Ahahahaha! Thank you for your comments and story. 'Superstar' is one of the hardest songs to sing along to, I find. That song and 'Christ Is Born.' Both of them demand such control, both vocally and breathing-wise. It's a tricky one. The high notes are only good if there is quality in tone and some strength, otherwise it's not singing along to me. When singing in front of friends (my family already knows this about me...), they are often surprised that THAT voice is coming from ME, a MAN!
Grest voice! I realized it was not Karen's voice after 20 seconds. So it's really similar! But, is it true you're her daughter? What a great honor! I looooooooove this song!
Ahahahahhaah! No, no, no... I'm not Karen's daughter -- I'm not even related! I'm just a fan who's been listening to their music since I was 11 years old. I've just trained my voice over the years to sound like hers. I appreciate your compliment, though.
Your straining alittle to hard here.. but still good.. the " I really do" at the end of the first was right with Karen... You have the the lower notes nailed.. But when Karen goes up in to the higher ones its almost like your playing catch up with her.. But you have alot guts for even attempting this song.. Considering the recorded vocal was the first time Karen ever sang it. It was intended as a work lead. But Richard loved it and thought Karen couldn't do it any better and released it as is...
I'll always be playing catch up with Karen regardless of whatever song I attempt; she the best! Again, I think this is one of those songs that I would like to do over again. It's challenging to attain that 'round' resonance even when going into the higher range of my voice to match Karen's. Thanks, though!
Ahahahhahahaaa! I don't! People are allowed to comment, and that's fine. I KNOW that Carpenters songs are hard to do; they were perfectionists! It's just fun to sing along to, you're right.
If I do a search for 'Carpenters' and 'Superstar', your sorry imitation comes up??? You can singalong all you want, keep your videos to yourself! What makes you think others want to listen to your pompous ass???
Thank you! When singing along to the Carpenters, either of them, it's always a fun challenge to try to match their tone and resonance. At the same time, it's a really neat feeling when I do!
"It's really neat matching her tone"??? You've got to be kidding! Are you smoking that candle?? If that went on 30 more seconds I would of killed myself.
I'm really sorry that this provoked you to want to kill yourself! You really shouldn't have continued to listen if you didn't want to, or even taken the time to make a comment. I've always loved singing along with one of the most famous musical groups in the entire world and like to share it!

KindredC, don't let these comments get you down. Carpenter songs are hard to do. Sony&Cher's We've only Just Began is so so. You're just having fun.

Ahahahhaa... I know! The same thing happens to me when I search the song, too!
I do this for fun, I'm not hurting anybody, and it keeps the memory of my parents alive for me.
