was that all alt picking? i saw a video where Uli Roth demonstrates how to play it and he uses some legato but i couldnt figure out what the fuck he was doing because he was going too fast.

Yeah it was and yes you are right, Uli uses a hammer-on / pull-off together with picking. I didn't know that when recording this solo and I still find it easier to use alternate picking.

Three things:

1) Too much gain... your play gets dirty.

2) You should use a metronome to keep the tempo

Hey buddy, I'm not taking you wrong, I sincerely appreciate your comment and really believe you're right. I know this is far from perfect, hell I also just found out that I've been playing this wrong from the very start. After watching Uli's lesson I now see how it should be played and I will try re-learn it. For example, I'm using all alternating picking while Uli is going "down stroke" - "hammer on" - "upstroke" etc.
