  • im still begging my parents to move back to new york city :'(

  • 0:20 does this part hve something to do with 9/11??

  • @alexeithemaker

0:20... What u mean? As a tribute to this wonderful city, there´s no allusion to 9/11.

  • @DagobertsDreams well he says:''high in the sky'' or something like that and then there's a picture on lower Manhatten

  • @alexeithemaker don´t panic.. no allusion. By the way.. the lyrics are "to that tall skyline I come".. that´s what u do when u arrive in nyc. 9/11 didn´t change anything.

  • @alexeithemaker That song is on Garfunkel's 1981 album...

  • rw

  • made me so homesick i think I actually heard my heart break

  • This song is actually one of the finestly arranged, produced and poignantly themed songs in rock and roll ever.

  • Very nice.

  • I've never been to New York but this song makes me feel like its my home

  • Fantastic song. Art Garfunkel's voice is so incredibly wonderful. What a powerful talent he is. Thank you so much for this post.

  • What a great song!!! As I watched these photos, I was hoping to be there with my wife... and now I have our plane tickets... traveling from Chile. NY, see u soon :)

  • @rhuidobrom

hope you enjoyed NYC!! You live in a different but very very beautiful country as well!!! Best wishes to Chile from Germany!

  • I have loved this song since It was first recorded over 30 years ago. Very nice video.10 out of 10 for me.

  • @charliefarlie20 are you insulting Garfunkel? Cool! and so many people liked your comment! congratulations, but it isn't really cool to do that. he isn't a clown, he's a hero, and even if you meant just "good-natured ribbing" by your comment I don't like it. I am not even crazy about this particular tune, though it is pretty good. I am just put off by your comment, and it seems like you have made a figure of fun of someone really cool and important to our increasingly dumbass culture.

  • @derek4ur thank you pal this is culture at its very best. <<<<<and i am european!

  • @aerkenz i appreciate your vote of confidence. it is a terrific song, and Garfunkel has such a great voice.

i was really pissed at the comment i responded to. we are getting so that we insist that our musical heroes look pretty and/or handsome, and, furthermore, sexy, and i think we care less and less about songwriting as a craft, document of the human story, unique kind of poetry married to melody, and art form. it is worse than just a shame--it is tragic. something great is dying.

  • @derek4ur Don't panic. I work with 16/ 17 year old kids who are using Youtube and itunes and getting into music. They may not have the education or literature to say it but they are rejecting the X factor disco crap. And a lot are making their own music.

  • old time favorite

  • it's like a sentimental extra verse from 'the only living boy in new york' by PS...tuneful but saying nothing....just blind patrotriotism and nostalgia.

  • ps it is a song by Art Garfunkel

  • i just came back from new york. This song was in my ears so many times via iPhone during my stay... Very nice vid! Thanx!

  • this is a nice song - but it's not a paul simon song is it? who wrote it and when? i like it, though.

  • @uclrichard

The song is written by Benny Gallagher, a Scot, who used to be part of the UK duo Gallagher and Lyle. They have a long history of great songs. Check them out and you will see Gallagher's pedigree as a songwriter and perfomer.

  • @Mollgreen thanks for the info....it is a great song - sounds a bit naive in the light of recent worthless wars and the banking crisis. the poorest in our society will be paying for the greed and excess of uncontrolled american 'freemarkets' for two generations, at least, but those of us englishmen who appreciate good american literature and music (including paul simon/art/dylan/velvets/NYD/REM/SS) will always love new york - vicariously at least.

  • Karl Pilkington has a citrus shaped cranium. And NY is mighty fine. Got lost in central park though. Who knew that could happen!! What does Karl think of new york? Has he been there? Would love to see Karl do a travel show. That would be different. Would probably just end up playing with a beetle in central park and go home again, the round headed cunt.

  • Ricky Rolled!

  • What a Wonderful video, also one of my favorite songs.

  • Thx for that beautiful impressions and music mix.

    :-)

  • I love this song, and this video makes me want to go visit the beauty city.

  • This has to be the best video on YouTube. I love S&G and I love NYC. It makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up watching this video. NYC - The capital of the World......

  • Great video! It really makes me wanna go back even more! I <3 New York and Art Garfunkel!

  • great video! I am from NY and it is one of the greatest cities ever

  • Nice movie clips, I remeber as a young student on my way to Titusville in Florida when i for the first time in my life landed at JFK with TWA from Stockholm and make a trip in a Yellow Cab in to Manhattan while i waited for the flight to Orlando

  • One of these few places in the World that look and feel like no other. THe time I spent there changed me forever.

Garfunkel's song captured the spirit of the city pretty much perfectly.

  • A class posting... just perfect.

  • I knew this song even before i`ve been to NYC(somewhere at the same time as mshayashi - march-april 1995)... Love the city, love the song, hoping to come back and to have a feeling just like this guy in the song. :)

It really tells,in few words, all the romantic of this city.I guess that`s what great songwriting is all about.

  • WOW!!! My wife and I are flying to New York City tomorrow... for the first time!!! Can't wait!!!

  • A thoughtful montage to accompany this wonderful song. Benny Gallagher, who co-wrote it, was kind enough to give the thumbs-up to my song, 'Gliders', over at MySpace. I hope you'll check out my 'video response' above.

  • This Video is lengen... *waitforit* ...darrrrry, great job , 5/5

  • This video is so fantastic. Makes me feel to be in New York while watching these nice scenes. I love this town so much. Can't await to fly to NYC again. It's such an nice town.

  • Also, this song is a perfect example of how masterful Art Garfunkle is at vocal harmonies. He varies the harmonies throughout...really nice. Now I must go to NYC again...last time ws in 1984 and a only saw a few tourist sites.

  • Beautifully done. Thank you!

  • This video with the 'A heart in New York' song is fantastic. But, at the same time it's sad when I see the scenery without the World Trade Center twin towers. I have visited NYC in March of 1995, and in that occasion, I still could see them.

  • Very nice, thank-you. Someday I will get there and walk and walk and walk.

  • Excellent stuff here! I really like this vid, it certainly captures the essence of the place, and the editing is great too.
