  • Genius! Great, but it is strange that there are actually two versions on your Windows XP Home PC.

  • gpedit.msc doest working!!!

  • thx so much!

  • How can this be UNdone? Can I just delete the Controlset003 folder? Iv left it too long and cant restore back to the original registery...

I was trying to get remote desktop, but it doesnt allow updates when this is done...

  • @dratsab1980 just do a System Restore, or if you backed up your registry, double click the back-up file and restart your computer.

  • @dratsab - I know this is a 6 month old post, but to do this I went into one of the old control sets and exported the product key to my desktop, opened it with notepad, changed the control set number to the one matching the most recent one that was created, double clicked it, checked to see if it changed it (it did), then restarted, clicking f8 as before, and chose last good configuration. All is back to normal now.

  • yes, i made it. now I can see as " windows XP professional" but my Question is, shall I have that all option from XP professional? bcse, i couldnt see any changes except that name change.

  • @kragle2008 Well, you see. I actually bought my copy of xp and vista and windows 7, so all my computers are legal, also with my student discount I get Microsoft office for about $40, now granted I haven't bought a new copy of office in 5 years, I still have office 2007, which was made in 2006.

  • @Zestypanda never mind.......

  • Why do people keeping looking for a way to convert XP Media Center to Pro

Media Center is built on Pro

    anything Pro is already there

    including the full Remote Desktop

    Domain login

    ect. ect.

  • @JLClayton82 thanks for clearly stating the relationship between Pro and MC ... I'll bet there's a vid on here showing how to remove the Media Center Features somewhere

minor point: "ect." should be "etc." (et cetera -"and the rest")

  • Very cool! Should IU subcribe, too?? Hm... Yes I will make it :D

  • one more thing i subcribed

  • Hey I need help, I want to Upgrade my PC to the highest update and latest for free, but a Safe way.

Like can you Help me, Update my Windows XP Computer to the latest and best update.

But the reason is I want to be able to play a Game Called Fallout 3 for Windows XP, can you find me a free way and safe way to do this?

Thanks for the help, im a big fan, and watch all your videos, i subbed.

  • You rock!! it work for me ( uprade from home to pro)

  • Once the XP Home is upgraded to XP Pro, will it have ALL the features of the XP Pro. Reason I asked, I did what you said, it converted it successfully as shown in the System Properties. But when I compared the screen of Help and Support, The XP Home, now XP Pro, didn't change and still looked the same when it was Home. I have a legal key of Pro. I have a program that would only work on Pro and I don't want to do Clean Install. I would appreciate your comment on this. Thanks.

  • 7:36 but can be shortened to maybe 1 min. Almost killed myself to finish whole video. Why I finished it anyway? cause as time goes by, I had to try even harder to find something that can comfort me from being stupid enough to waste my time on this video. Do not make a mistake like me. You've warned.

  • it does not work !!

Windows already filled that leak !!

  • R-E-G-E-D-I-T! :D

  • i have a question. if you upgrade xp home to xp proffessional, are the files stored in my xp home would be the same in xp pro? please reply

  • @pivotXPpro yes theyll be the same

  • watch?v=je3tsFOQsLY this keygen works great if you need

  • Lies

  • thx vro and we have the same theme :)

  • will this delete any of my files

  • Comment removed

  • some files require windows xp pro or a newer system to install, will this install them?

  • thanks mate

this is the best thing in the world!!!

    10000000000000000%

  • torrent is your friend.....

  • The Media Centre Version of Windows XP is basically Windows XP Professional!

  • Yes, it works in my case. But it doesn't do what I hoped it would do, namely give you the option to use a windows 7 professional (for instance) upgrade. To upgrade to a professional version you need one in your old version too. i.e. you can't upgrade from XP Home to 7 Prof.

After this succesful 'trick' it still doesn't work. :)

  • i cant use my 2 screens with Windows XP home

  • hey im asked to do this on my xp home it says it wants to update to pro help!

  • sharosaurus, your a dumbass.

  • by doing this will it support dual-processors?

  • doesnt work on xp media center because if you run the tour windows xp program it says "Welcome to Windows XP Professional"

  • Does this delete all your files on your computer???

  • is pro an upgrade from home

  • does this make your computer faster by converting?

  • to wiidsimaster:

It does not reflect in performance, just the brand of Windows XP.

  • does this mean after you do this you can get updates for proffesional?

  • Okay, I got two questions:

1.) If I already have XP Pro and a valid license, but no DVD drive (lol, netbooks), what method could I use to upgrade to XP Pro without reinstalling the operating system or overwriting the data?

2.) Since there is a licensing issue with this method, are there any plans for Microsoft to release a 4th Service Pack for XP?

  • Also, I forgot to mention: the reason I'm asking is I'm trying to install the Russian XP MUI for my netbook and currently can't because it's a nerfed feature in Home. If you know of any easier way to do this, much appreciated.

  • a torrent that isn't pre-activated?

  • is it true that i need windows xp professional to use dvd diskes???? im not sure does dvds work on windows xp home edition???

  • any dvd will work on a computer Operation system that has a optical drive capable of reading DVDs. Most likely, your computer has a CD-drive that can read DVDs, if so , then Windows XP Home/Pro, no matter what version you have, can play DVDs. So yes. they do work on winxp home.

  • i mean like for burning stuff on a dvd because i googled it and it said i need windows xp pro i forgot the website though

  • get CDBurnerXP or pay for software such as NERO.

  • i got nero and power iso as my burning softwar power iso can burn everything to

  • Comment removed

  • @EminemBeastFan24 dvds do work on xp home

  • @dkh1997 yh my computer doesnt have a dvd burner i just noticed that

  • I got Media Center Edition.

  • The good news is...it works!

The bad news is if want to upgrade from one service pack to antoehr, you will encounter error regarding Windows licensing modification. I got this error before and was surprised. It took me while to find the problem.

It took me few hours to fix this problem... I had to reinstall Windows.

    Here's a tip:

Before you upgrade, always undo the changes you made from XP Home to Pro. After you upgraded to SP3, convert XP Home to Pro again. This might not work.

  • i'd try this on virtual pc before I changed anything on a real computer

  • ok,hi buddy, i did everithing, but after last know good config,,, the screens show this,,, please select the operating sys,,, to start and only appears xp home,,, i press enter but appear this windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt \ windows\system32\config\system,,, you can attempt to repair this file by starting windows setup using the original setup cd ????? please help ! thk's

  • yeah. upgrading for media center to professional wouldn't work because media center edition is professional with media features.

  • if i install pro like this would it delete any files or folders? and would it really be xp pro?

  • whats the different

  • The difference is Windows XP Professional is designed for business corporates.

In XP Home, if you go to System Properties and click on the Remote Desktop tab, you only see Remote Assistant.

In Windows XP Professional, you would see Romote Assistant and Remote Desktop...useful if you want to use your current PC on another PC in your house, or use your office PC while at home. It's like you're at that computer when you are actually somewhere else.

Although you will need a consistent connection.

  • i know exactly what to do now, but i'm still debating wheather to do it or not.

  • same man...

I trust this guy, I'm just scared on what might happen to my beautiful laptop.. lol

  • Windows XP Media Center IS Windows XP Pro, just with some more themes\programs.

  • YEa it is MEDIA CENTER

i have MEdia Center and i have done sutfff that coud not

    been done on XP Home

XP MCE is best version of Xp cause

    it was built in 2005

  • XP PRo is media center to be exact

  • hey i have the control 3 on my windows xp home edition u said i should have control 3 should i do this still

  • It worked!! Fare fucken play man! Where do i find the extra stuff??

  • Well, this tweak converted my Windows XP Home to Pro but still I don't see the "Remote" Tab in 'System Properties" and thus can't access my computer remotely. Any tips!!!?

  • Try Srart, all programmes, accessories and it should be there.

  • it worked

  • Thnx, man it worked. Its just the first time I didn't click on LNG.....lol Nice tweak!

  • lol ty xD , it says professional xD

  • but does this tweak make remote desktop connection possible to do now?

  • For some reason i have xp home but with all the stuff that comes with xp pro, should i still do this?

  • if you want to. i got the same thing, and i did it now it actually says Pro.

  • Do you have 2 operating systems running at the same time, or just a crapload of viruses? Your CPU is ideling at 100%! Anyway, I'll try this. If it goes wrong I'll just blam you.l

  • no, camtasia takes a lot of the cpu because i wanted it to be in HD. No viruses on my computer!

  • FYA XP Media Center Edition is XP Pro + Media Center.

  • excellent, it works wow wow .....

  • So it just changes that screen? Not for real? Like the extra stuff.

  • One question.. is my xp home better or the xp professional? Whats the difference? 5/5 ive rated

  • xp pro has better networking and remote control desktop and there are more administrator tools.

  • ty its works! but is it the REAL professional? or fake i mean visuell xD

  • its real, it will automatically update to pro, and please rate 5/5

  • Will it delete all my files?

  • nope

  • i like home better bcause it is more compatible with older files

  • what is the difference between them??

  • xp media center, is what i have. i like it better. i think it works smoother. if u had it, ud know. and media center is also really kool, though i only use itunes :p. but, u can record television on it. it was microsoft's best OS. it has specs. of Vista. but isnt BAD.

  • cool, yeah but it was XP Home, then Media Center, then Professional I think. I'm going to switch to windows 7 when it comes out in August.

  • media center, came out, before professional, media center, is the one i got, right before vista came out, sooo, xp media center, came out, much after pro. cause, i have pro on the other computer

  • how do you record tv with media center?!?

  • Windows XP Media Centre edition is Windows XP professional because if you go to the System Information (found in Start> All Programs> Accessories> System Tools> System Information!) it says Windows XP Professional!

  • hahahah it works cleverrrrr

  • yeah but it costs money.

  • i wish i knew how to do this for vista... xD good video dude, 5/5

  • didnt work..

  • i have controlset004

  • kk use that

  • @sullivanwarehouse i do too
