my teachers say i should know stuff that was never taught to me i quickly learn but the problem is one wont let me switch seats and i have asked she said my reason was irrelavent and that i must stay where i am any tips P.S i sit in the back

I did shorthand in college, but didnt keep it up so I can write pretty fast. Current students might find a good exercise before beginning your courses is to watch show on tv and take notes on it like you would a lecture. This prepares you for speedy speech and preciseing as you go.

For tip #5 I can disagree upon. What happens if you can't comprehend and the professor is lecturing at 100mph (they won't slow down)? Comprehending some things may take longer than a few seconds. I suggest writing notes down and looking it over a couple of times after the lecture. Usually, I'd get a good feel of what my professor was saying. Because if you don't comprehend in time, you will miss valuable notes. And then you're left with nada.

I teach a freshman seminar course at a small, private university. I came to youtube to look for a video that could present a very boring subject (note taking) in a brief and entertaining manner. Good presentation and outline. Can you give an example on Tip 3: Put Ideas in Your Own Words. I am one of those people who find notetaking very very stressful. I find myself actually trying to write down everything that the professors were saying.

Thank you so much, sir. I'm sure that these tips will work for me. It's my 2nd year in college, so I generally know what's going on around my education. I sometimes take notes from lectures, but all the time, and I really don't like doing it because I'm not good at it. I do take notes from my textbooks and from the board sometimes. It can be helpful to take your own notes; it depends how good of a student you are.
