yah, not in favor of piracy, but im tired of all the anti-piracy "campaigns".... most of the results that are posted as "losses" to the industry are fake and rigged. In all actuality, companies are making more than ever by sellig their media and software. dont give all this crap.
"Worldwide motion picture industry lost 18.2 billion because of piracy" - No they didn't. People weren't going to pay for them in the first place.
"6/10 Movies never recoup their original investment" - Well with the proportion of crap movies to great ones is ridiculous (how movies like The Hottie and the Nottie even get greenlighted is beyond me), and cinema tickets are expensive, it's no wonder why. Good movies still make money, just look at Iron Man grossing $100 million in its first week.
I laugh that you list industry losses as an argument against piracy when I use it as my main motivation to pirate all I can.
I find it pretty sickening that anyone can argue against sharing things with their fellow human beings and in favour of lining the pockets of already rich shareholders who contribute nothing to the end product or to the community in general.
If more media was produced simply by cooperation of those directly involved in its production then I would be more likely pay for it
So, I was having lunch with this girl today, and she tells me about this sexual escapade she had the other night. It involved her and some guy going up on top of a building under construction on campus and balling like the last apes on earth. For some reason, it made me really uncomfortable. I soon figured out that it was jealousy. Not so much that she's balling some other guy, but that my sex life has been null for months. I don't want to just hear about the greatest sex ever. Oh. Lame video.
good god that was awful. totally unprofessional, not to mention inaccurate. 6 out of 10 movies lose money? id guess those 6 were instant classics too huh?
My intent was not to target the makers of the video; I'm a Wildcat myself. Why erase the comment? My comment was not offensive, nor was it completely false. Masses in the entertainment world stuck in mediocrity was my point. My point was that people buy tunes at a time from iTunes because it's smart; there isn't a flood of good albums out there. People don't pirate simply because it's EASY. There's obviously a moral barrier they can rationally justify with lack of quality as their prime example.
Very one-sided. Who were the tools that made this, and how much did they get paid? I know they might want to get into the Film industry but is kissing the MPAA's ass really necessary?
Most independent studies have shown a very different picture...
The movies that don't recoup their costs are the crappy ones. All the big popular movies that get downloaded make plenty of profit. Hollywood needs to quit making crappy movies.
The MPAA/RIAA could get with the times and come to the realization that the digital medium is here to stay, instead of trying to hang on to traditional methods of distribution. The smartest thing that the MPAA/RIAA could do RIGHT NOW is to give OiNK a job.
Maybe a huge monetary loss in the music and movie industry is a sign they should bump up the originality. How long have we settled with a I, V, vi, IV chord change or a predictable plot? As albums become more saturated with good, original music, the more willing people will become to support them. As it is, albums are like a bowl full of milk with about three Cheerios that you really care to eat. Who wants to buy that?
They pulled that number out of their ass! They're not losing ANYTHING! I surmise that people who download don't have the money to buy these movies and music in the first place. Therefore, they lose nothing. Fucking liars!

If illegally downloading music stops singers like that from opening their mouths, I consider it my civic duty to download as much as I can

Seriously? If you are gonna make an Anti-Piracy video, at least make it good.
This video fails on every level. Once a pirate, always a pirate. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

I'm a musician and I let people listen to my music for free. I can still make music. Piracy helps musicians. Fuck the record labels.
