@mr22otters Get the 2500, the 5000 is the professional one and you shouldnt really just go buy the big expensive stuff first. Also yes MPCs can make beats for any type of music let it be trance, house or hip-hop/rap.
I know this was your first mpc, but have you owned any other drum machine before? (i.e., Roland MV8800 or 8000). I'm thinking about copping one soon. I have a NI Maschine and I highly recommend one for you because it is extremely fast when it comes to laying down your creativity. I'm copping the 5000 because there are some things that the Maschine cannot do that the 5000 (or 2500 and 1000) can do like time-stretch.
@RobYungTV The bugs in the 5000 are overhyped. Most users won't notice or experience them. This happens EVERY time the flagship model MPC is unaffordable to most prospective buyers. If you want to see real bugs, get a 4000. That trash will never be fixed. It's discontinued junk that never worked and was rushed to market around year 2000 when world economies were crashing.

24bit vs 16bit? .. its really a 3500. 4000 is the real monster.. people don't like it because of its learning curve over the 5000 shit .. u can actually use a certain type of laptop memory for the upgrade. check out a vid by christianaffiliate the vid is on the 1000 but maybe it will work for the 5000
yo yu shoulda kept yur daw programs with midi controllerr mpd 32, cause only thing your gettin different with tha mpc 5000 is the sequencer. I mean yu spent money you didnt have to spend ur beats were already pretty good, its all in skill and your head..
