CLASSIC SOCIAL D!!! I used to go see these guys at the Tabernacle in Atlanta every time they came through. If you wanna see some early, bare bones Social D. go get "Another State of Mind" and see Mike Ness at the tender age of 20 touring accross the country in a broken down school bus with the Youth Brigade. Minor Threat is also featured in that film and it's pretty awesome.
up yours lobopro!!! These guys started punk rock!! Most of the ones you listen to are probably those sell out bands that pretend to be punks to look good!!!
Back in the day, punk didn't SOUND much BETTER at all. That was punk, it wasn't played to make you hum along, it was played to make you think, and spit. Lou Reed and John Lydon were known for getting audience's practically riotous. Sound quality was often secondary. Go back and learn your history.
Fuckin anthem...especially bein from NM, it's the only place anyone has to look foreward to, whether ur a dude, a chick, white, black, mexican...we're ALL prison bound.
mike ness has said many times he's gotten lucky with the law and avoided prison. hell...he's lucky he's not dead too...it took him at least two years to rehab from substance abuse. thank god or else we wouldn't have this ass kickin tune
People are retarded, This song isn't just about going to jail, and It's definately not a "Story of where Mike's been" it's just a statement about life and how you can't escape you past
If you listen to some older concerts Ness tells how he was going to jail and the judge told him he was no damn good but gave him one last chance, then he goes into prison bound before he says thank you judge
so what? glenn danzig never decapitated a little girl and stuck her head on his wall, but "skulls" still sounds great. this is music, not a court statement.
nice vid and thanks, wasnt many they were jamming for, curious on what the circumstances were on that performance, i sure would of like to been there though, ness rules
Social D's Stripped-Down and Gritty Music, Soul-Bareing Honesty and their ability to evolve without having to reinvent themselves or conform to pop-music trends for decades at a time...Earns them the same respect in my book as I give The Clash and Johnny Cash.
This is from KDOC's Request Video show. 1988 or 1989, I am not sure. They also played Bo Diddley's Pretty Thing on that in studio taping. The cool thing about this band is that they never sold out and went metal like many of their contemporaries ( see adz, ch3, tsol, GBH, etc..) Those guys ruined punk in the late eighties. Anyways Social D was always cooler than thou.
rip denny, love ya mike kick some...

Yah, the audience does look kind of bored. If I were there, I'd be dancing madly and flinging my undies on stage. Great song ... great band.
