what google sketchup is that because my one only has tools at the top whiles yours has loads of tools on the top and on the left tell me link for download of your one plz
at first I thought you were done and I was like "meh..." then you did that texture magic and all the sudden my face was O_O! that was awesome, how did you do that? cause I hate texturing in Sketchup
@CoffeeStained Hey great video, I was wondering if theres a way to use the buildings made in google sketch up to put in comics, because drawing buildings is complex, so this would make things much easier. Also, would the be a way to integrate them into an animation as well, but only after being rendered from one point of view so it isnt 3d? I know this is a lot, are there videos that help with this?
@Zofnok There absolutely is, and in fact, Sketchup is a very popular tool for comic artists. Myself, I print out Sketchup models at the size I want on my page, simply because I like to have a fully done, real-life page of art. However, it is much easier to just save Sketchup models as .jpgs, and inserting them digitally into scanned art. Also, if you get an app to convert .skp to .obj, you can insert the actual model into apps like Manga Studio.
@galahad49 You can save the sketchup files as different formats and then import them into other programs. I'm pretty sure they can be exported to 3Ds Max, and they can be saved as dfx files which you can import into almost every CAD program.
I enjoyed the tutorial. I've imported a lot of SketchUp objects to my projects in Live Interior 3D. You can see some walkthroughs of my projects on my page.
I am assuming it can, I don't have MS EX4, but Sketchup Pro exports to .obj, which MS EX3 uses. That's actually my main use for this program, creating set pieces for manga to be imported into MS EX.
Sketchup does not have actual illumination options other than the sun, but it does have components that look like lights. For actual lighting, I use Kerkythea's plugins and renderer. I now use a Mac, but I think Kerkythea is available for the PC.
No, I'm not even sure what sketchucation is... *L* This is part of the standard software set, I'm not sure how people could miss it. There are people who create and piece together whole models in PhotoMatch, which is a little beyond what I am capable of.
Sketchup can export to Google Earth, but this particular model is not on the map, as I am not entirely sure where the pictured building is on our big green.
Oh. *L* I found a image on Google Image and used it with Google Sketchup to create a model, before uploading it to Google's YouTube, but I didn't make it available on Google Earth.
Sketchup is great for architecture, it's greatest asset is it's expandability, the ability to add new tools and functions. I've used it to calculate material for drywall jobs before.
By dragging the red and green perspective markers, you tell SketchUp what the axis is of the photo. You then drag the axis itself to the foremost part of the picture.
In the beginning, you used a set of tools I have never seen before, what were they? Do you think you could make a tutorial for using those tools? It would really help to get a much larger volume of models to Google Earth. If an average SketchUp user can get a good enough image, they could make really nice models of local buildings.
When you import a picture using PhotoMatch, the alignment tools are automatically activated to match the axis of your 3D world to the picture. These tools are not accessible outside of PhotoMatch. The tools themselves are very straightforward.
hey man how do you put the picture to the right perspective? i have sketchup and i dont have the tools that you use it at first... how do i activate it???
so what your sayng is i could take a photo of my house (for instance) and then make it into 3D??
LeonardoShaz 3 months ago
@LeonardoShaz Absolutely. In fact, there is a way to create a full 360 of your house by using multiple photos to stitch together geometry.

File>Import
Files of Type="All supported Image Types"
Check the radio box "Use as New Matched Photo"
or it might be called "Use as PhotoMatch", depending on your version.

I didn't mean that, but that was helpful. My question has been answered for me by another questioner. Thanks!
