this man does not just sing. he takes the very pure essence of music and throws it forth to the world through his voice. the greatest singer of al time and will be sadly missed. R.I.P from England
Greatest singer in history. Inspires me to become more than just an acoustic singer/songwriter. Its almost as if normal singing doesn't even move me anymore. I need the drama and emotional power of an operatic approach. Luciano you truly were the best there ever was. RIP
I played with Pavaroti in 2005, and he had declined, sadly, so I would think this isn't live, but it doesn't matter, it's his voice, and he has colors and tones in his voice that are unmatched. The miracle is that he became a singer, and the world knew him, because he could have gone pro as a soccer player in Italy, and he passed on soccer, to sing to the world and share his voice.
A trully beautiful performance by an incredible man. Lip sync-ing or not, it was his soul singing, and that's what made him touch the hearts of so many.
I think he knew then that he would never perform again. You can see it in his face. Rest in peace, Luciano.
Wonder if he was thinking "this might be my last performance", og didnt he knew how sick he was? Im not updated on that. Anyway, INCREDIBLE SINGER! So many are missing him, including me :'(
it is not Pavarotti who sings , but his soul , his angelic soul ...what leaves me with open mouth is when he sings ' vincero , al alba vincero " .....and then i see in his eyes the enormous desire to win and to live and to sing .....Great man ! Great singer !
Judging by the way he sing, I think he does not want to let his audiences know he is in bad health condition and want the audience to enjoy the concert. He still put a lot of effort in this concert... If you dont believe try to sing a full song when you are sick and appear nothing happen. I bet you can't do it...
Conductor Leone Magiera revealed on his book "Pavarotti Visto da Vicino" that Pavarotti was lip-syncing on this performance. But it doesn't matter, actually - it was still a wonderful concert. I wish all lip-syncers were like Pavarotti, who in my humble opinion is one of the greatest singers of all time. Bravo, maestro - you'll be missed
He was lip-syncing. It had nothing to do with trying to pull off any sort of stunt, though. He was lip-synching to a recording of his own voice because he was in advanced stages of pancreatic cancer and would not have been able to perform live. I personally see nothing wrong with that.
"Thank You Pavarotti for your beautiful song, and for all you gave us. Your God given gift of singing, and your talent in all areas of your career. Your time and dedication in bringing us joy and peace. Our world has been a better place. You are missed. God Bless You always and sing with the Angels!"
Do you know why he is smiling at 1:38-1:44? The audience is singing the part that the choir ordinarily sings and it makes him so happy. And he makes us happy, so thank you Luciano Pavarotti for being you!
I hope to have a voice like his at 70 years of age. He sang better at 70 than some ever do professionally. He was amazing and I am surely going to miss him and his wonderful voice.
Pavarotti did a wonderful thing by weaving his voice with the great voices of the world in song, music of all persuasions. And yet staying true to his operatic training and talent. The outcome of this will grow and is yet to be seen. Thank you Luciano for the music, thank God for Luciano!
I'm so sorry for the spelling errors in the previous comment. I did mean to say after the first minute and fifty three seconds of this performance.... Please forgive my error
ater one minure and 53 seconds into this performance I'm sure he feels like he knows a secret about himself. The look is very touching and I sense a little fear in his eyes. So very sad a look, its as if he knew what was to come shortly. Still the most beautiful rendition of this performance. God Bless you Luciano Pavarotti.
i wasn't going to comment, but after reading the posted comments i must say that i agree with the people saying that your time in earth was too short, we'll miss you, the fans and your beloved people.
It's incredible. I wish the shot had stayed on Pavarotti. You can see how much he enjoyed giving this powerful performance... he didn't fade out, he was incredible and imposing until he retired away. All too short his life, but he lived it as one who would smile during this most incredible moments. Doing what he loved, and what others loved him to do.
I would love to see his face during this whole performance.
He sung this nocturne when he was 70 years old, and with and advance case of pancreatic cancer yet to be diagnosed. It's as if he was anticipating the end...when the took the task to sing Nessun Dorma at this opening ceremony. Once all this is taken into consideration , it is still an impressive rendition of this aria. It takes a man with a real heart to do this, and Maestro Pavarotti was all heart. He will be missed...
please notice how far he is from the mic. a lot of singers in the pop world could learn a thing or two from this. A great voice that made a lasting impression on this world. Grazzia!!
I think I can speak for all of us simply by saying your time on earth was too short, because the angels wanted you to sing for them. We know you'll give the one hell of a show. I can't wait to hear you again up there.
I'd say rest in peace...but I know you'll be touring up there, so have fun.
One voice recognizable by the entire world. Wonderful. Your voice, your gift to the world. Your spirit, your model for all humankind. Your laughter, infectious. Our world has been blessed because of your life. Til we meet again. K
Can you truly say that one has died if he continues to live in the hearts of others. Can you also say that his light has dimmed when the curtain draws. A star will always remain to shine bright in the sky, just look above and see his never ending splender.
Thank you very much Maestro! It was you who made me fall in love with opera recitals. For that I am truly grateful. I hope to see you when I meet my maker. Arrivederci Maestro Luciano Pavarotti!
Goodbye Pavorotti ... I never saw you in concert but wish I did ... I think your music brought the world closer .... fly with the angels xx your many fans in Ireland
I wish you didnt cut off the applause at the end..that part of his whole magic...the emotion that the song brings to where you cheer and applaud before the orchestra has stopped playing....wish it had about 20 more seconds to hear the crowd cheer for him.

conductor is just trying bad mouth pavarotti so his book could be sold.
if it was a lip sync then it would have sounded like his usual Nessun Dorma's.
