Saw this in 1979 with Mom and Little Brother. Heart Wrenching. Kermit seemed to have a soul all his own. TRIVIA: Jim Henson spent an entire day in a 50-gallon steel drum submerged in a pond for the opening scene of Kermit in the swamp.

What I loved about the Muppets is that they treated kids with respect. The humour worked for both adults and kids. The later Disney-owned/produced stuff has - unfortunately - been quite idiotic. I'm not convinced the new Muppet movie is going to be much cop - but I'll reserve final judgement until I see it.
