@JacobLego You have to finish the race at a certain time to unlock the staff ghost. I think it's at around 1.05 you can unlock it but the time has to be close to the ghost in order to unlock it.

This and Mario Circuit are by far the hardest staff ghosts to beat without snaking, especially using the same character/kart. I've beat him multiple times, but I don't think I've ever gotten below 1:01.

Get a perfect boost at the start and a single mini turbo can clear the shortcut easily. Then save the mushroom for lap 2 or 3.

Egg 1 is better, practice a little better and make sure not to go off road. You could barely keep up with the ghost at the beginning so that's a problem....
