And also the official Eon Casino royale, which was fairly faithful to the novel after Bond arrives at the casino. Living Daylights fully adapted the short story, but continued beyond it.
I saw this live T.V. show in 1953..Lucky Me....LoL.. People thought I was Crazy when I told that Barry Nelson played the first James Bond ( Not Sean Connery )and that his name was Jimmy Bond for the Live T.V. Showing of Casino Royale . I also told that Casino Royale was the Very 1st. James Bond Show !
There was a pop-up playing music in the background, and I was like, "Why.... are there people singing Justin Bieber's Baby song in a video made in the 50's? Then I paused the video and found the pop-up. XD
This is decent as it captures the feel of the novels better than most EoN films. Sadly they changed Bond to American, Peter Lorre is the best Bond villain!
@Wodanaz ..well no it doesn't.The films Dr.No, Thunderball and Goldfinger are quite similar to the books.Sean Connery is a close match to the ian Fleming character and is the only Bond actor who met Fleming. On Her Majesty Secret Service is almost identical to the book. All the other Bond films bare no ressemblence except for M and Moneypenny etc to the books(i've read 10 of them)..In the books he drives a Bentley for example. He only drives the Aston once in Goldfinger.
@irish66 -I'm not too sure. Maybe. My Dads mate is a Bond expert and I think he had it on tape- he swapped me boat loads of Bondmabelia for the Lotus Esprit in fish mode because they were rare at the time-. I presumed it aired in the UK , maybe Australia too. He's South African so he might have done it there before he did Blockbusters!-"Can I have a "P" please Bob."
Wow. I knew this existed, but I never thought I'd get to see it with my own eyes! Thank you so much for the upload. I really appreciate getting the opportunity to see the first ever James Bond production. Also, I knew Peter Lorre was the first Le Chiffre and Barry Nelson was the first James Bond .... Now I know that before Ursela Andress, Linda Christian was the original Bond girl!
@chatmanmat Why wouldn't you ever see it? It's been released on video a ton of times - at least it was, before MGM snatched up the rights to it recently.
Most of those video releases were a bit before my time; once I found out about them, they were being sold for about fifty dollars a piece, which seemed a bit pricey to me. The only reasonably priced copy of the '53 Casino Royale was as a special feature on the Casino Royale comedy movie, and that version is fairly hard to come by as well (though I did find and buy a copy of it a month or two ago.) :)
SPECTACULAR, IMPRESSIVE, AMAZING! Thank you very much for sharing with us this film, a real historical register from pop culture from 1950s and from our own time!
Too bad Cary Grant wasn't playing the title character. he would've made the best Bond of all time since Fleming had him in mind

Just had a heated discussion on the phone with my mum over who was 'the 1st Bond'.
I take it this is crap? It must be, this first part has over 26,000 hits, with part 2 hitting less than 8,000.
I'll pass.

I am annoyed that Bond is portrayed as "American." Jimmy Bond? And Felix Leiter is in MI6?? Jesus, Ian Fleming must've been pissed . . .

@DaftSwank Hardly.... he wrote a number of follow-up TV films that were never produced.

Thanks for this.
I thought that I'd seen all of the Bond movies already. lol
This is a different take though. It's James Bond of the CIA and his accomplice Clarence Leiter of the British Secret Service.
