  • We can argue day and night over this but at the end of the day it remains a private decision that neither you or me can take for someone else. It's as clear as that. Simply screaming "murder!!!" doesn't make it so. If it were murder, believe me, I wouldn't need convincing. And neither would the million of pro-choice women in this country who believe abortions need to remain safe, legal, accessible.

  • Again, I'll say this again and again and again. If men were having kids they wouldn't have any problems committing "murder" and "taking away a life" or whatever B.S. they want to say. Sure, a fertilized egg, MAYBE, will become after 9 months a baby. Sure. But it is not a human yet. And it is living in someone else's body. Surely that entitles that someone to make decisions about it.

  • It always makes one cringe when you hear anti-choicers talk about "life." Because the life of the pregnant woman is never factored in their anti-choice views. And it's not like most of them would actually campaign for improved economic conditions for women, or better childcare to help them. How about just trusting women? How about making sure they have a decent quality of life? How about not controlling their decisions?

  • Sure. Abortion was a crime after "quickening" (i.e.: when the woman could feel movement in her womb, usually after many weeks of gestation). Which would have made about 99% of abortions totally legal. And no, abortion was not criminalized because of "science" (after all science tells us that a fetus is not a child... we're not the anti-science around here and have nothign to fear from science) but because of anti-women currents of the 19th century.

  • @Skulander1 You still misunderstand the point of "quickening". That was the point in law when they could prove the baby was alive, not the point where it became a baby.

Call it fetus, zygote, "alien," child, kid, baby, why not full grown man while we're at it, uh? Why not grant it the right to vote and make it pay taxes. Point is, as long as it is in someone's body that someone is entitled to make decisions about this fact. Not you. Not me. Not the state. Not the church. Whether you like this or not.

    That human in development is, and will become, what we recognize as an individual. If you have an abortion, you end the development of that individual.

    We are not entitled to make decisions concerning the life or death of an individual human being. This would be disregarding the value of human life and the individual.

  • You obviously don't know legal history. Abortion was always a crime after quickening, which is when they baby started moving. It was not because this is when they thought the baby was a human being but when they knew it was actually alive. Abortion statutes were put on the books in the mid nineteenth century when through science they learned that we become living human beings from the moment of conception.

So that approach fails. Now say someone comes up to the very same person but uses any other multitude of reasons not to abort or how not to become pregnant in the first place (ie. fiscal reasons or social reasons without directly beating them over the head with the Bible).

  • Well let's say that a woman gets impregnated by a man who doesn't desire this child therefore he leaves. The woman has no choice so she keeps the child even though she cannot financially support herself or the child. The child will grow up without a father, in bad conditions, and will probably suffer a lot. Do you really want this to happen? Do you really want to destroy the life of both the mother and the child? Not even end it abruptly, but make both of them suffer?

Many of us have had abortions or been in the abortion industry. We are women and men. Young people are increasingly pro-life because they see themselves as abortion survivors.   • Human kind confuses and sometimes sickens me. To kill a unborn baby without a conscious that never developed enough to know or feel anything is apparently a abomination, but compare that to the masses of animal stock that is killed every day is justified.

    Never mind the actual parents view on the matter, who actually are more likely to not have money in order to bring up that child, or have issues over who the father is, meaning abortion is the better for the ones who are actually living.

  • This movie TELLS THE TRUTH. And it's not about God. For some maybe. But I'm not a Bible thumper and for me, it's about science and logic. TWO separate lives are affected by abortion. Plain & simple. There is now irrefutable and conclusive science to back that up. Sure, some will argue that, but the majority of scientists agree. Good enough for me and any thinking person who appreciates logic. Two sets of genetic markers. Two sets of DNA. Two lives. And one is torn apart or burned in the womb.

But when I learned TWO LIVES are affected, two unique individuals with two separate genetic make-ups and DNA --- and two beating hearts, I had to logically change my mind... and heart.   • Your reasoning is based entirely on the assumption that the unborn isn't human. Rape, being too young, etc., unless the mother will die giving birth, don't justify abortion. So much time is wasted on this debate. The one question you need to answer: What is the unborn? Is it human? If not why not? Four things you must consider. (1)Size (2)Level of Development (3)Environment (4)Dependency. A simple analysis of these attributes, you will see that there is no escape. Life begins at conception!

  • @mrhankie2025 I read a case that showed what happened when the law valued the fetus over the mother. The mother, who was in remission after battling cancer, got pregnant because the doctor allowed it. Unfortunately, the cancer came back and the only way to survive was to get an abortion. But the court forced her to deliver prematurely via c-section which resulted in the baby dying within 2 hours and the woman dying a few weeks after due to cancer. What do you have to say to that?

  • @TheHardout2005 It's not considered a human being until a certain time. If you get raped, would you not have an abortion? You would ruin your own future and the baby's future. The baby wouldn't have a father and you might not have the economy to support. Of course there should be rules about abortion, but I don't think that it's wrong. It shouldn't be used as a common thing instead of condoms, but as a regret or as safety. If you're not able to support the baby, it would be worse for both.

  • @morten325 Actually, it is considered human - which is quite irrelevant when you ask yourself if he/she is actually human, as opposed to what we believe about him/her. And an unborn child is *objectively* a human being. If you aren't familiar with objectivity, you'd be best to familiarise yourself with it because it's important, here.

    Now, do you consider the right to a certain quality of life to be greater than the right to life itself. Surely that defeats itself!

  • @morten325 CONT Now, if abortion is a good thing, and you aren't killing a human being, then why reduce the number of abortions at all? I say have as many as you want if you aren't killing a human! Unfortunately, knowing what I know (and I used to support abortion) that is not the case. My conscience will not allow me to support what has become (quite literally) genocide in Western society.

  • @TheHardout2005 Abortion shouldn't be used in the same way that we use comdoms, it should be used as a last resort. The fetus isn't considered a human being until a certain time. It's just a collection of cells. This video shows some extreme variant of abortion that is not reality. It's like calling every muslim a terrorist, when that's not reality. Are you a racist perhaps?

    Also, you didn't answer my question from before: is (potential) life quality more important than (actual) life? I should think that there could exist no other rights if the right to life did not first exist in order to provide a basis for them. Am I wrong here? Your thoughts, please.

  • @TheHardout2005 Life quality is more important, when what you're talking about is not concidered as actual life. It's not like you're "killing" an baby, but at a stage where nothing has really developed into a baby yet. Therefore your statement is invalid. How do kill something that's not alive yet. In the first 12 weeks of the pregnancy, when abortions are done, the "baby" is still considered an embryo. Embryo's are just a collection of cells, not life.

  • @morten325 Yeah I used to believe that, too. You don't have to call it a baby - but you do have to call it a human person. Because it is. Objectively. By saying it isn't considered a human you are obfuscating the issue, subjectively. This is science and therefore an objective issue.

    Life's quality is more important? But how can that be possible if it's based on life itself? It's self-contradictory.

    I need far more words for this... It is a human person, and it is living, and I can prove it.

That would compell us in the end to kill - or "interrupt the respiratory, heart and brain functions" of - individuals with cronical loss of the kidney function just so that we "spare" them having to go through dialisis 2 times a week; individuals with a major depression, with severe anxiety disorders; with cronic obstructive pulmonary disease; and examples go on and on...

    Unfortunately, no one seems to understand that rights must exist in a hierarchy - some are certainly more important than others. No one seems to realise that for rights to have any basis whatsoever, there mut first exist the right to exist!

I dont think abortion is an issue at all until i watched it and realised i have no understanding whasoever what abortion really is. i'm not against it or recommends, i've no say it is right or wrong but if u watch the documentary u'll see all these women, they weren't given a choice. they didnt say i chose to do it cos it think it was best, but they said, i had no choice. cos ignorant ppl like u,duno what it feels like.

  • let's not talk about the dead, the women who did abortion usually traumatised and felt guilty although they didnt say so. they get infections, caused infertility and so on. and about the baby, the dna of the tissue on first day is already a different individual than the mother's and if you study biology, all the genetics, gender had already been decided at this very moment and this life can goes on to death. it doesnt start after first trimester it start on day one. and it - is a baby.

  • Nope, I am saying that there are millions of children being molested, abused and starved here in our country. Why do we turn a blind eye to them and focus on trying to bring more poor souls into this world that will most likely end up in a similar situation! 

    Please focus your energy on helping the 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 year old children being abused daily. Once we have no more children being abused, then we can try to help the ones that are not born yet.

  • The biggest reason why abortion is so wrong is we dont know who the person being aborted will eventually come to be, God has many times sent us answers to our problems but we have aborted them this is why there is so much suffering in the world we are reaping from the sin we have sewn every individual is original no doubt we can see that by fingerprints and DNA so we have aborted the child who would grow to cure a disease etc

    We need better instruction of our youth in sex. We need to be positive role models. Can't change the future without working on the present.

  • Death as a fetus is preferable to years of abuse, beatings and the viscious cycle it encourages! One that is beating as a child will often end up beating his own child. If all the pro-lifers stopped focussing on aborted babies and instead focused on children in foster system, abusive situations... life would be much better for everyone!

  • How about we start by taking care of all of the children that are already born, save them from abusive parents, violence, rape, beatings, starvation.... once every child in this country is in a loving caring nurturing home, then I would agree we should start telling women who do not want their prenancy that we can take care of their baby for them! I know many women that have chosen abortion as a last resource because of the fear of the unknown ending for their baby.

  • Here's a new thought... I would not be here is my mom did NOT have an abortion! She had an abortion... then 5 months later she got pregnant with me and by then her life had settled and she was able to have me. She was also a terrible mother, beat the crap of me when I was young...this was a woman that was not meant to have babies!

  • I'm watching this movie now and I'm not moved. The argument against abortion is based on the preconceived notion that it's wrong no matter what and that therefor a "side-effect" of abortion is depression/suicide, the poorly thought out equivocation between eugenics and the fact that clinics are in minority neighborhoods (because conservatives suddenly care about black people so much), and the fact that some abortions have complications (as do all surgeries) and other crap. Not convincing.

    Pregnancy is normal and healthy? Are you aware that British Physicians have recently concluded that ABORTION is healthier and constitutes less long term health complications? You should do some research.

    And as for "men using women for their own pleasure" bullfuckery - that's called RAPE and abortion should most certainly be suggested in such situations.
