  • Standard tuning I would assume

  • @5till12 Tuning is EbADGBE with capo on strings 1-5 on fret 3.

  • Where would YOU start learning this cat's tunes....probably this one.

  • @5till12 Thats exactly what I did!! One down...ummm...crap...im screwed :-\

  • favorite song by far Mr Dufour!!!

  • this is great music, but i can't believe you would sell the tabs, that's just messed up. that should be free.

  • @zaidableezy Not like anyone will be able to play them lol

  • @zaidableezy really? You cant believe he would sell the tabs? I suppose you probably thing people who write books should give them away too? Or painters should probably just hand their work out on the street? If you can tab this piece out yourself, more power too you...otherwise support Antoine and buy the tabs...sheesh...Its like 5 bucks AND you get a legit MP3 of the song.

  • i love all antoine dufour's music... this one is really touched my heart...

    Respect Sir Dufour...! :)

  • All of the Candy Rat label, Isaac Shepard, Erik Mongrain, Thomas Bergersen, all the other that truly know what music is, they are all a Glimmer of Hope, a light in the darkness that is modern media, a place in the green Northern Pastures. They are my heroes, they gave me a reason to love music, and I thank them for that. They will all be given a place in history as the people who saved our youth from the horrors of Gaga, Beiber, and all the other BS fame-hogs that claim to create "music".

  • ANTOINE DUFOUR is indeed an excellent guitarist and I can say that he is one hell of a musician... however, there is one thing I saw in him which maybe you guys havent notice it yet .... DAMN!!!! He really looks like, FREDDIE ROACH!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

  • WTF? :27

  • @Fiskarrr I don't get it either...this is great ! Trolls and punks just trying to get '' a rise'' :(

  • Antoine, I have one question: Are you a wizard?

  • So beautiful. Why doesn't he make melodies like this anymore? :(

  • This is a song that i could listen to and know that everything is allright, no matter what the emotions or feelings that i have are, i could listen to this song on replay on a hammock feeling the breeze on a 70ºF go through my hair, Antoine this is truly beautiful

  • @TheSuperdude247 I totally agree with you, good sir.

  • @TheSuperdude247 IT stops the strings ringing above the nut when the guitar is strummed hard, then muted. The bandana dampens the ringing :)

  • perfection.

  • antoine is such a babe

  • 40 people are cripps and saw the red bandana.

  • this guy makes me so angry cos every video of him im pushing the thumbs up button n now my hand hurts!! dam you!!

  • The first 3 seconds put a smile on my face. The first 5 seconds told me what song I need to learn now. The next 20 minutes was spent listening to this over and over. Love this song. Thank you very much.

  • Candyrat records's guitarists make my day. Over, and over again...

I thank you for that. Keep on playing and composing new songs :)

  • his new album is out May 24th

  • How does he do the artificial harmonic at 0:29?

  • Comment removed

  • @lbkiml its called a pinch harmonic ( i think?)....you just take your index finger( of your pick hand ) and put it over the fret harmonic you want to use and pluck it with your thumb( also with your pick hand) or whatever finger you prefer...hope this helps

  • @ensomniiac i think thats called a touch harmonic, pinch harmonics are something different (more of an electric guitar technique)

  • @lbkiml Believe it or not, those aren't artificial O: they're natural harmonics. They're the harmonis for 5th, 7th, and 12th fret (i have the tabs..) he was just holding down the next position, and used his...oh. ensomniiac already explained it. Read his reply, it explains xD but they are natural harmonics, just so u know..

  • Dufour is one of my main inspirations!! I just put up a video of me playing some of my own songs. Check it out if want . All acoustic ofcourse, This song i used as inspiration for the third song. i play. there

  • I'm getting bad reception on this good music! Verizon, what the hell are you doing?

  • 40 people didn't like this because they couldn't figure out how to play it. Antoine is amazing.

  • these songs are so worth having to change your tunning each time you want to play one, but it gets old XP

anyone know of some good ones from this guy that are standard or close to such as just a drop D tunning.

  • @ZacVrono

No Name For Love and Passage are standard tunings. Go onto google and search after "antoine dufour eadghe tuning song" and you'll find a complete list on the andymckee forum.

  • 40 people are assholes

  • guitar virtuoso!!

  • Mr. Dufour, this is my favorite song title. You (the entire Candyrat label) really are a glimmer of hope in this world of what we call "music" now a days. Thank you sir.

  • @grygrskls Can't forget Don Ross and Andy McKee...you can't say they don't make up part of Candyrat. I feel like all those guys are on the same level...like, they've reached the top. They can't go any higher. They are Gods..

  • EPIC he is so talented

  • His superior technique and sound get my everytime...

  • Szatynkaa20: zaiste, rewelacyjny gość :) ; I really liked the sentence that you could hear his soul through the guitar. I've never thought about it in this way but the concept seems so right to consider a guitar as a tool that triggers out and enables soul's energy to explode and reveal it's might and beauty. Nice way of thinking about guitar in general :)

  • Amazing how much feeling can gush out from that bit of wood when Antione gets his hands on it <3

  • Im not the one to be all like "OMG 40 PEOPLE MISSED THE LIKE BUTTON", but seriously, how could you NOT like this song?

  • Rewelacyjny gość:D

  • at 2:24 u can her a mellody a little simular to song for stephen i just love this artist. You can hear his soul through the guitar.

  • I saw him in concert last night; he caresses the guitar and makes it sing like no one else I've seen. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

  • chilling and sober music I can chill out to after a long day.

  • to anyone here that listens to the bleach OST, the 2nd one to be exact, doesn't this sound like a funkier version of "swan song"?

    both great songs

  • Got Hope?

  • Beautiful melody.

  • fucking beautiful man this is the greatness of you tube you discover talented musician like Antoine,Andy and countless others Eargasim

  • @Fiskarrr jajajajajaa!

  • @Fiskarrr its after downloading the tabs and cant being able to play even the first line.

  • @Fiskarrr I like that you employ both the words hell and heck.

  • @Fiskarrr Correction. Whoever put 40 dislikes: what the heck WEREN'T they smoking?

  • @Fiskarrr Obviously NOT Pot Cuz i'm lovin this ;)

  • @Fiskarrr

  • @PandoraRonin The awesomeness of this song obviously disoriented 40 people resulting in them missing the like button.

  • @Fiskarrr obviously the wrong plant.

  • @Fiskarrr what of it is to make them think like that...well lets just say i want what ever it is

  • @Fiskarrr Not crack.

  • Comment removed

  • @Fiskarrr Nothing, they just don't know what music is!

  • @Fiskarrr not weed

  • @Fiskarrr they were at least drunk, not stoned

  • @Fiskarrr as the government would say " a pot head"

  • @Fiskarrr It's good to see that since you posted a year ago, nobody else has disliked this video.

  • @Fiskarrr Obviously not weed..because this shit is AMAZING when you're high.

  • As usual brilliant stuff from Antoine, can't believe all his videos haven't hit 1 mil hits yet.

  • What can i say, accustic guitar's are beautiful instruments. God himself is crying out he's happyness

  • At the last second it seems he cries :')

  • does sort of give me hope.

  • perfect song to listen to when im taking a break from studying for finals.

the vibe is...ugh....peaceful just like everyone else says

    antoine-sama....you dah man

  • probly my favorite song of his

  • still one of the most amazing songs ever.

  • damn...gotta be so talented to just be able to sit down in front of a mic and play one of these songs all the way through, without missing 1/1000 harmonics...too perfect!

  • dude, thanks for posting your music...i need something like this to calm my nerves

  • I see the record label offers Tabs for this. Like that would help.

  • There is no hope of me being able to play this anytime soon, thats for sure, :P

  • Almost speechless, beautiful...

  • beautiful

  • Really enjoy His work.

  • I like playing it with the capo on the 2nd fret and the E tuned down one more fret.

  • Just out of curiosity: Is there anyone who can tell me what kind of guitar that is and what kind of strings there are on his guitar? Thanks!

  • @fritskezowittenie, if you check out his videos, you should find one, or two where he tells us about that stuff. I think this guitar is a StoneBridge.

  • @fritskezowittenie and I believe he uses Elixir strings.

  • @fritskezowittenie Phosphor Bronze - Medium gauge Elixir strings :)

and the guitar is a Stonebridge 23CR (Cedar Top - Rosewood back and sides I believe..) :P

  • I associate this song with a lot of good car journeys =)

  • dope :D epic relaxation song ^^

  • does anyone know what harmonics he plays at 0:30? The tab off ultimate-guitar says 12,12,12 fret but it doesnt sound quite right..

  • @psychoplast I think because he has a partial capo on the third fret, it would be 15, 15, 15...

  • @iwishiwasafish123

oh yeah well thats what i meant. but still, the pitch of the harmonics are still different than his...

  • @psychoplast it wud be 15's cuz of the partial capo.

  • due, if you gave ur left hand how could you play guitar lol

  • man....i'd give my left hand to be able to play like.....never mind!! lol This guy is amazing!!

  • haha. that's good. you need a rimshot from a drum set on that one.

  • Did you record that using an m-audio interface?

  • Love this one, just learned it for myself!

  • in case anyone was wondering, because i was, that guitar is a stonebridge 23 cr g-c not sure if its a grand auditorium or orchestra size.

  • thanks, i was wondering myself. Antoine is one of my favs. him and Phil Keaggy

  • Im pretty sure its the grand auditorium! I just put a down payment on one... should arrive in May!!!

  • he has said they help with the slap harmonics in one of the Q&A videos around here

  • how do they right this stuff? what influences or kind of training have these guys had? is there a reason he play with rings? does it help with harmonics? or just cuz he likes rings? i was watching a zack wylde video early and he said thats why he uses him. awesome

  • You can find who they say their influences are, classically trained guys and some similar artists. But this guy just has something special, I like him a lot more than a lot of "similar artists" because his compositions are deeep!

  • I remember playing almost the exact same tune long before i even heard of him and remember hearing those high harmonics in my head but had no idea how to create them on the guitar and everything i played was always the wrong pitch... XD

  • Crazy! Deaam ,so clean! Keep it up!

  • this is so peaceful sounding....

  • @mir46dis ...His songs are like an open book with no words...Just waiting for people to add them for themselves.

  • to bobacolle, who will probably never see this message (lol) that right hand harmonic technique is called artificial harmonics!

  • Ooooo.... that 'shing' sound, which I'm assuming was accidental, was amazing.

    0:30

    phew.

  • nah, just harmonics =)

  • haha I'm not ignorant. I use harmonics. But that shing was NOT a harmonic :]

and didn't happen the other times he played that part.

It sounds like his thumb pick or nail, lightly touched one of the vibrating strings.

    ^-^

  • He actualy does the same thing at 1:03

Thats harmonics, and not a mistake. I dont know what kind of harmonics they are, but you just have to slightly touch the string with your index from the right hand while you are picking the note. And as for every harmonic, you have to find the right spot with your index so it sounds clear.

Play an open string, and just slightly tap the 12 frets (tap RIGHT on the metal piece) on the same string, it kinda gives the same effects.

  • Ugh.. you people aren't listening.. or maybe I'm not explaining...

I DO THOSE... I know what I'm talking about and I know what I heard.. I play everything by ear.

if you guys can't hear it.. I dunno what to tell you..

I play Mombasa - Tommy E. and end it with an E2 chord and finger harmonics.

Also I DIDN'T say it was a mistake. I said he might've done it by accident. And it was an amazing accident. It's a very metallic 'shring'. Like a nail touch lightly on a vibrating string.

  • Ok I think I hear it. On the very first harmonic or right before, there is a metallic sound.

    I think i get it =P

  • haha.. oh man thank you soo muchhhh!

*high five* thought I was going crazyyy

  • Hahaha xD I thought you were too =P

  • hahaha ^-^

  • @VWingTMA I'm pretty sure its one of two things 1. fret buzz 2. His ring brushing against the string

  • Yeah that's what I was thinking. Mm.. I wouldn't think fret buzz... but it very well could be I suppose :]]

  • what he's doing at 1:03 is called "harp harmonics" it's the most similar technique to natural harmonics, except if you choose to, you can move a chord or pattern around on the fret board, and wherever you move your finger the natural harmonic moves up frets of the same value of the string held, then you take your thumb and rest your index finger on the string where the harmonic is and you pluck with your thumb, leaving your index to catch the ring off the string, creating a natural harmonic.

  • thanks for the description, never heard of it b4, u learn s't new everyday...

  • its called a harmonic. it was on purpose

  • This argument is done. And sir, you fail. You obviously don't hear it.

Don't immediately think I'm ignorant to guitar. I know what I'm talking about. G'day.

  • Woww... surprisingly I hear what your talking about lol I thought you were an idiot but you're right. There is like a "shing" sound.. almost like a cymbal or something.

  • You're completely right. What you're talking about isn't a harmonic. I hear what you hear, and it does sound like an accident. But as you stated, it sounds sexy. Lul, what is a harmonic? haha rly? We know what a harmonic is, and that wasn't a harmonic. It's the sound right before the harmonics at :30.

  • THANKYOU. whew... I don't know how those guys weren't and one isn't hearing it. haha =)

  • Wow this is really amazing, I'm completely blown away

  • Well...i guess it started with keith Richards about 200 years ago and then.........

i love the guitar..piano is for softies...

  • yea right !

  • I'm not so sure about that statement and consider it uninformed.

    :D

  • Effing LOL @ Keith Richards immortality joke =]

  • love this one. a little less funky than a lot of stuff. very delicious in a mellow way.

  • ...or very mellow in a delicious way :P

  • who did u look up to as a kid?

  • Simply .................. Amazing

  • niesamowite...
