  • Thank you very much for posting. Excellent footage, excellent song, and excellent performances! BS&T influenced my playing from 1969-1975. A great group!

  • Truely one of the best bands of my gen, or ever for that matter!! BS&T forever!!

  • That tuba player was cookin"!!!

  • David Clayton-Thomas is the bomb!!!!

  • Great idea. Great Montage !

  • Cool piece of video well done, wont say a lot about the music as we all know it is excellent.

Definitely one of the better made videos on youtube, excellent continuation and crossovers of sound and visuals, i hope you continue with similiar works.

    Have a nice day

    Good Job Well done

  • Thanks for posting this!! BST was my deceased fathers favorite band!

Wish he could have lived long enough to see stuff like this on Utube!!

    THANK YOU!!!

  • @CSXer You're welcome. BS&T was my fave band too.

  • @VidBrats This is a great mash-up. With Laura Nyro going into the Hall this year, her songs will be getting more attention. It is bittersweet to hear Laura Nyro, Karen Carpenter, or Mary Travers sing this, as they have all been taken away to early.

  • @CSXer Your father was a good man....with good taste in music. They're my favorite band too...hope my daughter remembers to say the same when I'm gone.

  • By far the best version of one of my favourite songs.

  • He is jammin on that baritone or tuba!!! OOOOOWEEEEeeeee!!!

  • whyd they show canned heat at the beginning?

  • @Gravelgutband I suppose because it was a montage of Woodstock during daylight and BS&T performed at night, which most people would not have recognized as being Woodstock.

  • One of my favorites from back then. 8O) Added to the World United Music Website! Thanks for share a great quality video!

  • Wow, brought back some strong feelings, it has been that long. very nice video. thanks for putting it together.

  • great music for those who like this song and group rock on BST

  • That was a nice montage. Very nicely done!

  • These guys were so frikkin' awesome! I got to meet David a few times, too. I just love the whole jazz-rock fusion thing they created! The are true master studio master studio musicians cum rock stage performers! Long live BST !!!

  • I enjoyed this alot. Thanks for sharing.

  • Saw BS&T in Adelaide 1970.This is a brilliant clip of a wonderful voice, great song and fabulous band.Thank you.

  • I LOVE tuba, but I have to laugh...at 4:48-4:49...it looks like the people are thinking..."what the hell is going on here?" GREAT tuba solo though. And a great video!

  • @OSYBass Is therre any other song you'd say "great tuba solo"? Nope. This song, this group, this precursor to Chicago et al, well it speaks to those of us who heard them when they were just hitting the charts. I will admit the name "Blood, Sweat and Tears" scared me when I was a cild, but the music gave me something I gave to my children. LOVE IT!!!!

  • @OSYBass Well, if you're gonna have a tuba solo, Germany is definitely the place to do it!

  • I LOVE this fuckin SONG!!!!

  • Just let me go -- naturally!

one of the best damn lyrics ever!

  • Thanks. Great editing job. Over 40 years and many lineup changes, but they always play it great. And DCT is always brings is 'A' game when he sings this one. Laura Nyro was one hell of a songwriter; wrote many other great tunes that didn't become too famous, but for me, I'll always think of Laura when I hear this song - even tho' DCT kind of "owns" it because he put his incredible vocals "stamp" on it. BS&T just isn't BS&T without DCT! So I gather from the vid, Jim Fielder once datedLaura Nyro?

  • @Vorrox: Learn your instruments. That's not a tuba (which is a toneless marching band instrument), it's a symphonic brass bass which takes real talent and a lifetime of training to play.

Great posting, A lifetime represented in one song that although written by the great Laura Nyro, started out as a joke in the studio and it just so happened the engineer had the tape running.

  • @glennodagawa Uhhhh..."Symphonic brass bass?" Ha-ha, that's a good one. It sounds good with the other members of the horn line: Tri-valve soprano bugle, multi-keyed brass/woodwind hybrid, and chromatic sliding tenor horn.

  • Nice Video ! thanks for sharing !

  • Maybe not my favorite song, but right up there.Fantastic voice fm David Clayton Thomas, always great musicians. I have never heard a tuba solo like this one. I was lucky to see D.C T. and BS&T in Berlin in 79 or 80, (dates are not as clear to me anymore.)

    Thank You USO!

  • Saw DCT Ft Lauderdale 1973

  • Oh man... you did a great job with this video! Thank you!

  • stands the test of time, for sure.....42 years later and still a great song!!!!

  • this has been one my favorite songs for the last 2 years.

  • first time i saw it GREAT...thanks Vid

  • first time i saw it GREAT...

  • WOW well done.

  • Tom Barry- Genius video homage to a master. Thank you for your creative talent to pay such a fitting tribute. Unforgettable.

  • that was great

  • I travelled for a living when BS&T was popular. I thought Chicago was great--it was but BS&T were that much better. Thanks fir the video and the memories

  • i don't know whats wrong w/ ppl but this is just about the beat song ever!

  • @suzanator339 I couldn't agree with you more. "And When I Die" was, from the moment I first heard it, my favorite song (and still is). It also pretty much reflects my spiritual philosophy: "I don't believe in Heaven but I pray to God there ain't no hell!" ^_-

  • I hope they thanked their bass player for having good taste in women.

  • David Clayton-Thomas of BS&T... Great voice.

  • @jcal52 I saw DCT with BS&T in 1970 at the H.I.C. Arena in Honolulu as a teen and 20 years later in Laughlin, Nevada on my birthday as a birthday gift from my wife. I even brought my youngest daughter with us. She was 12 at the time. And even she got a kick out of it. Awesome singer, awesome band, awesome memories.

  • Wow! A TUBA solo! Awesomesauce!

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID!!!!!

    YOU'RE AWESOME.

  • I love that interview at the beginning where Clayon-Thomas describes being blindsided by Laura Nyro; what could you think after hearing songs like that?

Clayton-Thomas did right by Laura with "And When I Die"; the man can sing blues.

  • Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!! Great video of a great band!! Thank you!!!

  • @gulfgypsy bless ya.

  • Awesome video! Excellent editing! Whoever put this together gets a big thumbs up!!!! There will never be another David Clayton-Thomas! Thanks for the memories!
