  • *you're

  • Choice!

  • Anyone else think immediately of High Fidelity when they hear this?

  • i love the 13th floor elevators their drummer lives in my town and is friends with my granpa ive gotten to jam with him before his name is john ike and he is awesome

  • WOW! That takes me back...WAY back!! 13th floor elevators were a super 'groovy' group!! I will check out the other old videos attached here...should be great! 'You're Gonna Miss Me", yea, thats what I tell all my men as I walk out the door!!

  • Roky YOU rock!

  • R e s p o n d t o y o u r e m o t i o n s .

  • Ha! I live in Va. I think the13 Floor Elevators are mad underated and unknown. But I've even met dudes who don't know who Pink Floyd. I remember wearing a Floyd shirt and someone said "what's on your shirt" and I told them they were photos of Pink Floyd album covers and they asked what Pink Floyd was. That shit blew my mind. Plus If I'm correct 13FE only had 3 albums so I don't expect anyone to know who they are regardless of how old they are.

  • I do not know what they are on about

  • Tommy Hall and his jug. Gotta love it!

  • Damn I love the 13th Floor Elevators. Unfortunately I've never even met anyone who listens to them let alone knows who they are.

  • @milksteak74 Dude I love them just as much as you. If not more.

  • @milksteak74 really? where do you live? The Shetland isles?

  • @milksteak74 That's just elevator music.... cameltoe...

  • @milksteak74 had their first album back in 71' It was different, but groovy!

  • Tommy Hall ( electric jug and vocals ) lives in San Francisco's 'Tenderloin' district , according to an SFWeekly article , a few years back.

  • Epic stuff right here brethren. To those whose appreciate it-fuckin right....these guys were way ahead of there times

  • Genius

  • Greatest psychedelic rock song of all time.

  • Thanx for the upload. This track is really cool. hobby is to rediscover all those great bands from the 60s that didn´t "broke through". it´s a reel musical treasure. Listen for example to Music Machine and the track "Talk, talk" and of course a band from Scandinavia called THE ZETTLERS. Check up their versions of "Skinnie Minnie" and "Beautiful Delilah". Really f.....g good and with a bloody driving beat.

  • More than very nice!

  • psychotic reaction nuff said

  • My gonna miss me??

  • Grammar :/

  • arthur lee

  • when the singer scream, i'm thinkin' to Janis Joplin =)

  • @ElectricFunkWave

  • Grandparents of psychedelic rock : )

  • Wow. Wow. Wow. I've seen a lot of bands and video but this tops it all. Wow. _ucking wow.

  • love you ROKY

    FOREVER

  • Too bad this cuts short! Dick Clark approaches the band, and asks Tommy "Who's the head guy in the band?" Tommy pauses before answering and then says:

    "We're all HEADS."

  • His name is not "Rocky" - it's Roky

  • Awesome song to send to your ex.

  • Is that Jed Clampett on the jug....

  • If Dr JP Odwebb is watching, I remember you playing me this.

Werdna Nitram BA (hons) 2nd class fine art, Norwich. Lost track of you after Camden Town. Hope you survived and prospered. I did. And I never lost faith.

  • rocky ericsson

  • it sounds like fight starter karaoke by dropkick murphys

  • whats that instrument that makes the pigeon noise?

  • @trumpetfish1

    The guy's playing a jug.

Just blowing into a jug bottle, basically. But he's "electrified it", as in he stuck a microphone in it.

  • @trumpetfish1

    electric jug- tommy hall

  • @trumpetfish1 lol pigeon)) Seems that pigeons are kinda psychedelic birds)

  • G l o r i a?

  • That's some pretty good jug-playing there, man

  • sounds like the yardbirds

  • @bml516 With a jug of corn whiskey

  • 23 people prefer electric kettles.

  • How are the Stones supposed to be better than the Elevators?

  • those "AAAAARGH" things are just freaking awesome

  • There's a lot of fucking charisma on that stage. I'm glad I stumbled upon this...

  • To the stuffed shirt manager who got me fired,to the dismay of my coworkers:This one's for you.

  • what is that guy blowing into? Looks like some kind of gallon jug

  • @melm4402 Yeah, a jug. It produces that instantly recognizable sound that the Elevators are known for. I believe some jugs have electrical components and are thus referred to as electric jugs, but in this particular video it appears to be only an amplified jug. Many people find the instrument interesting, but many also find it rather annoying and bothersome. Personally, I dig it. It's just one more thing that adds to the grooviness of the 13th Floor Elevators!

  • @ShapelyDice "Electric Jugs" - wasnt that the name of a porn film from the same era?

  • @melm4402 Its a ceramic cylinder that makes it kinda echo in a way, and held the mic at the end

  • what is THAT?

  • 13th floor elevators= coolest band EVER!

  • Where has the time gone since the 60s and the battle of the bands in Austin and San Antonio.....Rachels Children vs 13th Floor!!!! Doug Sahm...those where the days.

  • Sutherland RIP

  • Rocky----------------------------------

  • Nevermind all the meaningless drug posts. This song does and always has kicked butt!!!

  • i met one of these guys i cant tell you his name cause he was a dick.... its true.... with old age comes hairy balls and being a dick

  • invisible harmonica!

  • Roky, a hero of psychodelia. My hero.

  • Jar virtuoso

  • video produced by Lipps Inc. -

  • fuck yes

  • You didn't legalize! You didn't legalize!

A cop asked me one time what the word heeded meant.

That just goes to show you that the ones who get to make the decisions are for the most part dull normal.

Anyway my experience in jail was the weirdest, the cops would record themselves saying weird random shit backwords on the intercoms and play it backwards real late at night.

No wonder Roky wants to kick 'em in the nuts!

  • PLEASE, NO MORE IRRITATING JUGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • @hiikua it's the best bit!!

  • damn thats intense singing i just realized

  • what does the Tikkatikkatikkkatikka ???

  • @MarilouPouletPatate i dont know. but this shows me again that EVERITHIG IS INVENTED

  • @MarilouPouletPatate An Electric Jug, I don't know where the hell can you find it, but I need one!

  • Tikkatikkatikkkatikka tikkatikka tikka tick! I remember hearing this song in Tarzana in 1966 and thinking to myself "There's something very strange happening here!" Well it's 2011 and I still love the song. And something very, very strange indeed did happen, but it was a long time coming. The pride of Austin Rock, I give you the Thirteenth Floor Elevators!

  • @666frankiller i hate you more for posting something about Bieber than the guy himself!! How Boring!!! It's the same on everypage!!YAWN!!!

  • Goooooood

Buena musica, lo mejor de la juventud Hippie, buen video, saludos desde Mexico

  • Good question my man. Love the comments it provoked:)

  • So, there are 21 idiots who listened to this song.

  • @DaButcha1 22!

  • From now on I'm going to try to play all their songs!!

  • ahhhh, roky

  • they coined the term "psychodellic rock"...really,they did!

  • Roky also suffered from schizophrenia. Such a sad story. Watch the doc YOU'RE GONNA MISS ME...seriously,everyone,..see it!

  • que bueno che rock de garage! animales del rock!

  • totally awesome Texas band.. rediscovering their first LP astounding release..love how Janis dug the Floors...

  • There is that--then there is this over here

  • i remember listening to this song back in the days when i used to smoke mariuhana... oh the memories!

  • he said this was lip synced....doesnt look like it to me though.....

  • you're

  • Roky needs to update to a digital jug. I read a bio of the Elevators-the drummer wasn't that into acid-"Wrong group, maaaaaaaaan." That's why he was hiding behind the potted palm.

  • "You're".

    :p

  • My gonna miss me...

  • the jug has always been Favorite from day one.

  • aooohh!!! aoooohhh yeah!!!!

  • @deaddoc:Thanks for sharing. I'll send you a power washer so you can clean out your ears.

  • Look at the guitarist's soul patch. Who the fuck had a soul patch back then?!

  • @SeaHorseGypsy Some folkies did in the late 50s. And Paul of Peter, Paul and Mary had one. Goatees were popular among musicians who wanted a "beatnik look." Mitch Miller, the Capitol Records music producer had one. (Maybe a different company?) He had a sing along show on tv every Friday night in the early '60s.

  • Mungo Jerry's In the Summer Time also a Jug Player ...

  • @IamSkullrules not an electric jug though

  • @IamSkullrules The first County Joe and the Fish was a jug band, and The NYC jugband, and the most outrageous was The Fugs.

  • ROKY LOOKS FCKED UP....... AT 1:25 HE MISSES THE SAYING ''YEAH'' AND AT 1:53 HE MISSES AGAIN.....TRUE GARAGE TRASH...BUT GREAT!

  • Comment removed

  • @Pukeman44 You know, back then, all bands had to mime their songs on shows. Some of them had a joke of betraying it by missing the words to be obvious because they resented having to pantomime their songs. Look for the plugless guitars! I just read upon this band's history, lots of costly drug abuse. But I still wouldn't call this garage trash. It was inspired and creative.

  • @deaddoc "Garage Trash" is a compliment.

  • @Salguine Ha, ha,... okay!

  • you guys need to lighten up

  • in all my days ive never seen anyone actually playing the electric jug!

  • High Motherfucking Fidelity

  • Don't see this everyday!!! Wooo!

  • g-l-o-r-i-a

  • Absolute utter perfection. The impact of hearing this monster classic has not diminised one bit since 1966, despite having heard it literally hundreds and hundreds of times.

  • THE GUITARIST WITH THE "FLAVOR SAVER" KILLS IT! AWESOMEFACE! THE JUGG? SPEECHLESS...

  • THE GUITARIST WITH THE "FLAVOR SAVER" KILLS IT! AWESOMEFACE!

  • THE BASSIST KILLS IT! AWESOMEFACE!

  • electro shock therapy baby

  • Roky!!!

  • '66-'68 was the best years for R&R! The prune Blu Cheer 13th floor ......

  • @Mr57Henry Ahh, Blue Cheer. I happen to know that the guitarist later one became aa expert hurdy gurdy player, recording medieval music, quite good.. Ethan James was his name I believe. I have one of his tapes (no cd made) at a Renaissance Faire in California in 1994 or so. He died of a pathology that I cannot recall at the moment sometime during the late 1990s. RIP

  • @deaddoc Hey there deadoc, Not sure on the name but a nephew of mine is in High on Fire (Metal group) and became friends with him and even played in a band together for a time! I'll have to research the gent's name! They had a page on him i saw somewhere looking for stuff on my neph and HOF! He told me about him last time HOF came to Detroit and we got together! I'll get back!

  • 13th Floor Elevators - Your Gonna Miss Me !!!!!

  • GREASY.....NASTY...!!!!!

  • google search your vs. you're

  • The jug is the bomb.

  • 1970's punk was basically taking 60's songs like this (garage rock) and playing them faster and rougher!

  • @nickypliers To my recollection it was The Ramones and then The Sex Pistols, they did their own stuff.

  • I use to see the elevators play in Taylor Hall, Pasadena, Texand a few other small dance clubs in Texas & The Long Shoremans Hall in S.F.when I moved back to Calif. in 67`. I thought Rocy was kinda the head of the elevators but he got spun out on pyschadelics. Friend`s of mine in Austin said the the band found him in his mothers back yard building a space ship to return home after he disappeared with money from a gig.

  • GREAT SONG!

  • Roky's years in the asylum must have convinced him that the electric jug causes insanity! Glad to hear he is functioning again 40 years later!

  • hell yeah

  • lip sinc at its worst!!!!! great phyco slop

  • I just found out that the guitarist Stacy Sutherland, is burred in my home towns cemetery.

  • I am missing you

  • Originals indeed!

  • i have never met any1 who has even heard of 13th floors, 603,909 views makes me feel well better that this class isnt bein fogoten

  • @mickskaful A gentle word of advice: If noone you know knows the Elevators, you got to be more picky about the company you keep! Must admit though I'm pleasantly surprised, in fact staggered, at the number of hits.

  • Praise your lord roky and johnny are "still alive and kind of well"...

  • it really should be "you're"

    not just because of grammar

but because that's what the song's called.

  • *YOU'RE gonna miss me. I hate to be a grammar Nazi but that's just plain ignorance.

  • @animegalc4 Well, like the Nazi's, you are (you're) very wrong too! The title is fine, it's your grammar that is psychedelicized! Love to you and peace!

  • @MrMichaellv are you a troll or something?

  • @MrMichaellv If you really want to make an ass out of yourself by correcting the errors of other posters, try to make sure that you don't make them, either. Your statement should read as:

"Well, like the Nazis, you are very wrong, too! The title is fine; it's your grammar that is pscyhedelicized! Love to you, and peace!"

They're called commas and semicolons; use them. Love to you, and peace.

  • @ 1questionable - Not 100% sure, but I think some of them became ZZ Top

  • @MrBaldrick1962 they did not become zztop

  • @MrBaldrick1962 billy gibbons was in the Moving Sidewalks not the 13th Floor elevators
