I have "who wrote the bible" on order, but im disappointed in the way he handles this, education should be about the truth, not about tiptoeing around the truth to avoid hurting someone who is not thinking critically's feelings.
_Who Wrote the Bible_ is still the best thing I've ever read concerning the documentary hypothesis and in my opinion is one of the most important books of the century concerning the bible.
I got the book am gonna read it next what exactly is it like? I love how Robert Price shows where they got the ideas from other cultures does he do that?
No, it's nothing like that at all. He shows how Israel during their civil war, which lasted a few hundred years, probably each had their own versions of the Torah, and that when the two kingdoms merged later on, they also merged their religious writings, and this accounts for many of the incongruities within the Old Testament.
I would like to know what lines he was talking about when Prof. Friedman said "there are lines that we don't cross." With the state this world is in due to the literal reading of the bible, we need to start crossing lines.
I highly respect Prof. Friedman and other bible scholars, such as Prof. Ehrman who are willing to take the heat to tell us the truth and facts about the bible.
I am respectful of his work. Greatly. But at times, he comes off a little PC. Actually, not a little...a good deal. Be truthful and don't mind feelings.
Richard, Thanks for all the work that you have done, and the light you have shed on our many questions. Please keep up the good work. We are counting on you. For me, a clear understanding of how the Bible came to be is the first part of determining what it means to me. This is true with any ancient text, -5737714
