Reading Foucault himself has also been incredibly interesting. Everything he writes is worth reading really, but his three part 'History of Sexuality' is something that will be more than worth your while to read thoroughly.

I don't think you should throw in conservatives on the list you made. A lot of them do take their beliefs too far, but I would have to call myself a conservative if I HAD to choose between con/lib. Well no if people understood the meaning of the freedom of speech it doesnt mean you have the right to voice your opinion at just anyone. Thats why we have verbal harassment laws, and hate crime laws, etc... Freedom of Speech is a right that the people have to tell the Government how they feel without being arrested for it. As in this case no its just a simple abuse of a misunderstood right.

It's funny, whenever I see hateful comments I just look at the person's profile and more often than not see that they spend most their time trolling...
On freedom of speech, I completely agree with you. In a free society, it is paramount. But your youtube channel is like your home. You have every right to delete hateful comments & I hope you do. (I'll miss laughing at their poor grammar though)

With Fame Comes This Consequences such as hate mail. With now holding at 1.3 million views, my videos are all over the place. As a Gay Prime Slut its funny that my main presence is to teach crochet and yarn crafts... I'm me, myself, and I. My partner is showcased in a few where we just laugh and be ourselves... unfortunately, with fame comes this. I've come to accept it, though some comments are extremely ugly... if it's really bad, I delete, most of them I leave for others to see what fools say
I really like the way you deal with haters and intolerance . It's a lot more mature than getting furious (that's probably what I'd do)
I did some thinking about freedom of speech, too, because even though I consider myself quite tolerant, the one thing I can't deal with is intolerance and ignorance (and religious conservatives). Sometimes I think, they just shouldn't have the right to spread their hate and aggression.
I certainly could learn a lesson about maturity and calmness from you.
I'm only human, so I do get angry, but when that happens I try to step back and put it in all perspective. The only hate comments that ever get to me is when they come from someone who is intelligent. There's nothing more depressing than a smart person with a narrow mind.

How funny that a hater suggested a great new gay description/moniker. There is something so calm about you which I really like too. This is kind of a great 'turn the other cheek' example. I probably shouldn't mention cheeks and prime sluts in the same post though.
I like the way you are handling the hates. I always wonder how many creative people have been bullied off of YouTube by haters. Why the haters watch the videos in the first place. If I am not interested in a topic I move on, I guess the YouTube Social Experiment continues :)
It's a shame that people get bullied off. Don't know if you ever watched Derek/Rosewhip's videos, but he deleted everything and no longer posts because someone threatened him. If anything, YouTube teaches you to have a tough skin.

My guess is most of them, while possibly anti-social, never express such sentiments where they can be called out into the glaring light of day. So I find it easy to discount them. I like that the Youtube community is pretty good at censoring true hate by giving them thumbs down. I don't see a good deal of them because of that.
Agreed, freedom of speech is a great thing, and we have to know that the freedom to say what we want, like when I say Perez hilton is a talentless hack that does more damage to our community than fred phelps, also allows people like fred phelps to say the things he does!
Fred Phelps is so over the top that he makes your average homophobe feel embarrassed. When they see someone so transparently insane agreeing with their hateful views, I think it makes them reevaluate their values.
