  • Doesn't bother the young at all. Nestling bluebirds and tree swallows are routinely handled, weighed, banded, measured, etc., when they're small, as the young in these two nests were. However, when they get near fledging they shouldn't be approached or handled - doing so might cause them to leave the nest prematurely.

  • Tree Swallows prefer to line their nests with white feathers, and will go long distances to find them. However, some will also use a variety of other feathers, such as goose, duck and other waterfowl or wetland bird feathers, as the Tree Swallows in this video have..
