I would love to have seen cel animation for all the video scenes, and to hear the original voices instead of newer recordings. Other than that, though, the storytelling is phenomenal here. And all the sculptures are excellent.
I've never been to anything Disney. I'm a theatrical person, big on spectacle. And I literally almost cried watching this. It's just so freaking cool!!
@MsTreasure31 i am so happy i found someone on here who agrees! this one is fairly good but they deleted the most important part of the ride, the defeat of ursula. that is my major complaint about this version of the ride. but the figures are AMAZING!!! props to the disney imangineers for pushing the technology at least...
@CaptianMarauderChick Yes!It was amazing how it would light up and you can see her skeleton.Though it might have been a little scary for kids. Also, the "Kiss the Girl" scene when you see the two eels. Now I know that I have something in common with people.
@MsTreasure31 it would of fit perfectly scary wise with the Snow White and Pinocchio dark rides so it wouldn't have been too scary since no one really complains about those two...
@MsTreasure31 yup. it is cool they finally came up with a good effect to take riders under the sea. i wish they didn't use CGI in the ride however. they could of used regular animation. its not that hard to draw her...
It looks so nice! In germany, we have a ride like this and at the and of the ride a Voice says "Euer Abenteuer Nähert sich dem Ende. Wenn sich eure Ricksha öffnet, so steigt zur Linken Seite aus. Doch Vorsicht! Die Ricksha hält nicht an! Your adventure nears its end. If your Safety Bar opens, exit to the left side. But beware! The Rickshaw don´t Stop!"
-While the ride is good, they could've had the scene where Ursula dies. Instead of the little cut-out xD But a good ride either way. Can't wait for WDW's opening. Definitely riding ^___________^
@LooLolaLoo Yeahhh. But Disney does have those "Ride Content is frightening for children" advisories. One of those would be useful is they kept the original ride so then the parents wouldn't take their little children on the ride & then us big kids could enjoy it ^_________^
@JoesGF4ever But kids LOVE The Little Mermaid... at least I knew I did! They had to soften it up a bit, I guess, because I'm sure a lot of people would have been freaked out (including me!) about by a Huge Ursula right next to them and flickering lights trying to take over the sea LOL :)
@JoesGF4ever LOL, even wen I watched the animated preview of the ride on my Lil' Mermaid DVD, I ran into the washroom every time the Ursula part came on!
@disneylandx123 The Imagineers planned this preview if the guests at Disney's California Adventure in the Disneyland Resort will love the attraction, so they can put some lightning during the scene of Ursula's Demise and I think they need to dim the lights during the scene Part of your World.

If you have the combo pack of Little Mermaid, they did a digital ride, which was much better than this one,to be honest.

piperandleoxx4 9 months ago
@piperandleoxx4 I can't agree on the animation vs. animatronics point.
By looking at the videos, it appears to me that the ride actually has more animatronics than animation.
