  • it looks like a riceball with u were makeing a tirangle :3

  • hello kitty band-aid ^_^

  • hehe it's funny when u say "i don't have more cuz i suck"

  • @meandrousart

Thanks for the great tutorial! My friend bought a pair of ears like this at our local Renaissance fair, but now I can make some like hers by myself!

Also I have a suggestion on your razor blade being too short to cut through all at once. Use a length of thin wire to cut through it! YAY! That's what I use to cut my clay in half to check for air bubbles :D

  • LOL! "I only have these three cause i suck" You're cute. This is a great tutorial

  • Is it safe to put it in the microwave when I want to heat it up? ^^

  • I like your HelloKitty bandaid! Hope you recover from your Boo-Boo soon! :)

  • could i use fimo to do this kind of "work"?

  • I love this so much! Where did you get the clay you used and how much was it? Please? c:

  • hello kitty bandaid!!!!! =^.^=

  • Go pick up a cat...and look at it. <3 That made my entire day.

  • hello kitty cure :D

  • whats the beginning song called?? i always wanna find that song but i never can!

  • XD "It'll look like shit-stuff...stuff...gross stuff"

    XD

  • i notice the band aid on your finger D: hope you got better soon :P

  • Both of them would look funny sitting on your head xD I thought that was the point!

  • wire works really good, too, for cutting clay :3! Still have to be careful not to cut yourself, but it'll be a clean-cut, and faster~

  • Would it be a good idea to glue fuzzy fabric over instead of painting over it?

  • excellent! these ears are so gorgeous!

  • love the s**t part and im doing them 4 sure, nice

  • my english ist'n that good... whats the firs mateerial?

  • Lol "I only have these three cause I suck."

You don't suck I love your tutorials!

  • Its funny because I did this exact same thing a few years ago, except some of the steps could be skipped :)

  • So cute. I love your tutorials.

  • GO PICK UP A CAT AND LOOK AT IT! lol! best advice yet!

  • @kitsunefox95 Sweet. n.n

  • Do you know how to make cat ears out of flexible craft foam and an elastic headband???

  • @popnoyt1 I don't know, I suppose so, but I'd worry that craft foam would look a little crazy in a bad way. These clay ones are already weird looking enough XD

  • Lovely!! *-*! i have to use this in halloween n_n

Mmmm i have a question... What program are you using to edit the video?

I would highly appreciate you answered!!!

    5 stars!

  • Sure, no problem. I'm using the iMovie HD that came with my laptop. It gets the job done. :D

  • this would be a good way to make lucy's horns from elfed lied :)

  • Good on you for trying it for yourself! That's really cool. You know, as I"m sure you can guess, artsy and craftsy things just sometimes take some practice. If you make a few more pairs, you'll get the knack. Just give away your practice ones to friends, maybe. The type of thing I love to make the most are nature looking wire ear wraps and I've been making them and practicing for nearly 5 years now and it really is true what they say about practice making perfect. Even my ears need practice. XD

  • s word!!!!

  • Yeah, whoops. Wash your ears out. I don't really swear anymore these days but there's no help for these old videos.

  • "Go pick up a cat..and you know, look at it."

    YOUR SO FREAKING CUTE XD

    anyway, great walk through :)

  • Uh XD Hee. Yay n...n;;

  • Hello Kitty band aid=TOTAL WIN!

  • does self hardening clay work as well? i couldn't find baking clay TT^TT

  • Sure. Any substance that holds a form that you like is suitable. Fabric, clay, foam... self hardening or baking or what not doesn't really matter. Just take into consideration how the medium reacts after it's hard. If it's fragile or crushable, you may want to choose something else.

  • What type of clay? And does it have directions on the back of the box?

  • Yup, they'll all have directions. This is bake to harden polymer clay.

  • lol shit stuff

  • The clay can be purchased from arts and crafts stores, but if you want names.. I'd suggest Pearl Paint or (where i usually go) Utrecht Art store. Polymer clay also comes in a variety of colors, so if you want colorful ears, just buy the colored ones.

  • Love the opening, I have tons of youtubes on my tabs I quickly close those ones to listen to this opening. XD

  • XD Sweet! I always wondered if it was annoying or not... Now I know, so says the strawberry and the two thumbs up. n...n

  • what store can you get the clay

  • you can probobly get it at an art supply store..

  • ooo i dig the hello kitty bandaid pretty sweet dude

  • Hello Kitty thinks YOU'RE pretty sweet.

  • i made the ears for a loveless cosplay and they turned out really cool. i tourtured my friends by not telling them hoe i made them! muhahahaha!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol <3

  • you rule!thank you soooooo much! i have to make cat ears too now.i'm so happy!

  • Do you sell them?

  • Please Write me back and tell me where you got the clay!!!

  • Any art supply or possibly a fabric store. Just ask the clerk if you're confused. Ask for "polymer clay".

  • *____* This is way too interesting man.

  • where do you get the clay stuff? o.O"

  • Art store!!!

  • Lol. What you said, all the way.

  • tha opening reminded me of tha opening fer monsters inc. xD idk yyy haha x] but i LOVE this! meh bf's been wantin some kitty ears [: so now i can make em fer hemm yeyy =^-^= but how long do we cook em fer? pllzz tell :3

  • Sorry for the long delay. : D I was away on maternity leave. You bake it for as long as the package says to. It will give you a temperature and how many minutes to cook it for in reference to how thick your piece is. <3 Good luck!

  • I might try and make some of these looks fun and since I like cosplaying I might try and do a Nyu or lucy cosplay ^-^

  • you can probably make nyu ears with this

  • I loved the opening. xD

  • Thanks for this Tutorial, I used it to make my friends ears for her Cosplay and they turned out great!

  • Thank you so much. n_n! I'll use your tutorial for my ears. :3

  • Cool. n...n glad.

  • I like your band-aid

  • My band-aid likes you. <3

  • OH my god! This help me so much! I shall be using this to make my own cat ears and horn for my Lucy cosplay~! Thank you so much! <333

  • Well, glad it helps. Will you post pictures or a video in response to this so I can see?

  • I'm making a pair right now. I just so happened to have all the materials on hand so I was like "why not give it a go." It's hard for me to get all the lumps out though. I have a nice shape, but it cant seem to smooth it out. are your super smooth when you finish? maybe I can sand them after I bake them?

  • I know some polymers are sandable. That could get the lumps out so they look completely smooth. I finger smooth mine, so they're not exactly perfect. I think the pair in this video could be a little smoother. It takes some patience to do it by hand, but I find it more relaxing. The thing is that when you wear them, you probably won't notice some small flaws, but to be perfect, do sand. n...n

  • YAY ! im going as a neko L!! Thnx 4 the help!! @ arrmagendedon melbourne 2008

  • have fun!

  • thank you so much! i've been trying to find patterns to make ears for my neko costume!

    -meow!- lol

  • Well, very cool then! <3

  • Personally i like fabric ears but this is new for me and it looks really cool.

  • Fabric ears would probably be a lot lighter than bake polymer clay! Glad you like it. Have fun!

  • can u make diclonus horns that look like cat ears?

  • Not sure what you mean 'diclonus' horns. It really doesn't matter. It's clay, you can make whatever you want. :)

  • diclonius is a person born with pink hair and cat ears on there head .

  • Yeaaaaah. XD okay. And there's a specific term for that?

  • yes watch elfen lied thene u'll know what im talking about.

  • Oh, I guess I saw that. A long while ago, but yeah. Anyway, it's not like clay only forms into cat ears. But that'd be funny if it did. Like it refused to form anything else. Okay. Just talking weird now.

  • ohok. go on my deviant art page my user name is tinapixiedust. i photo shoped a pick of me into a diclonius and i got horns now.

no ur not weired ur kool .

  • I checked it out. :)

  • thanks . do u like my horns?

  • must....make.....kitty....ears!! (im not saying that i've done it before XD)

Great video, thnx for the upload!

  • XD GEEK!

Oh... u...u Sorry. XD Just teasing. Actually, that's great. n.n I'd like to see your kitty ears. Do show! I command.

  • well... i.. eh.. i'd really like to do kitty ears... but i cant find the right material! D: *sob* X3

  • i know the Problem ^^'

Nice name By the way 0_o

  • I've seen some people use something like, what is it, furniture foam? Upholstery foam? It's something like that. Also, a lighter polymer clay like Lumina dries by air and is slightly flexible. You color it by mixing in paint and would weigh little enough that you could wear them on clips easily. A foam clay like Hearty would probably give you a more suede-like surface, but might get damaged easily. They'd look a lot more cartoony though.

  • umm what kins of clay are good for this?

i mean is it only that one kind or others?

  • There are all kinds of clays. I'm using a baking polymer clay, but polymer and natural clays have all kinds of properties and it's up to you to decide what suits your tastes best.

I'm not trying to promote any brands, but if you pause the video while I'm panning over the supplies, you'll see what kind I'm using and can look for it, yourself.

  • k thanks!

  • you really remind me of my friend oXbutterfkyXo kisses for some reason...o0 thanks for putting the tutorial up^-^

  • Bleh I can't type today oXbutterflykissesXo

  • Oh, really? Um... I try?

You're welcome. Happy making things! :3

  • ^-^ lol

  • man i would ttly wear those ears out in public on a regular day! of course that just me im gothic.with some black paint and white fine details that would look so sinister

  • It'd look pretty awesome, man. XD Go for it.

  • Fantastic! ^^ I am so excited to make these!thank you for posting such a wonderful tutorial!

  • Yay! That'll be cool! You should upload a video of your ears when you're done. <3

  • woww nice thx O.o do you have a hello kitty bandaid?

  • Yup. XD I sure do. <3 I had a paper cut that I split open when I was trying to knead the clay. ;...;

  • If you wore latex gloves (can be bought almost ANYWHERE) you wouldn't have to waste time rubbing finger prints out.

    Just a quick tip.

  • Ah, I do wear latex gloves when I work with colored clay! It is a great tip! Fingerprints can be a real bummer, but sometimes texture (other than fingerprints) can really make a project, don't you think?

I was more concerned with large finger impressions, from actually molding the clay than the small fingerprint ridges, as I notice the thick paint seems to cover up those prints- but yes, again, latex gloves are a wonderful tool! Thanks for watching!

  • Yay! Ears!

I love the new theme song video montage in the beginning. The jazzy klezmer music is so so cute!

  • XDD weet. It totally made me giggle. Some of the other songs I was considering were sooOOooooo serious. x...x just not me!

Good to talk to you again, you cutey!!

  • Aw, thanks! *beeps yr nose!*

  • Would a piece of thin wire cut through well?

  • Don't be smart with me, OckGal! It's like you want me to not bruise up my fingers on utility blades! Use a piece of thin wire... pssssh.

Yeah, actually. <3 I think it probably would! Why didn't I think of that? I have clay tools, ordinarily... but in a situation where I don't have access to them, a piece of thin wire would have probably done a better (and safer) job. I'll do that next time. n...n

  • I know, what was I thinking? I WANT to see more Hello Kitty Band-Aids. I should be encouraging sharp object usage, bwuahaha!

I hear a pick ax is good for tiny details. *evil grin*

  • This is me snickering at home. : )

  • loved this !!! ohhhhh no where is part 2?

made the horns over the weekend cannot wait to wear them to work (2nd grade teacher) will love to make this for a co worker <3

  • I uploaded part 2 first so that they'd show up 'in order' in my video library <333 Just click on my channel link above and you can get it there. n...n

A teacher, huh?? That's so cool! I'd love to see a picture!

  • Oh, and just thinking-- second grade? Maybe they're old enough you could bend them to your will and force them to make their own for a Halloween project! D: GASP!

    <333 I love doing crafts with kids. ;...;

  • "It'll look like...shit..stuff..." XD Hello Kitty bandaid!

  • Yessss, yes, once upon a time I was a huge Kitty fiend. People still get me Kitty gifts- like HK bandaids. n...n;
