  • being trans myself ....I can relate to your pain...people ARE horrible..ignorant...intolerant and a holes a lot of times.....being trans is a life and death issue....it sucks but it's great at the same time all in one...heaven and hell at the same time

  • You're hired

  • Hey sweetie !!! You're such a beautiful person ! It hurts my heart to think of someone like you having such trouble in your life !!!

I work in the O.R. of a hospital as an attendent , and if you only could apply here for a job !!! They are very supportive of all people ! Straight, gay , tranny , everyone is treated the same !!!

I truly wish I could reach out , touch your shoulder and make it all better !!!! XXXXX

Just remember , each time you reach out , someone may reach back ! XXXXX

  • Retail Queen I am-was! I had no fun, cause my boss made me work the worst hours. So no fun spending that paycheck every payday! I was glad to get paid though! Money talks!!! I wish I had some nowfrown.

However, I LOVED that I had a true Gal-Pal who understood me!

  • wtf mate

  • I will say that I have zero problem putting M on applications. Not only do I not consider it NOT a lie, it makes paperwork and interviewing easier.

Unless it's a job where you didn't use the new name at all AND you are listing a reference from that job in the references section I wouldn't bother. What they're looking for is discrepancies with married/maiden names or someone who has had numerous names (which is a paperwork nightmare if they don't disclose).

  • F**k the boxes, you a girl sweetie X

  • frig them. Put what you are. Female. Doesn't the USA have labor laws against discrimination?

  • As for applications, check off whatever it says on your drivers or state identification since they are going to photocopy it for your employment records.

  • aire you have such a gentle heart and a sweet spirit, i wish you all the happiness you seek.

i understand your frustration because i'm going thru these things also. i wanted to let you know that your videos are a great help to me. hang in there girl you'll find what your searching for.

  • You are not alone, people are listening and there are people that care. I could feel the emotion in your voice, and the sincerity, and your frustration. Do you have a trusted circle of friends that you can talk to about how you are feeling? What would you like to do? If money was not an issue, what would YOU want to do? Don't give up. ~PLUR~

  • Alot of people says that some people have to many time on hand but its ok to do things to enjoy yourself to keep ur mind of the weariness and stressful things we have to go through in this life. It'll makeit better for ou when you do have to face the reality or whatever you can call it in life.

  • Retail stinks no matter who you are. I worked reatail for 12 years (it did have its good moments tho). Are you happier at the nursing home? if so maybe that is what you should do. All that matters is not what's on the paper but how you interact with the people. I understand about the M and F on forms. they taught me, to look one way and want to circle the other. Anyway, hang in there I think everything gets better eventually. hugs and smiles to get you through the darkness. :)

  • Why do you do some that you don't have to put your gender down like me I'm got into the arts what make you happy.

  • we need to teach poeple about us that is why poeple think that they can bet us down./

  • Retail- people (customers and coworkers; more often customers) can be assholes. You develop an immunity of sorts to this over time.

Applications- check female. If anyone questions this later on, deal with it then and there. Past names, I've always answered no. Have you legally changed your name? I'm still catching up on your older videos. :-)

    Hang in there, girl.

  • I'd choose to bend the questions in applications a bit and answer what would describe me best as a person, since that would be the most relevant, and not start answering questions about my genitalia. I would answer "female" to both sex and gender, my "bits" are no concern to any employer.

  • I think its like: back in the 1900s it was an AMAZING feat for one to go to college and get a degree and so on, so if you just had a HS Diploma even, getting a job wasn't tough, cause you were seen as smart still.. Now its like... You haven't accomplished anything till u get ur masters degree... atleast in employers eyes. Of course it also depends on what your trying to make ur career, but for the most part this work-society is driven by college students and ppl with 5-10yrs minimum experience.

  • I work in retail kinda I guess, customer service whatever, I dunno if the rude people are so bad, just gotta have a "whatever" attitude towards them. Anyways; About the box and the name change, can't you just leave them blank.. I don't see why your forced to answer them... If your applying for an Equal Opportunity Employer I thought it was illegal to even demand those things from you; as long as the recent data lines up... however I think its hard to find jobs for everyone

  • you answer honestly, you are female.

the problem i'm facing are the refrences. I hate how all my employeers know me one way and only that way. But then, if you get that other job you finally get erase that alter ego, forever. But things like this feels like forever too and that is where the frustration comes in.

I feel for you. Looking for jobs suck. I'm in the same boat.

    Hayley

  • Jobs are frustrating, I just let my supervisor know that I am in transition, it has been good just a lot of questions which I don't know how to answer. I am right with you on the frustration

  • Thanks for sharing. Though I haven't reached that point yet I can imagine what I'll have to deal with. Such strong implications from such a tiny box. I never even considered having to list a previous name. I thought you could completely conceal your previous self on an application. My thoughts and heart are with you. I know you'll get there.

  • Life would be so much easier if there was a neutral box which you could use, at least temporarily.

What about turning the tables on them?

Check out the places you want to work for and then send them an open application with a form for THEM to fill in, complete with a few irritating questions....

Just a thought to get even on them.

  • It is a really Hard thing to mark the Genderbox. We are Female and look Female from the Outside as well but are still officially a Man on Paper, it really sucks having to check that GenderBox.......

  • I HATE that male/female check-box that seems to be on EVERYTHING. Always hurts a bit to fill it out.

I hope you feel better soon Aire xxoo

  • Me too! I mean it's such an EXTREME thing!

Seems like they would NOT be allowed to inquire, I mean most people cannot inquire about race so why should gender be any different.

  • Hey, girl. I'm sorry you are so frustrated right now. To chime in with the comment before me, I would think that those places would rather have someone with good skills who doesn't fit the "norm" then someone who does fit the "norm" whose skills aren't very good. You got your license for a reason: you have what they need and you know what you're doing.

  • There are SO many people who work in nursing homes and other kinds of treatment settings who should NOT be working there. You hear such aweful stuff about patiants being mistreated or abused. That's why people are so afraid to put their family members there.

  • I think nursing homes would be so blessed to have you on staff. Yes, you have the skills, but you are also gentle, kind and understanding. You have such a good heart. When my grandma was in a nursing home before she passed, she had her favorite staff. I'm sure you'll be someone's favorite person there too...they'll be like, "When's Arie coming in? Is she here today?" OK, I'm done now, LOL.

    -Annie

  • It will get better. D.O.N.'s normally don't care about sex or gender when hiring new people. As you already know nursing homes tend to have a wide variety of people employed.
