Simply one of the best. Go see him live, you'll never regret it. I've seen him a number of times over the past decades and will do so again when I get the chance. A much overlooked and unappreciated genius. Coltrane praised his fountain of a soul.
First heard this track inside a cafe in New York whilst Backpacking throughout the States in the late 80s, as a young British niave man talk about life experiences, thank God for Pharoah and quality music ...AMEN
This is REAL smooth Jazz that is actually fun to listen to...Does anyone want to get on board with my petition to get the soprano sax banned from smooth Jazz?
It is so wonderful because it is LOVE he plays, LOVE he feels for the music, and love he transmits, I just wish one day I can speak love like you, god bless you pharoah...
I first heard Pharoah in 1970..I was at a party where we dropped acid and I was up all night. Morning came, i was tired and felt dirty, but decided to check out what was playing on the stereo, which had been on all night, tuned to a radio station. i put on the headphones: PHAROAH SANDERS, 'LET US GO INTO THE HOUSE OF THE LORD'...perfect then, and now. Hum Allah.
I've been to see many veteran jazz, soul, rock artists, whose best work was done decades in the past and who aren't necessarily at the top of their game anymore. I always get a sense of needing to see them while they're still with us, to pay tribute to what they did when they were younger.
Pharoah is different - this guy can still play, he's still relevant, he's still got an amazing, distinctive sound and he's still great.
He deserves to be far better known. If you get the chance, go and see him
@postex1 I'm going to see him tomorrow night! Can't believe it. I'm too excited and really... really can't believe he'll be there. This will forever be the night I saw Pharoah live. I'm thankful he's still around.
Thanks for posting this ectomorfoo.... amazing jazz ....
I was there at the concert... and you can actually hear me in the recording...
Pharoah and his band spotted me and my friend enjoying their music... so when they came out to perform their last theme they invited me and my friend for a couple of drinks after the show... And guess what.... now I see that I should have quit my banking job and joined the MAN himself and his band for drinks.... David, Tbilisi, Georgia
The best,at his best !. Pharoah Sanders is my God, I worship him. There is no joy higher than listening to his music. Disconnect to the worldly consciousness and connect to the higher spiritual consciousness. He is God in the form & shape of a human body.If you are lookin for 'Love'/'God' (its the same thing), just plug in to him. Quest for truth, love, joy & God gets answered here.Thank you God,thank you Pharoah Sanders, for such beautiful music.
Hi jazzspiritual, i really love this music so pls dont take this the wrong way but we should never refer to man as God. No man should worship another because he did not create you or anyone else. Even Pharoah does not expect to be worshipped, he does not have the attributes of God. Just appreciate and enjoy good music. God bless you
Pharoah Sanders music teaches me sometimes...
Talks to me even, I believe he even taught classes on the art of music effecting the psyche/music coming from the soul.
He's like the Rafiki to my Simba XD

@ChadizzleFoshizzle i don't think you should use the title smooth jazz. just remove it from your life and you don't have to worry about it.

I lived for a year in Berlin, Germany and I heard this album almost every day. Now, when I look back, I know why: it kept my faith.
