i think what happened was that the grenade got stuck between the bubble shield and the gravity lift. When the bubble shield's run ended, the grenade was launched. That's the physics.

That the other guy was in the air just as the grenade was is pure luck.

well the plasma grenade always blows up when it sticks to someone or it lands but the bubble shield should have deflected the plasma grenade but it probably couldn't do it properly due to the fact of the low volocity and the grenade was fighting against the bubble shield so that it would fall but because of the bubble sheild the grenade didn't fit into one of its conditions in order to blow up technically it was still in the air where plasma grenades do not blow up srry for the long explanation.
