The Tuskegee scientists wanted to continue to study how the disease spreads and kills. The experiment lasted four decades, until public health workers leaked the story to the media.

Beloved, Rev. Thomas was a blessing to Trinity/Pastor Wright when he extended the affirmation and support of the larger UCC at this Feb 2008 anniv.
With the viciousness over the past wks (less to do with the church/pastor, more about smearing/crippling the Obama presidential race), it was even more appreciated.
Given the widely diverse UCC congregations, not all understand/support/agree. I respect your differences; it was just heartwarming to hear from our bro's and sis's in Christ.

I heard just a piece of the remarks after the "G D America" comment, and I can now put it into perspectve where I felt just as offended as you were when I didn't hear what was exactly after that statement before.

I actually liked the part where the Reverend said the US government invented aids, with which to infest the black people. I liked the part where he said 3 strikes and you are out was enacted just for black people. I think it might be better to explain the context in which Wright works -- that his statements were not just removed from that context, warped by a willfully-ignorant -- and threatened -- white press.

FYI, the only person who worked on the study the entire time was black.

They were never told they had syphilis, nor were they ever treated for it. According to the Centers for Disease Control, the men were told they were being treated for "bad blood," a local term used to describe several illnesses, including syphilis, anemia and fatigue.

I am a fulltime caregiver for my elderly mother - with the help of hospice. One of Mom's aides is a beautiful black gal. Once or twice a month a patient/family will not allow her to help - because she is black. That is so sad. That does not speak highly of our country.
