  • Great scene, the dedicated detective and the score taker facing off. Great flic.

  • this is one of the best cinematic scenes ever

  • this is stupid scene

  • @mroboiz Why dont you like this scene?

  • This scene is like an apex for me. I bought the movie, not knowing that this was forthcoming. This transcends most anything in the history of Hollywood. Two super heavyweights, perhaps in the tail end of their respective primes, but the performances completely deliver what they both have on top of their game. Both of these actors were "The guys", and neither is backing down, neither one "wins". We may never see anything like this again...

  • This face off is similar to the one in The Dark Knight when halfway through the movie Batman finally sits down with Joker for the first time in the interrogation room.

  • never seen this movie befor, aries spears made this scene sound better then what it is..still a good scene though

  • @eazyfolders It's because you have no context of what is happening. The entire movie is lead up to this point and if you don't know what's going on, why the fuck are you watching it?

  • @eazyfolders I agree I rushed to find this scene after I heard Aries talk about it!!! I bet it's much better in the context of the movie though.

  • @FraCaGuy777 shut up

  • aries spears ftw lol

  • I have a video of this scene I directed in class I was so nervous. I seen Heat in 1995 and thought it was very intriguing how a cop and a thief could have the same in common with wanting to share their problems to one another since they can't share with their own group of people. I couldn't see the scene until after I directing the scene, then I saw it again in 2010.

  • Anyone else see Andy Sandberg from dick in a box behind De Niro?

  • Best scene in the movie... Keep up the good work Michael

  • I don't know who's the sexiest....I think both

  • "You see me doin' thrill-seeking liquor store hold-ups with a 'born-to-lose' tatoo on my chest?"

  • I ain't ever goin back

  • I remember seeing a documentary somewhere where they stated that these two didin't actually shoot this scene together... they were each shot doing their lines seperately.

  • It's almost like as characters, they don't want to one up each other because of respect. But, as actors they too, don't want to one up each other out of respect. It just doesn't get much better than this.

  • @UDubFootballFan xactly

  • this scene is one of the best.the message is right on point with the background of the movie.I haven't seen a movie of this caliber yet in the 2ks.

  • 39 people are fucking dumb!

  • That is the skinniest Robert Deniro has ever been in his career.

  • @zoeydebra Oh no, Taxi Driver.

  • @IIty2iII I know and I still have not seen it yet but I will though . Yet he looks sexy in this seen.

  • It's kind of a contrived scenario and dialogue, but it is interesting because it's the only scene with the two of them together, and they do their best to make the most of it.

Won't someone PLEASE come up with a good Mafia script and pit these two super powerhouses against each other?

  • This movie is the first time these two actors appeared on screen together at the same time (they were both in Godfather II, but never at the same time)...but notice that their faces NEVER were on screen at the same time...egos were too big. Not until Righteous Kill in 2008 do they appear on screen together WITh their faces showing at the same time. That, my friend, is the definition of EGO.

  • @Lorax5683 You are a fool...it was and always is the DIRECTOR'S call.

  • @toekneeeyeoweme And I'm sure actor's egos never come into play or influence how a director handles a scene.

  • @Lorax5683 Sshh...go comment on something about which you are knowledgable.

  • @toekneeeyeoweme hee hee...you're a funny little boy.

  • @Lorax5683 I said sshh.

  • @toekneeeyeoweme *snicker* *giggle*

  • I was looking for something kinky. Didn't expect to come across this.

  • I felt soooo sorry for BOTH these characters when I saw the movie---and I STILL do....

  • What is it with this huuge following on this movie? It was good when it came out but it has acquired a new wave of followers. I guess is hard to get Al Pacino, Robert DeNiro, Val Kilmer, Ashley Judd, Danny Trejo, Natalie Portman and Jon Voight together on the same movie!

  • Two of the greatest actors ever!

  • who would trade there left arm to be an extra in this scence

  • Al aging faster than milk lmao

  • 38 people don't like this??!!! WTF???

  • DeNiro is so badass in this movie. He peaked here.

  • @Pleaver He certainly did not peak in this movie. As a matter of fact, this was probably the very last of his great roles. He peaked with either Taxi Driver or Raging Bull, depending on who you ask. I'll take Taxi Driver, which was 19 years before Heat.

  • @Mowglieboy69 I don't about that. Jackie Brown was 97 and -though his role wasn't huge- he was great in that. I found him particularly incredible in the scene where he's walking out of the mall with Bridget Fonda. I would say that that counts as one of his "last great roles".

  • @quackajack13z Yeah, I forgot about Jackie Brown. One of his more understated performances, but extremely effective nonetheless.

  • "you see me doin two-bit liquor store holdups with a born too lose tatoo on my chest?"

  • So if I send a clone down & eye corner you drillin I'm riggin the furnished rooms & turnin the lites off. K

  • robert deniro and al pacino in heat....hmm..

  • i have never seen the movie but i have heard bout this scene (keep in mind im 16) n now tht i have seen this scene i desperately want to see this now

  • did you know they shooted this scene for pacino and de niro seperately. So they never been in the same room for this scene

  • @besimav Not true, son.

  • @who8allmyhohos what? Cruising not listed???????

I hated Any Given Sunday. Al did the best he could in that movie.

  • @who8allmyhohos haven't you ever seen Awakenings?

  • LIKE A BAWS

  • two bosses right there

  • As I get older (27 right now) this movie just keeps getting better....I'd argue it's just as good as Godfather which I rank as my #1 movie of all time....

  • I love how they smile at each other at the end

  • there could be a third celeb in between that table, and it's Heinz ketchup.

  • @MrDavidbobo25 right one of the most CLASSIC scenes ever

  • Damn this scene is an orgasm

  • I think they are currently working on a movie together. Not very exciting for me, this and Scarface are the only Pacino movies I liked. (THAT IS JUST ME). Deniro I only saw part of Godfather 2 and I thought his story was the only interesting part (JUST ME), also in High School we watched that movie where he play's a guy who can't read. It was okay (I guess). But the rumor is Deniro is supposed to play Vince Lombardi, that I would love to see.

  • Neither do i

  • To Sketch02000 I agree 100%.

  • Barbecues and Ballgames

  • Incredible film! One kind of a kind. Micheal Mann has yet to make another film that is even comparable to this. Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino's only other (recent) film was "Righteous Kill" which was a failure and joke. They should have never taken the role.

  • classic

  • Beautiful piece of film.

  • They had filmed this scene separately, look, they weren't in the same shot, body doubles. Not the backs of the heads.

  • @irishace11 actually if you watch the "behind the scenes" footage they actually did film the scene together. It's just the way Michael mann (the director) chose to shoot it that makes it appear as if they were shoot seperately.

  • for the subliminal meaning v=oYcZrwtwAQY

  • 2 of the greatest actors going head to head. a cinemactic masterpiece

  • Great scene, but a very unfortunate name for this particular Youtube video.

  • @se7en00110111 bwahahaha

  • @se7en00110111 LOL...indeed are very poor word choice...the titler missed "the couplng " :)

  • @se7en00110111 I never notice it.. Too funny

  • Deniro IS the heat in this movie. His intensity burns right throught the screen.

  • Dislike, fuck YouTube, there is no dislike for this video you sick fucks. Go kill yourselves.

  • Whoa. Any more cajones in one movie, and it would break the space-time continuum.

  • This is like Obama with honorable burial of Osama

  • @ceez001 lol

  • great fucking movie you want to do crime do it right

  • "What the fuck is that, barbecues and ball games?"

Classic Bobby D! Great movie with the two greatest actors of all time !

  • Great scene. You know why such memorable scenes, and memorable movies, are so rare nowadays? It's because society lost patience. Society is not patient enough anymore to watch a 7min scene where 2 guys are just sitting down and chatting. With all the available information and "want it all right now right there" mentality, movie producers know that what people want now doesn't correspond to that greatness we had years ago. Same thing for videogames. Most serve an impatient clientele now.

  • @WorldOfSnakes Wise words my friend.

  • @MrOrion92 Thanks.

  • @WorldOfSnakes And conversely I can show you why this scene is riddled with lame logic, horrible ethics, and moral contradictions.

  • @ig00g1e No you can't show me anything because it's a matter of taste whether you like the scene or not and you can't convince me that I don't like it .

  • @WorldOfSnakes the 90's was the last decade of well written movies w/ not only action but great dialogue. Movies like heat actually draw you into the movie rather than just presenting you something over the top.

  • @diviasee1 Yeah I agree and I think it's a cultural thing. If people were more patient and they actually took their time to look deeper into things, like they used to do before, we'd still have great movies coming out. But instead, the producers know what people want, so they make movies to please the masses and give them their quick fix. It's all about quick fixes these days. Same thing for the music industry: new artists just fly in and fade out so quickly, it's just a temporary fix for ppl.

  • @diviasee1 LOL No it's not. Everyone has to come on YT, and perform "OHHH the good ol' days" Schtick.

  • @PUNKem733 yea it is pretty much the good old days, the days when people actually put forth a little bit of effort in creating something original. I seen where there are remaking Total Recall, took a lot of talent to remake a movie that came out in 1990, same decade that heat came out in. It was the last good ol days. Not saying that there are no good movies out now, just not many rememorable ones. Thats my story and I'm "Schtick'in" to it.

  • @WorldOfSnakes It is called DIGITAL ADD.

  • @MrGENOSTV What?

  • @WorldOfSnakes I trust you've heard they're making Metal Gear Rising an action game.

  • @0rcryst Yes they are and I can't wait!

  • PROBABLY 2 BEST ACTORS OF THEIR ERA.

I MISS JOE PESCI, THAT WOULD BE A MONSTER TRIO.

  • 4:30 on is the best

  • ùhm_äñy_guýs_wÂnt_tÕ_chÂt_wÎth_mè

  • I LOVE the end of this movie.

  • These two today will put there name and face on anything for more coins , no fucking creed . cha cha cha dancing with the stars will be calling :)

  • to the 38 people that's DON'T LIKE that scene "enjoy your barbecue and your ballgame...!"

  • Ever notice that if Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro do a movie together it fucking rocks?

  • Pacino > De Zero. Thumbs up if you agree.

  • @Almogrew There both great actors. Eat a dick.

  • @Almogrew Trollin?

  • great scene from a great movie

  • 38 people are victims of all the murders Al has ever worked.

  • this title is kinda misleading

  • 38 people are monks!

  • i gotta be honest here........i almost always cry at the end of this movie

  • Nope they did a WHOLE movie together Righteous kill :))

  • Al pacino and robert de niro were never in the same movie together!!! I challenge anyone out there to show me a frame in this movie where the camera shows both their faces simultaneously. They are always speaking to their stunt doubles even in this diner scene.

  • @heapner

Please imdb the film Righteous Kill.

  • @heapner A frame with both their faces? Yeah sure, let's go:

    /watch?v=t3qLbQFYHP8 (from 2:51 to 3:03)

Got any more challenges lying around?

And to debunk your bullshit "stunt double in the diner scene" theory:

    /watch?v=LnFRvYhdbyM

  • @insanity21376 Their faces are not shown together from 2:51 to 3:03. The camera shows pacinos face then roberts face but never both faces in the same frame. When the camera shows roberts face you see the back of pacinos head and vice versa. Challenge is still on. Try again.

  • @heapner I'm not talking about at 2:51 in this video, but in this video:

    /watch?v=t3qLbQFYHP8

Put youtube (dot) com in front and go that video.

Or do this search - HEAT: Robert De Niro and Al Pacino meets at the highway in HEAT

  • @insanity21376 Ok so you showed me ONE scene and it's Extremely DARK!!! Check this link out and you'll see what hollywood can do in movies. /watch?v=yhk-J9YwLR8

  • @heapner You asked for one scene in your "challenge." That being said, it is the only time in the movie where both their faces are shown. But, check this link and you'll see they were both present (and shown at the table in various still shots) for the filming of the restaurant scene. /watch?v=LnFRvYhdbyM

    .

So yes that was both of them in the same shots throughout the scene & not stunt doubles, though I suppose you'll now claim Michael Mann and the others interviewed in that piece are lying.

  • @insanity21376 OK I admit that I was partly wrong. This does show that they were in the same scene together. I commend you for that. But I still believe that they are NOT together in all of the scenes in this movie. Stunt doubles are used a lot in this movie in my opinion. I am a huge fan of both these actors. Maybe now I'll give this movie a try. Thanks.... I guess.

  • One of the things I loved about Goodfellas was that the guys (who in real life) pulled off the biggest heist in history were not these mythical monk-like supercriminals. They were low-impule-control psychos who wanted money first and foremost and they did anything to get it, even blatantly disregard the orders of their Mafia superiors.

Samurai crooks (Like DeNiro AGAIN in "the Score") take me out of the film.

  • Famous, memorable, and a masterpiece of a scene.

  • 2:55 classic robert deniro grin placed perfectly in the scene

  • that your life...

  • thats what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object ladies & gentlemen

  • @whatsgoingon07 the question is which is the force and which is the object?

  • you see me doing thrill seeker liquor store holdups with a born to lose tatoo on my chest?

  • This is the best with Bob Deniro & Al Pacino.. But the movie with 50 cent ruin my vison of Bob & Al...They should of left it at Heat.

  • De Niro > Pacino

  • Fcuk The Town!!

Heat is what its all about

    Two best right here...

  • for the people that are saying they shot the scene apart which they did not btw, why would they do that ? besides pacino has already put that to rest, buy the dvd and find out for yourself

  • Legendary scene, they just don´t make movies like this anymore...

  • @Rebirth210 And I think they captured that poetry nicely.

  • 2:53-2:57 i love it

  • Um, that's an interesting point. What are you, a monk?

  • thats the discipline, it is what it is its elther that or we go do something else pal!!! awesome words

  • ".....or maybe we'll never see each other again." - I think that line has a double meaning, especially since it's the first time both of them have appeared in a scene together in a film. I could have sworn Pacino had a bit of a smirk on his face after he said that :)

  • @tributevocalist Totally saw the faint smirk.

  • @proebeluk

They didn't do this scene together. Each of their parts were filmed separately. That is why the angle is only always a view of the back of one of their heads. So it may be that they have not done a scene together yet.

  • @1JPH You're wrong. Pacino and Deniro did shoot the scene together. It's an urban myth that they shot the restaurant scene separately. If you watch the Letterbox version, you can see both in the same shot together. On the special edition DVD of Heat, Pacino even states that he and Deniro were allowed by the director to do the scene together with no rehearsals, to make their meeting seem more genuine. Sorry to bust your bubble, but the two shot the scene sitting across from each other.

  • @1JPH , they both stared in Rightous Kill, where they share many scenes.

  • @rememberI but that movie was doodoo

  • @1JPH The camera angles are significant for something entirely different, actually.

  • This is just so EPIC! Thank you Mr. Michael Mann. Still Nr. 1 Film to me. By the Way. 2nd is True Romance. Dennis Hopper and Chris Walken.

  • Classic!

  • "There's a flipside to that coin...."

  • No matter how old this movie is it never gets old.. I love this Movie!

  • Dare you to watch the L.A. Takedown version of this scene and not laugh your ass off. I almost cried.lol

  • @bigstabby Shit, I just watched it lol.

It's like "Heat" as done by the highschool drama class. Amazing how the scene changes with different actors!

  • @AEigner yeah that shit was pitiful.lol almost painful to watch. XD

  • "Fuck is that barbecue and ball games."

  • the thing about this scene is u can just feel the tension in the room

  • 37 people saw the heat coming around the corner and couldn't take it. How could anyone dislike this scene? A pox on all of you.

  • @GrooTheWanderer80 I love this scene. Next to the part when they steal millions and the gun fight I have to say this is probably the best part of the movie.

  • @GrooTheWanderer80 make it 38 hahah.. fuck this scene

  • @sycho67ak Fag.

  • @animegamer77 you must be either Al Pacino or Robert De Niro.. either case, fuck you !! this scene is an overhyped piece of shit !!!

  • @sycho67ak cock sucker

  • @mikeloli11 Al Pacino would say "Yea.. Cocksucker..."

  • @sycho67ak then why are you watching it dumb fuck

  • @CMO21211 well in order to dislike it and make my opinion, I did have to watch it first, didnt I ?? just cause you live in a dump like the united states, are people questioning why you live there ?? .

  • @sycho67ak all i can do is laugh at that. thats hiliarious.

  • Righteous Kill. Whole movie was them.

  • De Niro & Pacino. Enough said.

  • probably the greatest scene ever

  • @bobby4500

The Best Scene ever is Christopher walken and Dennis Hopper in True Romance.

    It's a fact.
