  • comic sans...

  • I would add an axe with a hammering surface to this list. Blunt hammering tools are among the most useful.

  • out our way, they always have a trash bag to help you in case you get stuck out there, you cut your hole in the trash bag to keep the rain off you. also it will keep you warm. an orange one that is big is nice. wear the hat. all the campers were ask to pack 2 trash bags. seriously.

  • I'm about to have my first kid... would I need anything else than diapers for him ?

  • Dutch survival kit:

    1. Debit card

  • After the hurricane-that-wasn't here in NYC last year, I've been giving some thought to what I would (and could) do if some sort of catastrophe took place which either temporarily or permanently knocked out most of the technology which modern people depend on and take for granted. As a result, I've been taking some preliminary steps to be prepared...and even though I live in the US and not the UK (although I did once), it's comforting to know that I already have most of the essentials together.

  • My survival kit:

    1: baseball bat

    2: magnum pistol

    3: armored car

4: I dont have enything valuable sticker on my bumper

    Irelands best survival kit

5: you might notis lack on a knife. Every one has a knife I want to be oryginal :DD

  • u made me get diarrhea

  • I think we're at the point where every 'survival' video is just rehashed info from all the other "experts"; unless someone comes up with an unheard of idea, just save time and don't advertise wisdom already peddled. Most of survival is about keeping your cool when others are freaking out; knowing what to do when others are running about, looting; it's not about how many knives we can carry or which guns blasts a bigger hole thru a target. Learn the fundamentals and practice until confident.

  • @threepercenter03, I think you have a massive point here but also I think lots of materila on you tube is made from "wannabees". When I go out for a hike I don't gear up for a survival situation, I gear up to withstand the elements and what I bring is what gonna help me survive with comfort. My tent is a good example for that, I wouldn't leave for a mountaintrip without my Hilleberg Tarra tent. I think all of this stuff in this video fits in my regular pack for hiking.

  • @Virihaure I'm not blasting those who want to sound smarter then the average picnic basket, but everyone should know what works for them and forget what "experts" carry. I have emergency blankets and shelters, tools, lights, etc.; but, if I'm out and about and something unexpected happens and leaves me stranded, what do I do with just the clothes on my back and bare hands? That's what we should be trying to learn more about, "minimalist survival", in case our kit isn't at hand when SHTF.

  • Would you prefer that tarp for shelter over a 1 person small tent? Or did you choose the tarp because of its light weight and multi usage. Depending on the element, if it were snow, I would choose the tent. Those things are a bitch to clean out if you track dirt in there lol.

  • everyone in the uk seems to have this anti big knives groupthink thing going on.

  • @ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz

England is full of arseholes who stab people.

  • @Lil306 so is scotland :P

  • what is the larger knife in the opening screen?

    i

  • No drinking water and you are dead in 3 days

  • @kerogre256 depends on climate & exercise. without water u can also be dead in 1 day.

  • Water is first ....

  • can you buy the BCB mug in stores,or can u only get them in the military and online?

  • Great presentation and very logical. This would be a great kit for the USA as well--where I am located. I would add three things 1) a poncho, 2) extra pair of socks 3) a map. I think the last item is one of the most important since if you really aren't thinking abut a map, you're bound to get lost--at least in many parts of the USA where we have large expanses of low population densities. But as you clearly indicated probably not necessary in Britain.

  • Nice video!!! Greetings from Brazil!

  • I have one rule dont go to the woods!

  • Great video and nice and clear with no nonsense, good to see one focussed on the UK. cheers

  • hehe he said torch

  • have you ever tried to fish with paracord?

  • I'd trade the note pad for a deck of cards. Worst case, you sit down and play solitaire and some jackass is bound to come up and tell you what move to make.... ;P great stuff bud!

  • The items are 11..you're forgetting the nintendo Ds.

  • what type of survival kit could you make that would get through airport security (i always wanted a kit just in case the plane goes down and i survive and need to keep doing that)

i suspect any knife, hatchet, or decently sharp rock would not make it through (well a sharp rock might if you keep it on your person since its not made of metal and wont set off the detector)

canteen might but you'd have to open it and show them you havent filled it with plastic explosives or something.

  • great vid mate

  • to me that is a back pack kit a survival kit is wore a round the waist so it you lost your back pack you still can survival over night or 2 or 3 days to travel out

  • yeah you really dont need a saw, a knife is fine.

and the multi tool?? WHY? *dude my tent has some loose screws. idk why id have a screwdriver out here, but hey, it has screws!*

  • I just need a flint and a knife

  • you gotta mix the volume levels a little better man, the music and your voice's audio are totally different, equalize my friend equalize

  • I am American and I liked your vid very much. I carry the same essentials in my pack. You reassured me that I have what I need for mine and my families needs. Thanks great vid!!

  • what about a swiis army knife

  • @swissarmyknives2012 How did YOU manage to misspell Swiss?

  • Thanks for sharing, very good info on kits. I am still developing mine but this gives me some ideas.

  • nice vid. but how about some fishing hooks and copperwire for snares

it would become very handy :D

    greets . sjak

  • nice vid partner, some good info, this pack would serve in any location as a base and people could add what they needed to suit their particular climate, I've thought about this and can think of no changes I would make even in a semi arid climate here in West Texas.

  • i liked the concept,

please design a kit for urban traveler.

  • Good kit, but what about food?

  • weather variations in the northwest of america are just as foggy and so on LOL

    GOOD KIT !

  • very nice vid, really enjoyed it:)

  • good video, but i thank we get lost in the 10 items idea, i thank a waight limit would be better, say 5lb, who realy cares if it,s 8 items or 10 items or even 20 items, whats realy important is that what ever you carry, is essenttial for your survival, and that you know how to use it, and that it,s light and small enough that it,s easy to carry and use so you wount leave it home,

  • One suggestion would be to include a topographic map (countour map) of the region that you are traveling in. A compass is somewhat worthless without a bearing or known direction.

Looks like U covered all the basic needs.

  • I guess I'm a 'novice prepper'. Learning a lot and have started to stock up. Already have a 9MM, .380 and ammo. Food, water, survival supplies adding up every pay day. I've even planned a route to Charleston.

I look around and see the majority of people are oblivious to the news they hear every day. I'm buying dried goods for storage...while they buy the latest video games. It must've been like this just before the crash of 1929. If this crash occurs..it'll make 1929 look like a picnic.

  • i really like that multitool's sliding action, and great choice on gear, lightweight and essential. thumbs up! :D

  • Its nice to have a compass but what do you need it for?

If you are into survival you should know how to find direction without it using Sun/stars/approximate time/season

  • @gambleyourhealth he has 1 probably because he's smart enough to know he may need it. i have a compass too. and i know how to find my way just fine. however, you should be prepared for changes that may cause confusion. if you are deep enough into woods it can get very dark for one thing. and that's just one thing. put it this way--i don't think you will find any experienced survival person telling anyone to not have a compass.

  • @walklikeacat1234 I live in the middle of the bush in Australia on a rather large bushland property that backs onto national park.

Your "experienced survival" is every day for me. Love bushwalking day or night. Never had a compass.

  • @gambleyourhealth I understand your point, and often at night I'll use the stars for navigation. But in England, fog often obscures the view of Sun and stars.

For modern day emergency use, a map, compass, satellite phone and GPS are the items I might wish I had....

  • i really dig what you said at the beginning about adapting your kit to your specific climate, i think a lot of people over look that aspect, and just pack relatively lightly. living at the foothills of the adirondack mountains in upstate new york, our climate swings dramatically. from bone chilling cold and snow in the winter with over 110 inches of snow annually on average, to temps in the 90's in high summer (30-40c), it quickly becomes a challenge to decide what and how much to go with.

  • I like you, i like that your not an old survivalist trying to share information, and your not some 10 year old kid who thinks they are experts at it. Your just you giving usefull information. Cheers mate!

  • Okay, nice video, but there are no such thing as "Essential items to survive" cause if you are smart enough, you can do without these items, but you are so right about this being a basic 10 piece kit, that might save your life.

  • Love that you emphasized the emphasis for personalization. People should know that whatever that works for *them, is what they carry. Glad to see that you have your stuff figured out, I learned a lot from it.

  • What kind of Tarp you used in the video?

  • Great information for the US as well. Keep in mind the variances of weather. Our weather can vary in various parts of each state! Loved the video!

  • That's great information! Thanks.

  • umm no antibiotics? GTFO

  • @rawimpact antibiotics do not last for long periods of time and they're not exactly easy to get.

  • @TheRaellz you can pack individual packets of honey that will work similar to topical antibiotics and can help with some allergy issues when consumed. Even white cane sugar can be used on superficial wounds. Here is the US many antibiotics are FREE, so tell your doctor that you have a UTI or something and call them in. That is how we have been stocking up on ours

  • @UndercoverT2 i live in the U.S and as far as i know you need prescription to get them in pill form. topical stuff lasts for a long time but i was referring to pills. i've had ear infections that nothing could help except pill antibiotics.

  • @TheRaellz i got rid of my ear infection with colloidal silver. the best anti biotic in the world.

  • i've lived in the wild's of lancashire when i was young ,all i had was a knife ,a hatchet ,no compass i used the moon for direction ,knicked a pair of tight's too act as a filter for the water,oh and a zippo of my grandad,i ate hedgehog ,squirel , and trout out of the stream, trout tickling too get the fish , i managed 7 month's like this until some smack head nicked my stuff while out hunting

  • Being an American from the west coast, I just love that thick British accent. This guy could narrate anything and make it clear and concise. This guy needs a job in America, he would be a hit.

  • Whether we are European or not, England has it's very own climate that can vary dramatically over the distance of 50miles, the vid poster is from the south which is affected by the gulf stream and is warmer, more flat and receives less rain than where I am from in the north (about 200 miles ish away) and is the complete opposite, this affecting the flora and fauna dramatically too. All he is trying to say is that you need a generic kit which suits any situation geographically in the UK. Good Vid

  • @fegman It seems that only people from England will back this.

Thank you for your comment buddy

  • @wall2rockclimber no probs mate, keep posting, really good vids!

  • @wall2rockclimber No probs mate, really well thought out, practical kit, mine is somewhat similar as it happens... really does my nut in when people critisise and they don't actually listen to what the vid is about. Have fun mate, keep on posting

  • @wall2rockclimber I'm in North Carolina, of the USA - totally get what you're saying about adjusting your kit to fit. within thirty miles or so of my location we've got beaches, freshwater ponds, river, pine forest and marsh type stuff. in the west of the state they have mountains which are totally diff than anything i'm used to. it's actually a point well worth making.

  • @wall2rockclimber This is one ignorant American saying that he really likes your video. Good job mate.

  • @wall2rockclimber Not necessarily. I'm American and I like what you have here. I should! Over the many years of my backpacking both of your lists are exactly the same as mine.

  • @wall2rockclimber By the way, nice vid! Clear and well presented.

  • good to have a basic first aid kit as well as a basic stitch kit, and knowledge of how to apply stitches.

  • i loved the vid.... u have a LOT of haters comment on this..... but i still love your vids. keep it up! = )

  • Where's your gun lol

  • The UK is part or Europe. Just saying.

  • I have the Gransfor Bruks mini belt hatchett, they are fucking sexy.

  • Why no mention of a mirror? It can be used for signaling, personal hygiene, first aid, etc.

  • I've never heard of anyone sewing with 550 para-cord

  • @TehRoflNinja The real 550 paracord has 7 inner yarns each made up of 3 strands that can be used for emergency sewing, fishing, etc.

  • nice kit dude wer r them woods? i need 2 find sumwhere to practice bushcraft . peace.

  • Nice kit mate

  • When it comes to torches I find most of the LED Lenser range is very good to have, they are built well and are good for your money, but not to mention they are really bright.

Where would I be able to buy a water bottle similar to yours as well as a possibles pouch similar to yours, I could use one of those pouches.

  • would scotland be relatively like englands climate just a bit more wet

  • @obsidianminecraftrh The climate in Scotland is colder especially up on the tops so it's always best to pack a few more layers! happy camping :)

  • Bear Grill doesn't need any of that :D

  • What kind of tarp?

  • why do people always seem to refrain from the subject of the video?

  • Whatever, this video gonna help a lot for the adventure freaks like us! Thanks for sharing buddy!

  • @biswaruph Thank you very much, have fun out there!!!

    Merry Christmas too!!

  • @wall2rockclimber Can you please tell us what kind of cord you talked about at 1:54? A link on an eBay Item will do. Thanks

  • come to OKLAHOMA the climate TRIXTER of the world...

  • @esh1

    Someone's insecure about his masculinity.

  • No you have nine if you combine the water bottle and you cooking pot

  • england is not un europe? that's news to me..

  • @philipkthompson well its not linked to the main land is it?? no its part of the European Union!!

  • @wall2rockclimber

Yep, but I do think UK and Holland (EU) is pretty much the same climate.

  • @megalodonNL Nowhere has the same climate as the UK it is in a league of its own because of global position as is the rest of the countries on Earth!

"Pretty much" is not "the same" so no arguement there buddy!

  • @megalodonNL Not so buddy...

  • @philipkthompson It's not part of the European continent and although part of the EU most English or British people would never consider themselves European!

  • Instead of a hatchet, you could use a good-quality, high-carbon steel gurkha-kukri blade as a "chopper/hatchet" tool, plus a good defensive blade. Minimization is always good.

  • Your guidelines also work well in Michigan. Anywhere in the USA we add water purification via tablets or boiling for at least three minutes. We also use the possible kit: Mine is in a metal Prince Albert tobacco can about the size of a wallet. Inside are over 20 items. The can is first wrapped with duct tape, next aluminum foil and last para cord. Sealed by a turn of electrical tape. regards stonenstrop

  • i see that there now toothpaste mate lol

love from across the pond lol

    jajaja ur bloody funny cheerios

  • Having been homeless in Michigan for three months (Jan to March), I can attest this kit would work perfect in Northern states. I would opt for a steel Nalgene or Klean Kanteen to melt snow/boil water in. A very small bottle of Bleach to disinfect suspect water (a few drops per Nalgene/Kanteen) is invaluable, not to mention some petrolium jelly-infused cotton balls to make all-weather "tinder." Stay warm/dry with anti-sweat 100% Merino wool for undershirt, balaclava, socks. Waterproof boots

  • I find a mobile phone and a credit card works for me, but then that's not much fun

  • Everyone needs some sort of kit to have in the house or car or even at work.

Your kit seems to cover the basics and gives me ideas for my own.

    Thanks for the video.

  • that seems like a basic survival kit for no matter where you are. Water, shelter, Fire, food. Good knife/folding saw, cooking cup and your good to go :)

  • uk climate different than european?? youre european for pete's sake!

  • @BigRooster747 UK is Britan, Europe is a whole continent. You do relize that Russia is much colder than say, the island of Cyprus. Do not take this as criticizem, as it is not. Have a good day mate.

  • @BigRooster747 .... Europe inst one big country, Spain,, France, England, Scotland, Germany etc etc- all have different climates!, please don't be one of those idiots who think everyone in Europe is the same and the climate and way of life and society is the same, its like us saying everyone on the American continent has the same climate and way of life.e.g- Americans have the same climate and traditions as Brazil.

  • @BigRooster747 And your an uneducated european!! yes the whole of europe has different climates!! you coming from where you do should no that!!

  • @wall2rockclimber

He calls himself an "armchair survivalist". 'nuff Said.

  • @BigRooster747 i think he meant continental european weather. hotter summers, cooler winters

  • I love how the Brits always say, "right" at the start of a sentence, I just think that is cool.

  • u need a map.......

  • I'm doing a keychain survival kit, you could do a video on your own? thanks

  • @MrFreedomrequired your right carry a fishing pole ,and tackle with you were ever u go also u might wanna carry a tackle box around with you every were ya know ...JUST IN CASE it makes no sense to make some paracord braclets and were em everyday and carry a lil tin with some small fishing hooks thrown in with your favorite mints and carry them in your pocket along with a fero rod and your favorite knife with you every day like i do so im gonna ditch those in favor of the forementiond items

  • @hampsterMSR i think what he means is england is different interms of terain from other parts of europe just like u wouldnt want to put together a survival kit for a desert climate if you live in alaska

  • to survive in the wild u need these, but in the urban, u need money

  • Looks like a pretty comprehensive kit for survival! Good ideas!

  • OMG a fire kiln....or just take a lighter :L

  • Wait, how are you going to fish or sew with paracord? Isn't that a bit thick? Or can you pull it apart into little threads?

  • @JeffTheRambler You nailed it, they pull a part into smaller bits.

  • if you use a deoderent can and the magensesm rod(sparky thing) then you can get a quick flame and you stay funky fresh

  • 2 things to add.

    Survival bag and/or foil blanket.

    Some tiny snacks. Good vid

  • What is the difference Between English ,Scottish or welsh kit rather than just English kit ? No racists remarks please.

  • @deeds1957 - MIDGIE REPELLENT!!!

  • @s1aitken If the shit hits the fan....and you have to go survival....the last thing youll worry about is Midgie repellent!

  • @MrFreedomrequired Have I missed something here? An Englishman puts up a vid, clearly stating its about surviving in ENGLISH woods. Someone then asks the diff between kits thru UK. WTF has this got to do with Canada?

Most (sensible) people will plan ahead and would include midgie repelent in their kit for Scotland. Obviously if you find yourself in a survival situation, it's not priority.

There are some forums out there where people seem to enjoy petty arguments - maybe worth a look!

  • @s1aitken agreed. The ignorance these days is almost as thick as the greenhouse gasses and mercury in the water

  • @deeds1957 how can any response be racist? are you retarded? they are all white groups you mentioned. WOW the UK has been brainwashed to shit.

  • @Wyndstarthedruid How can a response be racist ? It is because the comment -answer could be a racist comment.. I hate racists. I haven't been for the retard check up but i'm sure i'm not 1. I asked the question in jest as I have found out over the years that somehow English people get England , Great Britain and the United Kingdom mixed up where they think that is is all England.

  • @Wyndstarthedruid Your response isn't correct though as In the Uk there are many races but different cultures where depending on what part of the UK you come from ,what religion you are and what school went to has a great effect on what you can achieve in life.

  • @deeds1957 There are many races sure, but the actual english themselves are a majority white, the rest are immigrants. and thats a damn shame that it is up the school you went to what measures your success.

  • @Wyndstarthedruid More probably than not saying that the majority of English are white as in Caucasian will only last maybe the next 2 generations. The number 1 boys name in England for new borns is Mohammed but the authorities keep that fact hidden. The powers that be have declared war on the White race. I do hate racism but have found (witnessed ) in my life that most racists are not Caucasian but Black, Coloured . Muslim and Hispanics seem to complain a lot but never go back. LOL

  • @deeds1957 did i just hear facts? You sir, just made my day. Carry on.

  • @Wyndstarthedruid Wait I thought england....and the english were a country not a race....holy fuck im confused to hell now.....where does race have anything to do with a country! When you become a citizen of england no matter your race...YOU BECOME ENGLISH!

  • @MrFreedomrequired incorrect. simple answer. if that answer was infact correct, we wouldnt be hearing shit from the native americans and mexicans in america about how we are not americans we are just immigrants. truth is, we are immigrants, conquering immigrants. now look at england. who are the immigrants now?

  • @Wyndstarthedruid That all comes down to race not country! A country encompasses all races not just one based on skin colour!

  • @MrFreedomrequired

Just quickly mate when you get citizenship to England it does not make you English it makes you a citizen of the UK. But race has nothing to do with what i said nor this video so please dont carry on this arguement .

  • Great video, I think that any kit that you will carry at all times is the best kit. I think your kit covered all important bases.

    Good job!

    Thank you for sharing!

    Keep it up.

  • does your water bottle go in the mug

  • Good choices to take. Did you mention food? The ten essensials, the way I practice it America, always includes a little food; I like some preseasoned, instant 'whole grains' in a zip-lock bag. It keeps forever and is quite filling. A couple of pieces of dark chocolate and a couple of packages of soup will round it out, all in the same zip-lock bag. It's an easy thing to carry. Low weight, bulk, and gives you an added egde of safty if you have to spend and extra day or two out in the bush.

  • Why does every "Survival Kit" video i watch have a fire striker in it... Isn't a cigarette lighter much more practical... ?

You can get them wet, they create a flame rather than spark.. and they're still just as rugged and durable. I know that's my choice when it comes to fire.

  • @hillynath69 Yes but lighters are a machine with internal components, thus they can break or wear out. They also require fuel for them to work. They will also have trouble in even minor winds. Considering that they both weigh very little I include a lighter and a firesteel.

  • @hillynath69 yeah but you only get to use it like 1000 not unlimmited times

  • It's hard to believe there are 20m of paracord in there - if it fits in your palm, it's 5m at most.

  • @cdo29mike use leaves

  • no wire for trap setting?

  • i love your videos but can you please turn down the music in the intro?

Please we all will very well appreciative.

  • @yoshied1 and cut scence's please

    thank you

  • Bear Grills' #1 survival tool = your own piss

  • @troeb101095 Contact me if you would like to purchase a liter of my survival urine, made fresh daily.

  • @troeb101095 why do you have to bring up that phony?

  • Thanks for your videos pal. They are really instructives.

  • thanks sweety , cool tips.

  • um i would scratch fire in the four pirorities and replace it with rescue if you think its rong i spent my camp seminar time with a usaf survivalist

  • @CalebHaggard5 I imagine fire wasn't priority on his list as his training would have been focused towards evasion and remaining undetected. Fire is kinda important for many reasons.

  • nice

    subd

  • what about a small skinny signal mirror?

  • @iworkforme Burning wet wood and leaves is more effective (in my opinion)

  • what about a small skinny signal mirror?

  • The most important item is the mind set of survival. If you don't know what you're doing then you won't get anything done.

  • I have the exact same multitool

  • Nice video and better explanation about the priorities. Regards from Spain.

  • what is that tool called at 5:39? your accent is too heavy, thanks.

  • @leeradio13 i meant 5:00.

  • @leeradio13 commenting yerself ? lol
